  1. I'm no expert at comping but thought I might be able to assist given no one else has responded. What I would do I use the browser to load the first take into 12 drum tracks. Then I'd add two additional take lanes for each track. Then I'd load the tracks one at a time into the correct take lane. There's probably better ways but I think this one will work. To load each take with the Now time at Home, I think you can select the track and the intended take lane and double click the intended clip.
  2. What can I do when Reset category is grayed out and isn't an option? I'm coming across a number of instances where Reset category is grayed out and I can't relegate them to the uncategorized folder. Is it possible that I've overflowed the uncharacterized folder?
  3. Thanks. I may try that if the trackball doesn't workout.
  4. What is the keyboard shortcut that "fits the project horizontally without expanding track height?" I can't find it in the documentation or in Keyboard Shortcuts.
  5. Thanks. The review was informative. Do you use the rollermouse? I think I'm going to give a trackball a try. Hopefully I'll like it more than you do.
  6. Thanks for the additional options. They all seem to have advantages. I still think I will give the Kensington Expert Trackball you first suggested a try.
  7. Thanks. Maybe I'll try this. Considerably less expensive ($86 including a wrist pad) and probably easier to use than the RollerMouse. I remember seeing lots of these on Computer Aided Design (CAD) designer's desks. And they could quickly and accurately make precision moves all day every day without moving their hand or wrist except to spin the scroll ring. Are you aware of any issues with the wireless version or of any useful accessories? Thanks again.
  8. Thank you. Very helpful. I hadn't considered the non-intuitive motion (rolling/sliding) required to draw a curve. That could be difficult to learn. And precision and accuracy could suffer. So far I don't draw many curves but I often do move automation nodes horizontally and vertically at the same time which might suffer those precision and accuracy problems. Thanks again.
  9. I'm looking for a replacement for my mouse and the RollerMouse looks interesting. It's totally different than a mouse and keeps both hands on the keyboard; and it has 7 fully configurable and easily accessible buttons. It's also expensive. So finding satisfied users who use it the way I will can make it easier for me to make the move. My biggest issue is with the mouse's left-click button, particularly for click-and-drag. What I'm dragging often drops or my click becomes a double-click while I'm holding the button down. Also I have various types of risk and hand pains that are aggravated by mouse use.
  10. I have both and still prefer CueMix to Mix Control. +1 I have the 8228 mkII. The last driver update was in 2015. They've had several Mac driver updates for the same interface in 2021.
  11. Thanks . Nothing. Yes. All true. I hadn't thought of setting the Pre-Master interleave to mono which wouldn't work for me since all the buses and send FX need to be stereo in this mix. Your interleave comment reminded me of what I'd done wrong. I want the duplicate tracks panned hard L/R. But, for the null test to make sure that they are identical, I need to pan them both back to the center. Once I did that just now, they cancel and I hear nothing meaning they are identical. I want them to stay identical through the track FX. So I also make sure that the track FX are all mono and identical as well. That's working too. The send FX are stereo and do introduce some variation which is fine. Thanks again.
  12. I need help diagnosing duplicate tracks panned L/R that don't cancel when the phase of one is switched. I've got duplicate acoustic guitar tracks panned L/R with identical FX. I was using the ME50 pedal output but decided that the pedal was introducing too much resonance and switched to the guitar DI which was routed to both my audio interface and the ME50 using a DI box. While I was using the ME50 track, I switched the phase switch on one of the tracks from time to time to be sure that all the FX were identical and the sound from the two tracks canceled. I used the browser to bring the DI clip into the AG L track as Take2, slip edited the beginning to match the beginning of the ME50 track, checked it and bounced it to clips. Comping was not enabled, but to do the editing and move the clip, I used the edit and move tools because the smart tool didn't work in the take lane. Once I was happy with the AG L track, I duplicated the AG L track, deleted the existing AG R track, renamed the duplicate track AG R and moved the Pan from L to R. I then disabled all sends and PC, routed the outputs directly to the PreMaster Bus and routed the PreMaster bus to my interfaces Mains Out. I also added a Ozone Imager 2 plugin in the PreMaster FX Rack to display the combined output. As expected the L/R tracks combined in the middle and the Imager displayed a vertical line. But when I flipped the phase on one of the tracks, the Imager showed a horizontal line which was expected but what I heard was a thinner acoustic guitar panned hard L/R. I've checked everything I can think of but haven't found the problem. I made two GIFs (A) shows the console view details and (B) shows the track view details. In (A) the routing should be clear, the PC is shown off and sends are off. In (B) the track peak markers line up, the clip names are shown and the take lanes are shown. The Ozone Imager 2 is shown in bot views. PS: Looking at the Imager displays. The one i (A) clearly shows the vertical line, the one in (B) doesn't but they are both vertical anytime the bot phase switches are off. Neither shows the horizontal line which is straight across the horizontal axis but that's what's displayed when on phase switch is on.
