  1. I found it!!! The zone channel for zone 1 had somehow got set to channel 2!!!! You must remember on the M-audio Keystation Pro 88 (old model) to press global channel button TWICE to set the ZONE channel!! Thanks for your help.
  2. I think your still misunderstanding my OP. The global channel is set for channel 1. You can assign any knob, slider, wheel, etc., to any channel you want. All are set to channel 1. The problem is the keys themselves are transmitting on channel 2 and there is no setting to change just the keys to a separate channel. This only is so in the standalone version. The vst works fine. This has been a problem for a long while it seems. There was a post a long time ago on the original forum about this problem and I was wondering if anyone else was still experiencing it. Thanks for the tips but I have the manual and also the editing software for the Keystation. I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the software editor.
  3. There is no channel 0. Only 1-16. Thanks for the response. Just makes no sense that all controllers other than the actual keys transmit on one channel. I do not see an assignment for just the keys. Back to my workaround, I guess,
  4. Hi, guys!! Question: Is anybody still experiencing the midi channel transmission bug? I am still on version 3 and STILL haven't figured out why the sliders, knobs, etc., all transmit on channel 1 but the keys transmit on channel 2!!!! Yes, I have checked the channels on my Keystation 88 Pro. All set to channel 1. I don't get why just the keys are being recieved on channel 2. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what was your fix. Thanks!!!
  5. Let's hope that Cake is not moving to a rental only licensing model!!!! That article is rather disturbing!!!
  6. There is also Rematrix Player which is a freebie convolver worth having.
  7. Freebies that are good and fairly easy to operate are Orilriver and Dragonfly Room and Dragonfly Hall. Don't expect them to be super high dollar sounding reverbs but I have found them very useable as far as strictly reverb units go.
  8. I have been using the free version of TX16Wx for longer than I like to admit! That thing is so feature packed that I have no need to get the pay version. But be aware that the learning curve is very steep. It will take a while to get familiar with it. It is well worth getting it in your arsenal. The editing in it is very much like Kontakt. You can load samples or record directly into it. Check it out and if you need help or tips just contact me in this forum.
  9. I had a major problem with vb3 after a Windows 10 update version before last! I had no audio and some projects with vb3 in them crashed. I had to uninstall vb3 altogether. I contacted the developer and he and I chased that dog for about 4 days before he even gave up! Then, 3 weeks later an update patch fix installed. Just out of curiosity i tried vb3 and VIOLA! Everything was back to normal!!! Infuriating!!!!
  10. 7 is a straight volume controller. Controller 11 in some cases will control the brightness as well as the volume. Some vsts and vsti have a learn function on them so you can click on the knob or slider and a window will appear saying LEARN. Then you move the slider or knob or foot control on your keyboard and the vst feature should respond.
  11. My problem is I am running usually 10 to 20 vst instruments and fx in a normal project for me. Then if you pile Convology on, the CPU is strangling. It will work well on audio only projects but not working well at all with a ton of other costs munching away at the processor.
  12. VERY CPU intensive!! Barely useable but will continue to try.
  13. I NEVER use VST3 plugins, just VST2, unless the VST3 version is the only available plug, and have had sporadic results with the AIR plugs. I say sporadic meaning once or twice in 10 years or more. Thankfully, there are far better plugs around than the ones that give me trouble so I just steer clear of them. Still, it's perplexing and would like to know why this problem persists.
  14. That one still finds it's way into my projects. Even against the newer kits in SD3! The room mics in Allaire are stellar.
  15. I must correct my prior post!!!! GFX does work in the track FX bin allowing you to record in real time thru the amp as you would record mics on an amp. I was trying to get the raw direct track that was recorded with Amplitube in an older project to play thru GFX and that is when I found that it only works in an aux or buss. Sorry for the confusion!
  16. Got GFX and JAM yesterday. Pretty impressive software and unbelievable for free! GFX doesn't work in the audio tracks FX bin! I had to route the track to an aux track or aux bus to get audio. Still not a dealbreaker considering it's free!!! JAM is pretty amazing. I love the feature where you can import an audio track and it will scan it and show you measure by measure the tempo map. That alone is a great study to enter variations of tempos throughout your midi drum tracks for more realistic feels. I have done that for years but now to have this help to actually see live drummers meters is great. Can't go wrong with these. Just don't expect Amplitude, Guitar Rig, Th3, etc. Still, very respectable models and fx.
  17. I had the same problem with Garritan when trying to load an older project. The only thing I could do was create a new audio track, completely delete the old track and insert Garritan in the new tracks fx bin. Then reassign the midi tracks output to the new Garritan. I have not had to fix that problem for a while so it must have been a serious bug that was addressed.
  18. I have never been able to get AIR Xpand to save settings so if I use it on a project I just freeze the track to audio anytime I feel I have what I want. I have had luck with Velvet when saving the preset before closing the project.
  19. I am using nothing but in the box instruments and fx. Latency can be an issue but I have not run into any show stopping situations yet. That being said, the projects I work on that are live band or choir have been upwards around 24 to 32 live miced inputs have come off without a hitch. Latency bouncing around 128 and 256 in ASIO. Even my MOTU 24io would choke sometimes but the Studio-Captures have been pretty reliable.
  20. I probably learned more from other people's questions than any manual. There are so many knowledgeable guys and girls on the Cake forums. I thank the stars for them every day!!!
  21. I use several of the standard DAW products. For some reason Notion always crashes the Studio-Captures drivers when set for ASIO! A RESTART always brings them back versus a REBOOT. Reboot refuses to recognize the Studio-Captures. This is a common problem that Notion has always suffered from. Otherwise, they all play well together.
  22. I go directly to the interface. I have 2 mixers gathering dust with the MOTU. LOL! I have been completely in the box for going on about 9 or 10 years now. I use an old M-audio Keystation 88 Pro for a controller sometimes but I have been in the box so long that I am as fast using controller lanes with a mouse as riding sliders on the controller. It is pretty daunting at first, getting used to not having a mixer in front of you but life becomes a lot simpler. Of course, if I had an SSL, a Neve, or Trident sitting there, I would probably feel otherwise. LOL! Btw, I do music for a living so this equipment is in use most every day. It has to be reliable. I have to say that I have not had many of the problems others have had on this forum and the old forum. My problems mainly was waiting for the technology to be stable enough over the years. Thankfully, the last several years have been able to deliver the power that we all need for reliability and stability. Now, go make some music!!
  23. I don't know if the Octo and the Studio are compatible but I have used 2 Studio-Captures synced together since their arrival on the scene and have had absolutely zero problems. They replaced a MOTU 24io which now gathers dust on a shelf. I would think that there would be no problems as the sync system in the Octo is the same.
