  1. I should add that I'm not a power player. I don't use a lot of synths or effects. I just want something I can record with reliably without glitches in this 64-bit world. I'll be using a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 third generation interface.
  2. In my retirement (now semi-) I am not yet able to afford a new computer. I Inherited one which we thought would be newer and faster/better than the off-the-shelf HP I was using that recently died. Turns out, it is about the same age as the dead box. I thought about adding some more memory, but it only has 2 slots(!), each with a 2 GB stick. Even worse, they're DDR2. I see DDR2 is still available in various memory amounts, but wonder if it is even worth trying to drag this machine into the 21st century? It is a NZXT box 9555 GEV, W 10 Pro (22H2) installed this year, Pentium dual-core E5800 3.2/3.2 GHz. I think slamming a couple 4GB sticks in it won't hurt, but what do I know? I'm a salesman. Thanks for any advice.
  3. Just so you know, you're talking to the creator of AZ Controller.
  4. Make sure the interface and CbB are using the same sampling rate. Welcome to the forum.
  5. What software or hardware synth is making the sounds. Press 'P' on your computer keyboard for Preferences. Ensure that setting is to the audio interface or sound card you want to use.
  6. I believe you can create and save Effects Chains and use them in any project again and again, no need for 2 projects to be open. "Effects chains Cakewalk lets you save and load audio effect plug-in chain presets called FX Chain. An FX Chain can be nested within FX Racks, renamed, moved between tracks, buses and clip FX Racks or saved to disk as FX Chain presets. Figure 447. An FX Chain is a container that can include multiple audio plug-ins."
  7. Install the old HD in the new machine?
  8. "By helicopter". Still cracks me up. He really flogged that guitar, didn't he?
  9. MXL 990 or MXL 991 into an E-Mu 0404. Or both. That's all.
  10. Coincidentally, I was watching a documentary last night about Max Steiner and how he pretty much invented movie music. I fell asleep before it ended, though, so I don't know if the good guys made it.
  11. The Preset box is divided in two; the top is recently used presets and the bottom is all available presets. I think. I can't t help with the scaling issue. Or the empty slots.
  12. In my early teens, my folks bought us one of those fold-up phonographs. Fold out the speakers (and remove them, if desired), fold down the turntable and crank it up. It worked well and was plenty loud. Fidelity wasn't a consideration. While in the living room, my father had a Grundig/Dual system that could shake the building, but never did since he listened to "beautiful music" at whisper-like levels. 😒 That was in the early '70s.
  13. Articulation Maps - Cakewalk Discuss | The Official Cakewalk by BandLab Forum Jeez. I thought I copied the link. Anyway, under Community>Content>Articulation
  14. It seems like the Bakers have had a little extra time to spend lounging in the forums. Almost like they have finished something and are just hanging out, drinking coffee or something harder and shooting the shizzle. As if the presents are all wrapped and they're waiting for Dec. 25 to hand them out. What could it be? Mugs? T-shirts? Welcome mats? Your favorite, long-discontinued synth being revived?
  15. Probably not. We have different complexions. I don't remember his mother, but it was a long time ago during the age of... what was I going to write? Squirrel!
  16. I've been working at the Fuquay-Varina (that's a town) Walmart now for about 6 months. There's a Subway restaurant inside it, much better than the McDonald's inside my old workplace. Anyway, one of my bosses was in line with me there and I told him I used to work at the very first Subway in Fuquay back in 1986. My brother owned it. He replied that his mother worked in that store in 1986 while pregnant with him. Small world. Oh, there was music playing on the P.A.
  17. Just add "solved" to the thread title by editing it.
  18. The markers I think about are always at the top of the Track view, above the time line. What markers are track-specific? Or do you mean from a track in Project A into a track in Project 7?
  19. Welcome to the forum. I would use a Track Template with the desired effects. Or a Project Template.

You're probably driving up the price, Rain.
  21. Welcome to the forum. We need some more information. What are you using to make sound? A computer sound card or an external audio interface? What mic are you using? This is most often caused by the audio input device and Cakewalk by Bandlab (CbB) having different sampling rates. look in the device's settings and in CbB's Preferences (keyboard key 'P') and set them to the same value, such as 48,000 kHz. See if that helps.
  22. I just had no problem copy/pasting a track from one project to another. You must ensure you are on the right track at the right time.