  13. That's not clipping. Clipper plugins produce harmonic distortion emulating analog clipping. Here's a free version. Early in the demo video you can see the clipping effect it's emulating. There's also a drum loop example toward the end of the video. https://www.kvraudio.com/product/free-clip-by-venn-audio
  14. I believe it's always true that over driving converters (output > 0 dBFS) produces undesired results except when harsh digital distortion is desired. The clipping you're referring to might be provided by "clipper" or "soft clipper" plugins that add harmonic distortion in the signal processing chain inside the DAW.
  15. I use PC FX Chains a lot. I don't use them in the FX Bin. So I'm not aware of behavior differences between the two locations. When used as PC modules I'd like to see the following FX Chain improvements: 1. The signal LED working as it does for other PC modules. The LED seldom or never lights. 2. Quick Group functions to work as they do for other modules including for FX Chain controls and individual FX in the FX Chain. Quick Group functions mostly don't work on FX Chains. 3. Being able to drag a FX from one PC FX Chain to another. Currently the FX copy lands in the receiving channel's FX bin. 4. Being able to drag copy a FX Chain from one PC Channel to another. 5. Being able to insert FX Chains at cursor location not at bottom of PC Channel.
  16. You can duplicate the track or copy the clip into a second track. In either case, the second's track panning won't be impacted by or linked to that of the source track. The data in the track (the clips) are not changed by track panning or other track processing. Look at the track signal flow diagram which makes this clear.
  17. What I don't see in any discussion of presets. Mine has a dozen presets plus full reset, what ever that is. Is there something going one under the hood that these presets adjust or do they only affect the controls available on the user interface? If they only affect controls on the user interface why is a full reset preset required? See GIF below. Also, It appears that clipping only occurs when the clipping LED is red. Is that correct? Lots of mine run in the yellow but inserting a FX Chain with a level meter ahead of Console Emulation appears to indicate peak levels only exceed 0 dBfs (clipping) when the clipping LED is red.
  18. Thanks. I downloaded NadIR and think it's really handy and easier for me to use than the TH3 IR cabinet.
  19. Thanks. That's a later version than the one I'm using. I'll see if I can find that version assuming newer is better.
  20. It looks like they still work. I downloaded v.2.3.90 VST2 Softube dlls for use in ProChannel and just quickly verified that all but TSAR load in PC and controls seem to work. I forgot to test TSAR but I'm guessing it works too. I don't recall where I got the v.2.3.90 VST2 dlls but I'm guessing it was from Command Center.
  21. Is anyone besides me using the now ancient MOTU 828 mkII Firewire? If yes, are you experiencing the issues I describe in my attached May 13 post? If yes, I'll know I'm beating my head against a wall; but if not, maybe there's something that you're doing that I can do to continue using my 828 mkII. Basically the project I'm working on has grown and seems to require a sample buffer size bigger than 192 samples. When I increase the sample buffer size above 192 samples Cakewalk acts as if I've lowered the buffer size and stops working. (See my previous post for details including a gif) To me it seems like there's a bug in the driver that actually reduces the buffer size for buffer size settings above 192 samples. This is a recent problem. I've recently used sample buffer settings up to the maximum of 1024 samples. I suspect that the problem was caused by a Windows 10 update, but don't have any idea how to address. I plan to also contact MOTU, but don't expect any help from them. I recently checked for new drivers and found that I have the latest version which was released in 2015. To get the 828 mkII working I upgraded to a newer Windows 10 compatible Firewire card a few months ago. That solved earlier problems and the 828 mkII was working great until early May when the project I'm working on required me to increase my sample buffer setting above 192 samples. My May 13 post below explains what I'm still experiencing. @scook made one suggestion but the setting in my Configuration File already matched his suggestion.
  22. So you select the L+R Stereo patch point input for the receiving mono track? I haven't investigated before and don't recall any surprises in my use of mono track patch point inputs, but I hope to soon just to clear it up for me. It seems to me the patch point input selection does make a difference to the receiving mono track. A stereo input is 3,072 kbps for 32 bit/48 ksps instead of 1536 kbps for mono. Not sure that panning is necessary for either the stereo or mono patch point input selection. I think that the stereo output from a center panned mono track is just two (L+R) identical copies of the mono signal.
  23. Thanks for that clarification. I seem to keep losing track of the fact that all Cakewalk inputs/outputs are stereo meaning outputs from mono tracks, including sends are stereo. That's not a problem for me with audio interface I/O it matches hardware routing. But for mono tracks with outputs or sends routed to other mono tracks via patch points, I believe that I need to pan the mono tracks stereo Output or Send hard Left or Right and select the correct Left/Right patch point channel as the receiving mono tracks input. If both the mono tracks Output and Send are going to mono tracks, then only the Output needs to be panned if the Send is post fader. Have I got that right?
