  1. I used to rely on hardware MIDI modules. I don't any more. With the power in new processors and the huge number of good software instruments its very hard to justify hardware any more. However there is still a place for it in live performance. I still use my Sound Canvas for a few things. Its nice to have units but now I don't think its essential.
  2. Cakewalk only works with wav files and MIDI. Cakewalk will automatically convert an MP3 to wav for it to use it. Be sure you have not locked the track or tracks. I can't think of a reason you can't split a clip except for a track being locked.
  3. Welcome Mike. You wont fine a better place to get to know Cakewalk and those that use it. 20 years is a long time and it will take a little time to learn all the changes. But we just got an updated user manual. I think you will find it very useful. Have fun and ask any question. This forum thrives on answering.
  4. Yah!!!!! Edit to add. Some one did one heck of a good job. Now I can look up all the features added since platinum. Its quite a few too.
  5. You may want to see about getting Cakewalk by Bandlab. It wont cost you anything and it is a huge improvement.
  6. I have not had a bad experience with Sweetwater. If anything they are a little too nice. 😁 I bought some gear from them and about a week later they called and wanted to know if I was happy with my purchase. LOL I was. But that had never happened before with any other Internet store. Cool. It makes an impression.
  7. The FX Bin can be pre fader or post fader. See if one of these helps. Also if it the PC (ProChannel) it can be pre FX Bin or post FX Bin.
  8. One other place you need to set the audio bit depth. Files, Audio Data, Record bit depth and Render bit depth. I have found it useful to have Cakewalk use my good audio interface which is an Edirol M-16DX and have Windows use the on board sound chip for all other sounds. I also use ASIO for Cakewalk. In my case the Edirol is plug and play. I don't have to try to get drivers for it. All my DAWs and Video editing programs use the Edirol. Everything else uses the Realtek audio device.
  9. I really like these themes. I find them stunning. I have adopted your second version. It will be the theme I use from now on.
  10. I see them now. On mine they are relegated to the top and not too intrusive.
  11. What is your graphics card? Are you running the latest drivers for it? Do you dual monitors?
  12. I have had old projects that use the old built in EQ which was the Sonitus. When they move to ProChannel and the PC Eq the settings were not transfered. Very annoying. Not exactly the same thing but I fully understand your issue.
  13. Fine. One will do what one wants to do. So you knew that there might be problems and you still asked. What good would a positive answer be to you? You would still have to try it for yourself. Or you could hold off until you were more free to test. It is and always has been up to you to decide. At any rate what does that have to with this thread?
  14. I thought I explained that then. My attitude is all about trying to be looking out for my fellow members. I don't mind being wrong about this. I hope I am. Just be a little careful when things seem very odd. As for your post back then my thinking was and still is that the only way to know about Cakewalk is to try it. Sorry if that seems a bad attitude.
  15. Nothing wrong with being cautious. It just sounds too bazaar to me.
  16. I would be careful here guys. I don't know the OP and I doubt any of you do either. I think the whole thing is bit strange. That user name is a bit much too. X3 is way out of date. I could be wrong.
  17. Its internet wide. It started yesterday. All sorts of glitches and stoppages.
  18. I don't think one can compare video rendering to audio processing. They are very different things. Each frame in a video would have to be rendered. Audio is a walk in the park compared to that video processing.
  19. This is for the PRV. Is that what you want? View > Fit MIDI Content Fit all displayed MIDI content into the visible area of the Piano Roll view.
  20. It sounds great and I hope you have it soon. I think you are getting a great computer.
  21. I am bold over! Now this is good news to me. I was actually looking out for you. I am so glad you made it. I did not know who you were. Now I do and couldn't be happier. Welcome Home!
  22. Believe it or not there are just that kind of sounds and worse but clear and well recorded from other sources . Really, if that is your goal then carry on.
  23. That is the worse sounding synth ever made. Why would you want to use it when there are tons of great sounding synths all over the place? There also sample synths such as Dimension Pro or Kontakt.
