And thing like this I was considering. If there are such entries in register with Steinberg path Sonar installer just could read it. But if there are no such entries and no dirs created Sonar install could offer its real defaults.... But anyway my current workflow and data keeping don't force me for clean install so I am unable to check in experiment it in any considerable future

Larry, I am aware about VST history. I was just referring to Sonar installation on clean Windows system. I had an impression that when I was installing it some years ago I din't change any defaults and got location like "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins" not Steinberg thing. Some apps are doing some simple env/register scans before installation so I could think if anything before Sonar created Steinberg thing Sonar could read it... Just thinking... Of course it was years ago so I could be 100% sure and to be honest no passion here to verify it by doing clean Windows install and then Sonar. So I prefer to believe in your words if you are so sure it is also default for Sonar...

Hm, which version of Sonar had such defaults during install ? Didn't you install anything before so Sonar installer could detect such location for VST? I don't remember exactly installation process on clean Windows (it was many years ago) but presence such dir as 'C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins' with core plugins doesn't sound like my liking...

Yup. Fortunately there are massive amount of options to customize different directories in Sonar's option so it is easily fixable inside it.

Yep, after manual placing it into my VST2 directory I got it in Sonar. Unfortunately I like it so now have a little ideology war inside my head... 🔀

Are you sure, Larry, it was also default for Sonar, for instance? No something like: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins ?

yes, for cubase.... so thousands users needs to fix what was poorly done by devels. I don;'t want to buy anything what needs to be fixed before first use... Having thousands plugins means every bad design multiply my effort...

It is funny as I remember from deep past 'make install' pack is usually part of SDK so it requires very, very little work. But well we are only PC pagans not worth their attention so not sure if we should not to contaminate them with our money

Ehhh, was curious about this plugin and installed demo... I picked VST2 to install. No question where...but ok, maybe smart app, launching CbB with scanning, not found... Looking manually.... Found it in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins. Never had Cubase.... With all respect are they hiring idiots to create installers?
  10. Zo, there is no theoretical obstacle software emulate 100% hardware. Even if it is still not the case it will... This is why I like AA customer approach very much... One day they will make some updates and after then even Zo will hear no difference hw vs soft 😛 And not that you will be so old you will lose your hearing Progress in software development is really huge. AI is still in premature stage about applications for us.... But it will change dramatically... So be careful with investing too much in hardware HAAS is great option.
  11. yup, it attracts me too but let's not forget UAD plugins require UAD hardware
  12. I would say bands are little different kind of companies So pls buy another for me
  13. If you are artist you always prefer full contact 😛
  14. It is a pity I do really like concept hw as a service. I have an account somewhere - don't remember where exactly was waiting for something special to try. Unfortunately I have everything from Waves I was interested in But I am pretty sure - considering this place purpose - somebody could be interested.
  15. But you are covered until you will sold your rock
  16. I would say in a source it doesn't differ much from approach where you need to pay for every update where number of version is changed. As in fact we have no reason to WUP if no changes in plugin just for a sake to be WUPed. They do not stop working even after years. Its form is just a little mess and more annoying than in other cases And probably abandoning WUP for a honest subscription model with low prices for those who want to be sure everything have updated at any time would be better. This is where we can appreciate companies like Melda, AA, Soundtoys and some others where one is paying once and has lifetime updates included. And such approach is attracting more people. But to be honest you need to be sure you will have more and more new customers to be able to keep your business.
  17. Such things always make me hardly surprise and trying to figure out why I should pay to a company for wearing short with their logo?
  18. so Zo, when will we see video with plugins vs hw battle? Don't worry we will probably buy all your plugins 😛 And you could go to (fairly warning evil word subscription to hw as service
  19. Never questioned that I could never understand people saying there are not good or too old. What really matters is sound, not how they look or how old they are To be honest many times it is hard to categorically say the newer thing is objectively sounding better because it is often just sounding different what means in some cases could be more proper to be applied... After all the final result matters not anything between...
  20. And you will have sand4, sand5 and so on 😛 Everything without any additional payment. While their plugins initially seem to be pricey one is getting in fact constantly increasing bundle. And some deals - like this one - are really sweet. Studio One's option to change S1 internal buffer easily skipping messing with driver settings looks like designed for use with AA plugins I wish something like that in our beloved CbB.
  21. Sure we can disable lot of things but not every person like it. I like very much CbB (Sonar inherited) ability to VST rescan online even during active session. Waves is slowing down significantly all scans by its mad amount of shells (VST 32 and 64 , VST3 32 and 64, for some people AAX etc and Waves Version specific) I would like to use - let's say - just 64-bit VST3 and done. I can manually remove anything else but we know... WC will install it again and consider installation is broken (like NA, why lack of 32bit plugins is to be considered as broken? lol) I wish developers focus on understanding what users need instead of forcing to them what they thing users should need.... That's all. It is so simple but not for them
  22. Yup, but the best thing it is permanent discount And they are very often send codes to let you use it. In fact about 2x more than deals available Additional things sweet about AA approach: - you have not just 1 SSL model emulation but many of them - when they upgrade to next engine version it is free for owners of the previous one Now compare it to competitors But still workflow is different and no possible to use them in record stage or with small buffers.
  23. They do not not to be sorry. It is not a problem for us, at all We do not need to buy their plugins
  24. Pretty nasty thing While I am not experiencing it (so far) and having all 9,10,11,12 working (although did not try every of them yet) I can imaging such thing could make me insane crazy
