    You can do this.

Open up Preferences - MIDI - Instruments

    Then click “Define”.

In the “Define Instruments and Names” Window, in the right pane, click + to open “Controller Names”

In that list, you should see “Standard”.  Click + to open “Standard”

The names that are listed there are what will appear in the controller lane names for controllers.

These are global for those Hardware MIDI ports where there are no controller names defined in any loaded instrument definition file.

What would be handy is if you could define Controller names on a per VSTi basis. (I have feature requested this, but I am not holding my breath).

He is not talking about changing names. It's about seeing frequently used controls in the controller area as default so he will not reopen them everytime on every track.

@murat k. some of the items you mentioned are newish this probably means they have yet to be added to the theme editor.

Others may have historic reasons for being fixed.

There should be no reason for a better DAW.

Have you checked within the theme editor?

    Read the Title please.

If you feel that you really need these to be customised then I suggest you make a feature request in the appropriate forum.

This is Feedback Loop. We share problems we had in the software. UI Themes Forum is appropriate for sharing Themes, not problems.

However I suspect they are on the list of things to be done. But we should remember the development team is remarkable small.

These are easy to fix even with a small team. And the lacking parts are not much as you see the list. All can be done in a week with one person.

Personally I feel bug fixes are of higher importance than being able to change a few colours. This is of course just my own personal furry opinion. You are of course entitled to yours.

Of course bug fixes has more importance. But this doesn't mean changing colors is not important. Cakewalk has a great theme customization support. But it's not 100% complete. But it will when this list is complete.

  3. Thanks for locking the post @Wookiee That give me a chance to create a post directly tied to this issue.

  4. At the beginning I thought requesting only adding some color options for lacking mostly used parts.
But if we want to get rid of this problem, it should be done entirely.

If the internet is gone permanently, I think you will have far worse problems than not being able to use your DAW ;)
You can authorize cakewalk via the offline auth mechanism but yes that requires at least a remote internet connection somewhere.
Pretty much most software today is tied to some sort of activation mechanism, its just how the industry has evolved.

I had never thought that way.

If an apocalypse happens and I survive, will I not be able to make music with Cakewalk anymore?

    That would be boring.

I say "countless" becaue I'm too lazy to count them. :D

Countless doesn't mean "didn't counted". Countless means plenty.

    Actually they are not many.

I used Panup's Duckbar with Sonar X3 and found almost 500 areas that could be changed.  Many more were never found due to limitations (1000's of black results). I posted the lists in Themes forum a while ago. Theme Editor has less than what I found and it's doubtful the rest will ever be included.

These numbers doesn't mean anything about what we are talking about here.

Best we can do is make requests for missing areas.

This is what we are supposed to do in this topic.

No. Not countless. Actually they are not many.

For now yes we have to but not for ever. Because

  8. These I've found are not changeable.

    "Selected Clip Fades"

    "Clip Stretch Percentage"

    "Selected Clip Stretch Percentage"

Cakewalk Color Palette (CLR) files are just ini files which stores variables with values.

Only assigning new variables for lacking parts to Color Palette will fix this issue.

If there are other not changeable things in the software we can list down here.

First off, there IS a way to change the color of the fade line. See Page 47.

I bet there's a way to change the color of the in-clip FX widget also.
50 Internet Points to the first person to find it!

When it's implemented it needs to be for both selected and unselected situations to work for any situation.

Thanks Colin but it's not working for Selected Clips.
