  1. While the Sonitus plugs are very nice, I would suggest getting even a free version of Melda Productions MConvolutionEZ or REmatrix Player. They come with a good sized collection of real spaces and sound more authentic to my ear. Of course, you can always get the pay versions if you like.
  2. I have always only used the Mixbus Regular version for certain projects where that sound is needed. It has always served me well. Until they iron out the midi features I won't be jumping ship for 32c.
  3. Sounds great!! MIDI EDITING IS HORRIBLE!!!!!
  4. Noel, said it was ok to say so, He sent me a private message that contained a link to a new build version soon to be released! I guess I'm a real live beta tester now!!! LOL
  5. You can still access your old account for Cakewalk if you have one. I just checked this morning and the old account page is still functioning as well as the Cakewalk Command Center. Just download and put in your registration code and you are good to go.
  6. Just Google outdoor sample files and you should get a list.
  7. The AIR plugs are old and VST2 and have never worked properly when saved in projects but now work great!!
  8. Just want to give everyone a heads up. As I stated before, I have always had trouble with ALL of my AIR plugins not retaining the presets or tweaks when reopening a project. Noel was kind enough to work on the problem and it seems to have been successful!!! I am now able to use the AIR plugs with CbB not having any problems remembering the settings when the project is reopened!!!! HUGE kudos to my guy, Noel!!!
  9. How would you access the other banks, for instance, there are many different banks of presets in both Xpand 2 and Velvet, not to mention Vacuum Pro? I tried resetting the GM numbers in Sonar Platinum and the AIR plugs still come up with the default settings.
  10. My only concern here would be that most people don't listen on $80 earbuds!!!
  11. Noel and msmcleod were asking what versions of the AIR Xpand2 and Velvet I was having trouble with. Xpand 2- ver.2.27.1000 Velvet- ver. 1.0 Btw, Vacuum Pro has the same problem.
  12. I always use custom settings. The AIR plugs always come back on a default setting and I have to go to my folder where I saved my settings and manually reload it. Quite a pain. I will check the versions of the plugs and post them here. The version of Cakewalk is the current version.
  13. Msmcleod, I usually pull up Xpand2 and Velvet but only can use them to record to audio in real time since I can't rely on them to reload properly.
  14. Noel, the AIR plugs are authorized but I wonder if it has something to do with them being initiated thru Ilok. I run the computer registration, not the hardware ilok.
  15. Is this also a fix for older vst2 plugins? I like to use the AIR plugins but they never reload in the project correctly. I have tried the Save as.. workaround and at best, it's sporadic. I hope this fix works!!
  16. You can usually find Sonivox Eighty Eight very cheap often and it is astounding for the price!! Addictive Keys is very good and is on sale a lot.
  17. I always leave my master bus level slider set at 0. It never moves. I have the limiter in the FX bin but bypassed! I then start on the mix on my tracks with a target of -3 to -6 on the master bus output meter. When the mix is close to what I want I then activate the limiter with the output on the limiter set to -0.3. Then adjust the threshold to your preference. This is the way I have always used a limiter on the master bus. Remember to always put the limiter very last in the chain and if you use ProChannel set the fx bin to pre. This way the ProChannel FX are feeding into the FX bin thus assuring the limiter the very last processor of the mix. Everyone works differently but this workflow has been my foundation for many, many years. Even back in the hardware days.
  18. Had to search a while to find the update since I couldn't use Melodyne updater from the error problem. Once I located, the download and install went without a hitch.
  19. If you're boosting that much I would say go back to your mix and start bringing tracks up so you'll hit the threshold at a lower setting.
  20. A lot of my projects are live musicians playing real instruments and midi vst instruments played by musicians later. I find it very easy to edit the midi if needed alongside of the live tracks. That is why the midi capabilities are important to me. While I listen to ALL music, I personally do not do EDM and I have never used a loop of any sort EVER!!!! That being said, music and creativity live in your work whether you're chopping up loops or playing or singing.
  21. Setting the threshold is a variable. Depending on the audio coming in determines what the setting should be. Different types of music require different settings. It is no crime to back the threshold down!!! If you notice, some of the presets are based around -4! That is a good starting point. My target area I pay attention to is the master bus output level meter. Most hard rock, hip hop, etc, my levels there are usually bouncing around -3 or 4 and the peak at -0.3. Music that is very dynamic is usually around -6 to -0.3. Those seem to be the industry sweet spots unless you are wanting to compete in the dreaded loudness war. That is a whole different argument!
  22. I use Mixbus standard from time to time for audio mixing and mastering but the MIDI is absolutely horrible!!!!!!! It does have a warmness and character to it that I don't quite get from my other DAWs.
  23. Hi, I had the privilege of having the Bakers use a quote from me in the marketing ad for Adaptive Limiter! This by no means makes me an expert on mastering whatsoever. I can only tell you my experience with AL and hope it helps. I try to set my master bus so it peaks around -6. Then turn on AL. The next step I have found to be invaluable!!! For CD purposes, I heard and read that the limiter output should be set for -0.3!! It seems that some older CD players will start to overdrive if you don't leave that little extra headroom. I know that a lot of you are saying horse hockey to this but I and many of my clients and tech guys tried it and there is a discernible difference. This also seems to help with MP3 conversion as well. For WAV digital downloads you can get away with the output at -0.1. But, as you have found, the master bus sounds better at -6 before hitting the limiter. As I said before, everyone has their workflow. This works for me and I master album releases for pro studios all the time. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  24. Hi, y'all! From Macon, Georgia!!! 75 miles south of Atlanta. That is Georgia in the US. Not in the Russian vicinity. 😀
