Definitely was Focusrite. They put out new drivers yesterday. Talked to support nd got it all straightened out. Thanks Noel, Jonathan and the forum for tolerating this old combat vet-Truly an over whelming experience for me. Being as sick as I am, my music was relly all I could do until things get better. And they will 🙂

Just opened 10+ projects in a row wo ith Roland octa capture. For the last 3 days I couldn't open more than one and freeze. So Noel guess I have to believe is correct. I always like the Octacapture- NOW for my phone call to Focusrite support Thanks

I will-. Still want to try the Roland since it will only take 20 minutes to set it up....Ig th Octa Capture works then I really have good eveidence for Focusrite when I can ll them Thanks again Frank

I am removing all focusrite things and will try my Roland octa capture which was fine on win 10 and Roland says fine for win 11. Guess we will see. Obviously if this works, it is focusrite. I have said all along that the only changes before this started PERIOD-were 1. upgrade from win 10 pro to Win 11 Pro , which was done thru the microsoft site 2. Focusrite 4th Gen 18i20 driver and FW updates. That's it. Before that everything was perfect............

Well NOel, I do appreciate you looking at the file. I am sure you realize that Sittin on the doc file has nothing to with this because it has happened with all of the projects. That project just happened to be in the dump file I sent. There is NOTHING else using Focusrite. I was under the impression a dump file would disclose the issue? Evidently. Also, I removed all instance of the 4th Gen 18i20 using focusrite documentation. I then re installed my 3rd Gen 18i20-completely different FW and drivers. Same thing happened. I do not use or have installed\connected any other device that would be looking for asio drivers. I don't understand dump files obviously. The issue is here and it is not going away...................Guess that's it for me. Thanks again Noel and thanks to the fellow sonarites who tried to help

Yes your right-uninstalling is useless, not to mention that besides running sfc 2X I also did the repair install win 11 offers. Prtetty cool actually. I did disable core parking as everyone suggest and after the repair install it was v back on so I know that worked Thanks Jeremy-sound advice Johnathan Sasor has the dump file so we'll see

I have decided that win 11 MUST have something to do with it. Win 11 upgrade to pro from win 10 pro+new FW update for 4th Gen focusrite 18i20 and installing MS Home and Business office were the ONLY CHANGES made to my PC before this started. But I still have my 3rd gen 18i20 and it did the SAME THING-so it's NOT focusrite, as far as I can tell. There ae many horror storys about Win 11 recent updates wiping out some nvme.2's but thats not my issue. I also found the updates and removed them, which is a good feature of win 11. I have not hear back from CW about this since I shared the dump file. So I am going give Sonar one more try by wiping my OS drive and re installing win 10 pro. If all is well I will use my NEW Asus gaming laptop to go on the internet. I bought the gaming one because I wanted the power, I turned off the Light crap and garbage. My PC will ONLY be on the internet for Sonar and al daw related vsts-updates. 95% of my VSTS (that Iuse) are Izotope. I hate to so this since everything was so smooth before August 25th, the day I upgraded. Even though the windows.old folder is present and untouched win 11 is telling me I must have deleted other files it needs to go back????Can't go back because windows which doesn't really make sense because I have not deleted ANYTHING but the august 25th update that was rep[orted to cause the data loss I spoke of above. But I still will ONLY USE the FREE SONAR because their is still a chance it is Sonar.

I believe that Jonathan Sasor has the dump file now. Fingers crossed. He has contacted me more than once about it. Had to share it with him today. I thought I did that but evidently I didn't because he emailed me saying he needed access. . Duh.....On Me!

I sent the google drive link to Jonathan S of CW again just now. I just cannot upload them to the CW form submission or here. Hopefully he will be able to retrieve the dump file. I do have around 4 sys dump files. I sent him the last one from today 8/27/2025. I will post the others to the google drive an share the link with CW if they want mor4ee. although I have to believe they would all be the same but o its easy to up[load them-it does take around 20 minutes though for each file. I would feel much better if Jonathan S. told me he got the file or even that I shared it wrong so I could try again. Right now I have no Idea if the google share worked or not..............

So I sent the link to CW support guy, Jonathan Sasor.........Hopefully I did it correctly so he can h get the file.

Thanks AB99, I am not feeling sorry for myself, I chose to go to Viet Nam, my choice. I am JUST OVERWHELMED. I di finally upload the dump file to Google drive . Now I need to find the email address to send and share it. Thanks and many of the folks here and in the original thread tried to be helpful. But some jus had to throw little digs in without knowing the whole story............. Jeeeezzzz. The world is turning into a cynical place, bu it's like i can move 🙂

Oh I don't. Look I know I am not the only person with Cancer (CML) on this forum-plus severe anemia that they cannot find the cause and I get transfusions every month for now. Also waiting for back surgery for severe spinal stenosis... 2 months away............Otherwise I am fine. I don't need crappy remarks like yours and some others. I AM TRYING

I am looking at the dump file and using google trying to see if I can understand wht the issue is. although CML(that's Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) fog your brain a bit I am gib ving it a try. I wish could copy\paster the test in the dump but I haven't found out how, if possible, yet. Thanks again

I appreciate the info and the empathy..........I installed the WinDbg from Microsoft for the hell of it. dump files open no problem. Issue is I do not understand what I am looking at 🙂 Got a new dump file just now and it s still very large, even compressed. BUT, the forum and the CW support Form submission place both say they exceed the 4.8MN limit? They are NOT that large. At least not on my C drive.

I also know that you and greg and others are trying to help...But it does not help me... Sorry.

Thanks you but I do NOT want to pay a dropbox subscription-Is that really that hard to understand? Is it really beyond the pale to expect the company that sells the product to have a way for their OWN DUMP files to be uploaded so they can help their customers and THEMSELVES?

So is the cakewalk OFFICIAL SUPPORT FORM not a file dropping site? what the heck is it for then? tiny dump files?

Clear directions to do what? I know how to upload a file. I also filled in my full name and email address and I guess my GOOGLE photo (whatever that is needed for by CW?) at the Cakewalk Support form????? I do not want to SIGN up for dropbox....

Both this forum and a link sent to m e by support will NOT allow the large files to be uploaded??? This thread may get closed or deleted but after 35 years of pouring my $$$ into Cakewalk products I am tossed aside. I did get a response but the link would NOT allow the dump files to be uploaded. I don't get it. It truly saddens me after 35 years.........

Yes I think I will be fine with it also. I have all my install files since Sonar began-Even have my CWPA 9 CD. I did just add the paths o my VST folders into Plat......... But I fear Platinum will cease to work down the road if Microsoft has there way.

I was going to subscribe but not so sure now.................I have valid licenses for Reaper am\nd studio One, but at my age and health issues I really would rather not switch.............

Tried that still exceeds 1 file is only 2.93mb and supposed limit is 4.88mb? Jeeezzz! Also the cakewalk submission form says this:"The name, email, and photo associated with your Google account will be recorded when you upload files and submit this form" MY PHOTO??????????
