  1. Well, still don't have room for the 2nd monitor yet, although I do have the monitor itself-Samsung 27" 4K. It's not as big as my main monitor which is a new LG 32" 4k etc (still not huge I know). So CV was certainly different and I am not sure it is for me-way too many years with TV. But I am giving it a shot for mixing. With 2 monitors I think I would like having both-well I know I would. Going to try this week to figure a way to make room for both. I truly appreciate all the help and comments. You know the real old CW forums were really my first time living and learning on a forum. To this day if asked I would say that the CW forums and the Fractal Audio forums are the most helpful forums I have ever used. CWQ since the 90's and Fractal since 2009. 🙂
  2. follow- was the only way I saw to get the follow topic button again after I posted 🙂
  3. So I am searching youtube for demos of folks mixing-I have watched a zillion-well almost a zillion. I bought some wave plugin when promotions were on, still are I think. so I have maybe15. I also have around 15 demos of theirs. I asked how do I remove he demos because they are not listed separately in Win10x64 and the waves Central portal thing has no way to do this. I was told that the portal has cleanup option and will remove ALL waves plugins? Then I have to re-install my paid for plugins. I am sorry but that is the lamest thing I have ever heard. I know I can exclude them in CW plug mgr, but so irritating. I bought these on a whim since I own many plugins including Ozone 10 advanced, Neutron 4 advanced and Nectar 4 advanced plus many others. Guess I am really posting to sort of vent at stupid system. BUT, here comes the dumb question, does uninstalling and reinstalling have any effect on my projects that use these plugins? If there is a chance of that then instead I will just exclude them in the cw plug mgr. Also wish someone would create a more robust plug in mgr=I remember someone did way back in Sonar I think. I would pay for one that let me really create what I wanted. I probably do not have near as many plugins as most folks but I do have 504 (that includes all the CW plugins) Thanks
  4. I will see if I can make room for a second monitor-my graphics card and PC will definitely take it-Thanks to all
  5. OK thanks. I am going to see how comfortable I feel mixing with console view- I do like recording in track view-so that's good!
  6. Full disclosure-I have had and used CW Since before CWPA 9, so long time. BUT, big BUT, I never really recorded. I always was playing out in bands but also in duo's and trio's. I used CW for creating my own backing tracks. This is part of the reason I am lacking lots of little details. My question: Now I am ONLY recording- I have a zillion backing tracks saved. I ALWAYS used Track View exclusively. At this late stage (recording only) is it worth trying to switch to using the console view, like I am guessing most folks do for recording? good question for me I think and this is where to ask. Thanks so much folks Frank aka Pathfinder
  7. OK. I sure hope I can ask this correctly. Watched a video and cannot find it now but also nothing was explained real well (for me anyway) Guy had all the expected band instruments (ALL) going to their own individual busses and and also a common bus (say, all instrument bus) so while working on, say, vocals he could (QUICKLY) change volume, eq, whatever of the instruments all at once and NOT effect the vocals. Am I making sense? I would like to be able to do that ( not just because of the vocals) but I don't see how without having to go to each instrument and mute the master send in each one at a time. I need the master active of course to work on the vocals (or would I also give the vocals another separate bus??????. There actually are a couple of reasons I would like to learn how to do this. The only thing I see is to have the special ALL instrument bus have a send to the master bus so when I get down to mastering the hole project the instruments will feed the master and I would then turn off (mute) the ALL instrument common bus. OK I am confusing myself now. Does this ring a bell for anyone? This may be a common "trick?" studios use I don't know. Bottom line: Does anyone else do this or is this something that is not worth the hassle? Of course I could just be crazy! Thanks
  8. I still have my Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 disk 🙂 Plus all the Sonars
  9. Thanks for the Good Luck but I pretty much know what I want and what I can afford-which may not be the same thing. All the tube LDC mics I have owned suited me fine-hence, I want another one and Warm Audio fits the bill for me- This thread has helped convince me of that-which is a good thing! Thanks for the good luck wish-we all need that! 🙂
