    re F'em - multiple issues

    • I couldn't install F'em with the Tracktion installer - had to go to download folder and manually run installer.
    • Then Cakewalk VST scanner wouldn't recognize VST3 because installer had put it in a folder "F-em (64 bit).vst3"
renaming the folder (deleting the extension) is one fix the other is moving the VST3 file and deleting the folder (had to rename it first before I could move VST 3 file).

    all good now.

What has your general experience been with the Tracktion Installer?  I've never used it.  I started just by picking up F'Em, the BioTek, then Abyss, then Hyperion.  I just always installed them manually.   Now that I have multiple products, I should probably look at the installer.

Has anyone bothered to compare the savings of getting synths piecemeal (as they become available) or by waiting for a new version of a collection?
I suspect that there's some savings but on the other hand you have access/usage of them in the meantime.

I did at one time.  At least for me, it was always smarter to wait until the VCollection comes out.  I usually wait about 6 months or so after a new V Collection comes out for the fist big sale (usually $99 for me).

Don’t know but I seem to be the only living boy in NY not liking those Roland drum boxes.

I never really liked the 303, but as a kid of the 80s, I loved the 808.

.... but Halion has always been interesting. Have I been missing out on anything cool from Steinberg? 🤔

    Yeah....Halion  :)

No snark intended - Halion is probably the most powerful piece of music software (DAWs notwithstanding) I have.   It's structure is very complex, and many people just don't get along with it (much the same is said for UVI Falcon as well).

I really dig it though - I still struggle with its structure, but you can get some truly amazing sounds with it.

  4. They do offer several at no cost as well.   Its worth bringing up Analog Lab and selecting the "Free" option to see what is available.   There are some great sounds there.

I received a 250$ discount code to upgrade from Horizon bundle to Mercury. My upgrade price for a long time is around 400$, and that would bring the upgrade price to 150$. I never got a quote that low over the years.

I know Waves WUP and pricing is controversial, but with this price, I would get many plugins missing and upgrade almost everything from them from version 9 to 13 to the current version without the hassle of many installers, so I’ll probably get it. And I’m on Windows so never any problems with OS upgrades over the years.

Check your emails for similar offers for those not on Mercury.

That is a great deal.  I think I paid around $180 to move from Horizon to Mercury.  I don't regret it.
