  1. I think I'll wait until I can get my dream dual socket 128 core Epyc setup with 2 TB of RAM and four Quadro RTX cards. Then I might be able to run these plugins at 90% cpu usage.
  2. Eh... Just play some buckets and use drum replacer. This is how the told Mike Mangini to get those Dream Theater sounds.
  3. I don't think anyone owns a Console 1?
  4. One plugin I'm starting to use quite a bit is AXP's SoftAmp PSA, which emulates the Sansamp PSA-1 rack preamp with some extra features. One recommendation is downloading the PSA-1 manual and studying it a bit. The controls are not something you'll learn by just tweaking, but you can get a lot of tones from this plugin. I also suggest using the cabinet simulation part of it as a global EQ and pairing it with a better cabinet simulator (I use Torpedo's Wall of Sound). With good impulse responses you can even ignore amp altogether and just use drive pedals and such like amps.
  5. Keep in mind that the UMC202HD and above all use the same Midas preamps that go on the X32.
  6. Going strong for 3 weeks now. Still can't login into Waves using Firefox. Just tried earlier today.
  7. It's Parallel Particles 2.0!
  8. So, the thing you're stressing the most about is impulse responses? Cause that's 99% of the "impressive" amp sims nowadays. There's also the hidden plugin oversampling you can't turn off, which gets rid of aliasing artifacts and such.
  9. Too bad PA is smart and they removed the option of getting Objeq Delay for free after you apply the code...
  10. You're welcome. Maybe I'm aiming more towards instrumental surf music. This method of slightly pushing the amp to work harder is necessary to get that Dick Dale sound without having to use 016 gauge strings. Granted that I'm currently using 012's tuned one step down, which are not a light gauge by any stretch. Since heavier strings have more mass, you get more bass from the guitar and also volume.
  11. The same developer also has a Harmonic Reverb plugin that's kinda like something you'd get out a shimmer reverb or the Eventide crystals.
  12. A good piece of advice offered by Shelly Yakus is not waiting to do all your processing during mixing. Pre-production is there to help you determine how the end result should sound like and, that way, you can already start with somewhat "pre-mixed" sources. This is not so much a matter of "digital sounding" or "overly processed" but more commiting to a sound and going for it. It's not uncommon to see songs nowadays with hundreds of tracks with all sorts of complex processing, you watch a video of the person demonstrating the thing, turning all sorts of effects on, removing bypass on tracks and you go: "I don't hear any difference."
  13. Newer version also comes with some Airwindows effects too.

  15. The regular installation for just using the plugin doesn't require you to install the Python dependencies. It's just a VST3 file you drop at your plugins location.
  16. The first time I saw this unit was at a demo video Anderton's did and I could not stop thinking that it looks like some DIY maker pedal thing considering how plain and bare it looks. You'll see what I mean if you watch the video. It doesn't look like a quality piece of kit. But, looks can be deceiving.
  17. DistroKid has such an option with their plans. You pay an extra fee on top of the subscription per song.
  18. Yes, but what I mean is that I can't name drop artists and bands like others have done and talk things about them in such a manner.
  19. While the MPA 2 doesn't have a proper eq, you have some adjustability over the tone with the impedance, tube bias and other adjustments. For example, you could clip harsh transients by driving the preamp harder with the the circuit on, for example. That would produce a warmer sound that could be voiced with the impedance switch and so on.
  20. As someone who had tendonitis in the past and that made me stop drawing after 27 years, I disagree. The less mouse movement I have to do, the better and I don't see how to accomplish that by manually clicking 20+ download buttons.
  21. And I think I found the external ProChannel EQ... https://vst4free.com/plugin/2918/
  22. That's almost always spring reverb, especially on guitar. The strange aim of surf guitar is emulating water sounds. That droplet plinking sound can only be done with spring reverb. You don't necessarily need a strat or a whammy bar to do it. If you have a guitar that has a strident sound naturally, like a Tele, you don't need much tweaking. For a Les Paul, depending on the pickups you have, you might need something like a Treble Booster before the amp or an overdrive and a different amp.
  23. Main issue with 500 gear is that you need a lunchbox to test them. If you buy a used lunchbox, how do you test it without any modules in?
  24. I'm not even sure I have influences. While I can tell you which music, bands and artists I used to listen when I was young and growing up, I never aimed to imitate or become any of them in any way shape or form.