  10. My WA -87r2 is basically a wa-67 without the tube-according to Warm Audio!
  11. The wa-251 is one of the mics I am looking at. That and the WA-47 and WA-CX12.
  12. I had a Stellar CM5 LDC tube mic, which IMHO, was the same guy that runs warm audio but that's another story. Like an idiot, I sold it. But I have owned many mics. I am not sure what you consider budget, but for me, $1,000 is not a budget mic. I know for actual studios that is a budget mic. I am in a small spare bedroom at home. Also, I have found that LDC Tube mics suit my voice better that a non-tube. But like I said if I could afford a higher end non-tube mic I would get one. I think that's the difference for me. It's all about budget and for my $$$ and style, the warm Audio LCD tube mics in the $1k range are better "for me" than any non-tube mic under $1.5K. I appreciate your input always, here and in other threads. Thanks
  13. I did search but didn't find threads to help my decision. I tend to like the warmth and sound of a Large Diaphragm Tube Condenser mic for MY vocals . Presently have a NON tube NEW WA87r2 but really want a tube mic. Was an impulse buy. Supposedly it is a warm audio WA-67 non tube version of the 67. I also like Warm audio mics but doesn't have to be. My budget for the mic is $1,000. I do have a warm audio wa12 mic pre also. *****************any suggestions would be appreciated---I do mean any, I open to all suggestions.....I was looking at the Warm Audio WA-47. Why do they make their mics so huge? The originals they model are NEVER as huge. -BTW, too late by 10 days, to return the WA87r2 and I am a VERY GOOD Sweetwater customer (have had platinum card forever) for 20 years. Kind of made me mad but it is what it is. Thanks as Always
  14. That is pretty much what I have been doing most of my CW life (early90's) I always thought that was wrong, as stated above. So do you delete the 2 tracks or just delete the audio in the track? I must be doing something incorrectly. I also rename projects to where I end up with 7 or 8 with the date on the end as a reference. Another bad habit I imagine.
  15. That's what I use to do, record, undo, etc. I really want to avoid the missing file stuff I use to come up with and 99% of the time it was a wav. file. Which could only be vocal or guitars because everything else I do is midi and not bounced until I am done with vocals nd guitars..........
  16. Thanks- I remember doing (should say trying) this way back when, but never really learned it. I found 3 other videos, so I have 4 videos to learn from now! Thanks very much 🙂
  17. I believe this is what got me into a mess before-not understanding of course. I would record a vocal and then undo recording. Repeating this process many times in the project. Guitars I normally get right the first time but still? What is the best practice if I want\need to do this until I am happy with the vocal? I will gladly watch\read any necessary video tutorials, etc. Need to know what to look for. sorry for the basic question again. Just trying to end my old bad habits and replace with the proper or most used approach. Thanks very much
  18. Same time I was getting all the 502 Gateway errors for this forum I kept being pushed to a page that talked about Next and New Sonar-no prices that I saw-explained some features- had lots of graphics also. etc, etc.
  19. Yes me too! Finally just got in. Well, new add page looks cool at least 🙂
  20. My reply was NOT an insult, it was a realistic observation. But hey, facts do not matter in this world anyway so Cool! wish you all the best!
  21. Yes and you the rightous are certainly helping the OP with his issue. Gosh, thanks for jumping in-so cordial!
  22. I am not attacking you, just trying to understand your logic behind your choice! You can debate back and forth about this or you can realize the internet is not the big scary dark hell on fire place. Jeeeezz-it's the internet. Sorry but as I see it you have 2 choices: The right choice: activate online at a friends house or something as mentioned above. Or however you choose to get online. Takes less than a minute! Wrong choice: keep posting about it and DO NOTHING
  23. Yes "I" Know all that. Maybe reply to the person who asked the question-no biggie-just sayin 😉
