  1. Losing any friend is tough. Losing a long-time musical collaborator and friend must be especially hard. RIP.
  2. Welcome to the forum. There is no audio with MIDI, only data. The meter movement you see is not audio, but activity. Assuming you're using a MIDI track and not a Simple Instrument Track. Does the track have an input selected? Yes, you have activity. Arm the track, then press record.
  3. Well, they're simpler. Probably don't have as many geegaws as CbB, but I never use that stuff anyway. I write, arrange and record my simple songs, and they do that. I'm simple, too. I am certain chart-ready songs were recorded with older versions of Cakewalk software and I understand that many folks want all the latest... whatever. Of course, if you never bought any of those old programs, on disk, then you won't be able to use them, natch. As Glenn mentioned, there are other software available, which have different interfaces and functionality, and may require an outlay of cash, but it can be done. I also am (semi-) retired and on a fixed income, plus some part-time work to pad the wallet, and I probably will buy the new Sonar when it's ready. Anyway, good luck and happy recording, whatever you choose to use.
  4. Easy. Just use one of your old programs, like Music Creator or Home Studio. I still use SONAR Home Studio 6.
  5. Back to my original post; All I had to do is sign in.
  6. Now I see the new update is available. I haven't tried that, so if that is the one you're having problems with, sorry. There are several posts about it in the stickies at the top of this forum.
  7. All I had to do was sign in, it was refreshed.
  8. "The Sit and ****". Try a dish from our Strummer's Curry and Vindaloo menu.
  9. OHMG! I'm positive I smell trademark infringement. Or at least "Anode to a Copperhead" by The Serpent Killers.
  10. Given the exclamation point, I'll assume that's a good thing.
  11. craigb itihrn: OMG! Now I'm having flash-backs to those friends that had one of those odd combo organs! 😆 Like this? My oldest brother gave me one of these when I was 15. Much better than the Magnus Chord Organ we had before.
  12. Ooh, ooh, I know the answer to that one! No.
  13. Here is what is contained in this folder: DX7, CS1x,CS2x,CS6X/CS6R,CVP 103/105, CVP 107/109, DJx, DJx II, EXS, MU100, MU 90, PF P-100, PLG 1 and 2, PSR 280, PSR 340, PSR 540, PSR 640, PSR 740, PSR 8000, PSR 9000, QS 300, RS 7000, SO 3, S 80, SY 85, SY 22, SY 99, W 5/7, AN1x, DX11, EMT-10, FS2R, MU 50, PSR 300, PSR 500, PSR 520, PSR 530, PSR 6700, PSR 590, QY-10, SY-35, SY-55, SY-77, TG 100, TG 300, TG 33, TG 500, VL 70-M plus some others that don't make sense to me, like GRAK.DX7 .
  14. Compare the preferences of SONAR to those of CbB and see if there are any differences.
  15. Right. If you've imported the tracks, they're already there so you don't need inputs to record them into a track. In fact, I think you should set inputs to None unless you're recording into that track. Welcome to the forum.
  16. Every kiss begins with 'E'.
  17. Did the VST scanner know the location of the plug-in? If not, enter the location into the Plug-in Manager's VST Scan Path box and try again. And welcome to the forum.
  18. I have really got to stop answering questions about CbB based on my use of SONAR Home Studio 6. Things have changed and I'm not exactly sure how CbB does Loop Recording. It's probably similar but I still may be misleading folks. Sorry. I don't have a good enough computer to run and record CbB, so I still use an old 32-bit XP computer with SHS 6. I have CbB on this 64-bit machine, but it's weak. Anyway, Loop Recording in SHS will create a new track (not lane) and record to it after you're reached the end of the loop point in the previous track, with all the same track properties, i.e. input/output, bus selection.
  19. He was shocked to learn you were capable of such things.
  20. How did you determine that it's "too hot"? Can you hear distortion?
