I hope Tone2 will honor that offer down the road, as I'm just not quite ready to buy another synth.

By the way, what is your impression of Icarus 2? Is there anything unique that it can do well? For example, Icarus 2 vs. Dune 3 vs. Zebra 2?

    It looks powerful!

Always worth an email when you are ready abacab.

I have all of their synth demos installed which is a good way to decide which ones float your boat. I have slowly been replacing demos with full versions.

To be honest Icarus 2 could have been Gladiator 3 or Electra 2. I just liked the assortment and variety of presets in Icarus 2. Undoubtedly it also has one of the most complete feature sets; 3 oscillator, 3d wavetables, multiple resynthesis methods, great sounding filters, a glitch sequencer, two MSEGs and a drum machine. It can be in your face when you want it to be, but just listen to some of the complex evolving atmo presets to hear the other side of it.

(Note: I just came across these because Zo's old review of Nemesis suddenly popped up in my YouTube recommendations. I'm not sure if it's really a sale or just a "perma-sale")

I think these look like the permasale prices Eusebio. I picked up Nemesis and Icarus 2 over Christmas at much lower prices (already had Saurus 3 and Warlock) .

If you own any of these already it's always worth emailing Markus for a price on any that you want. That's what I did.

  5. @simon

I recall looking at Absolute 5 and not seeing anything worthwhile (not for what they were asking anyway).

I will be very interested to see Halion 7 though. Let's hope the upgrade price is reasonable and follows the Dorico UI vibe.

Been using REAPER alot recently .. very nice DAW tbh.

Reason for usage .. Drummer and keyboard player are both on MACs so cant use Cakewalk :( .. Saviour is a nice utility that allows one open CW native files inside Reaper

Hi Aidan, I have also been using Reaper more than usual recently, and I'm really liking its MIDI routing capability.

How are you finding Saviour? Do CW files translate well to Reaper?

yep didn't found one , there's was some greazt stuff during sales , but a chance i tried those , those were slow and sluggish ...

I was also curious about this  Zo - no demo that I can find and it's 46 GBP inc VAT to buy.  I am tempted but...

You were right about Abyss, it's inspiring! Unfortunately, I snoozed and missed that $54 deal at Christmas but I have now signed up for the 90 day demo (hopefully they will have another sale within that time :) )

I once needed an angelic chorus in a song, so I recruited two of my teenage granddaughters. They were rather reluctant, though, as neither of them considered themselves singers.

However, once I showed them what Melodyne could do, plus the magic of double-tracking, EQ and reverb, their confidence was greatly boosted and in the end we got some really nice results.

I've had similar experiences myself with my daughter and some of her schoolfriends. I used Melodyne and "recorded doubles" a lot. They were amazed at the final results.

I am constantly amazed at what can be done with Melodyne, and I finally upgraded from Editor to Studio recently so I'm looking forward to delving into that.

There was a video I watched a few years ago from a Melodyne product specialist (Stefan Lindlahr I think) who was involved in the development of Melodyne and his video really upped my Melodyne game.  That and upgrading from Assistant to Editor at the same time!

  9. Thanks Larry.

They sound good but the main thing that puts me off Emvoice is the requirement for an Internet connection as the vocal performances are generated remotely. Also means that if the company ever disappears, no more Emvoice vocals.

I have recently been trying the demo of Synthesizer V and even the demo voicebank Eleanor Forte AI sounds really good.

Check out this thread for more info.

Also, the KVR thread contains up to the minute information.

Just need to be wary of some of the individual voicebank license details (see KVR thread).

... as well as glissando/portamento articulations.

That would be a good idea.

I have had to draw in wheel articulations in the past to simulate a slide from one note to another; very time consuming.

Open Soundpaint and click the "Menu" icon with a 1 on it in the upper lefthand corner and choose Update

I must have missed that one! Thanks for the heads-up Larry.

I also just had an email about a new 24 string Zither instrument for $20 which looks quite nice.
I haven't looked at the website in a while and there seems to be quite a few new instruments.

  12. I call it Goto Bass as I use it on almost everything. I just wish they would add an upright/double bass; then I wouldn't need anything else. I guess the modelling engine isn't really designed for acoustic instruments though.
