Two files I downloaded in the past seem to be missing from the Cakewalk Product Center 1.0.0.048 Add-ons file list; CakewalkDemoProjectsSetup_1.0.0.8.exe and CakewalkHelp_Documentation_1.0.0.21.exe.

Will I have to update my licensed version of Melodyne Essentials after running Melodyne5Setup_1.0.0.7.exe?  My install is presently up-to-date at v5.3.018?

The Melodyne installer is just a wrapper for the stock one from Celemony, so if you're already running Melodyne, there's no need to update there.

Product Center might not see some existing installs if they haven't been done with the very latest installer versions. There haven't been any binary changes to any of the add-ons for CbB, but the installers were updated a little while back in anticipation of Product Center.

As a loyal user of "Cakewalk" from version 1.02 "Windows 3.1"; I used and upgraded every version through to X3.  I am deeply hurt by not being able to receive even a response about being a beta tester. I was cutoff from my account years ago and tried many resets, phone calls, emails, ...nada. As the sales manager for software at String-N-Things in Memphis for 7 yrs.; I sold countless copies and service for Cakewalk titles. That being said, I am probably in the first 100-200 people to ever use the Windows version. So; if you got a response about being a beta tester;  congratulation and good luck!

Depending on when your application was received you may yet get a response, it's relative to when it was received and how many other people have already been admitted. It's not a fully open beta, so it's a restricted size pool, so not everyone who applies will be admitted, nothing personal if you don't a response.

This actually caught me off guard. Didn't the prior versions simply disable saving? The 3-month window I find a little odd as well TBH.

There's no change there. Demo mode has the same behavior in the current build.

Previously the end user at least had some control.  Off-Line Activation, and even a button to refresh activation to give you 6 months

There's a new tool that will handle offline activation for CbB, but its in beta currently. Signing back into BandLab from the help menu will renew the auth license.

Unfortunately the public BETA is now closed to anyone new. There was an announcement made with an invitation to apply to join the public BETA team.

Now we just have wait until it is released.

Details of the products can be found here Cakewalk.com.

You actually can submit an application for it still, which won't guarantee that you'll be admitted as there's a lot of applicants, but it's not fully closed off.

I started receiving this message. What it is ?

    image.png.ece03c9bac2c2618528e116981f0daf6.png

That just means your current activation session is going to expire in that many days. If you sign back into BandLab from Cakewalk, it'll renew the auth license.

    Hello,

Happy New Year to you all. Hope you're doing well.

I'm new in this forum, although I've been quietly using Cakewalk by Bandlab since the beginning of this amazing project.

If I may add an issue, this is it:

Audiomovers "Listento" plugin crashes as soon as it starts to stream inserted in any track. I can load the plugin (VST3 only plugin) and configure it, but when I click on Stream, it holds for a second and then Cakewalk crashes.

I hope this can be adressed somehow.

    The best,

    KeepIn

This sounds like it's likely an issue with the plugin itself, but can send us a dump file and we'll take a look.

I have just bought a Faderport ( single fader version ) and it doesn`t seem to want to work with Cakewalk. I have gone through the same routine I used to install my Arturia Keylab midi keyboard, which has some transport controls on it,  but to no avail.

I was under the impression that the faderport was compatible with Sonar/Cakewalk but on checking the manual I can`t find a suitable "mode" to set it to.

    Has anyone got any pointers?

    Keith

It should definitely be fine when you set it up for Mackie Control.

It does not work in the current version.   But it may not work in the earlier version either!  I hope to find out soon.  Thank you kind people.

It's possible there might be something weird with the file too if it's not opening in CbB. It should open though- you could try Safe Mode (holding shift when clicking open on the file from within Cakewalk) and click NO TO ALL when prompted about loading plugins.

    Hi all,

Not sure how it happened but I suddenly cannot start a new project, set the metronome and hit play and have the audio engine start. I get one beat and then it cuts out. Any ideas? I can't start a groove in Superior Drummer 3 by hitting play either. I must have inadvertantly changed something, methinks. Thanks for the help.

    Tommy

You probably have Stop at Project End turned on. It's in the Track View's Options menu.

  10. Cakewalk by BandLab is not going anywhere anytime soon. If anything changes on that front, there would be plenty of advance notice. We have no desire to pull the rug out from anybody. All of your projects from Cakewalk by BandLab and before will all continue to be fine in the new Sonar version as well.

Also as has been said in a dozen other threads, the current plan for the new Sonar pricing should be very agreeable to most folks. Nothing is fully finalized, so we can't give out details, but the team is still very hard at work on all aspects of the new version and its delivery.

I think it would be nice if they would just give us a patch to short circuit the need to reactivate.

This is unlikely as part of the user agreement for having free CbB is that it requires you to be connected to BandLab. All that's required of this is to have access to free software is the login.

If "they" don't, perhaps someone else will.

That's called cracked/pirated software, aka intellectual property theft.

Re-skinned VST versions of the sonitus fx suite would be yummy as well. There's still Cakewalk IP that BandLab paid for that is (so far) going unused.

There's some plans in the works for some of this, obviously I can't give any details at this time.

No personal experience, but opening them in the current Cakewalk by BandLab might work. Tried have you?

@Alan Bachman You can definitely open .wrk files in Cakewalk by BandLab. Obviously ancient plugins might not be there, but the file format is compatible with CbB. As far as some of the plugs go, you might have more luck recovering those if you have a 32-bit SONAR install, but all the actual data will load in 64-bit fine.

    https://www.davephillipsmusicstore.com/blogs/news/the-end-of-an-era

This was the place I bought my first guitar. First 3 actually. I still have them. I bought my first 2 amps there, my band got all their PA gear there. My first guitar rack gear, mic, keyboard, 8 track recording machine. Countless strings, cables, and a 100 other pieces of gear over the years. Basically from the time before I was in a band, all through my 16 years playing out, till the day I moved away, everything I bought that was music related came from there.

The first time I went there was with my brother when I was a little kid back in the 70s. We went together one last time on Friday. They were selling the guitar racks off the walls and everything else was gone by the time we got there.

It was the last music store in our area. Oh well. I still have Sweets I guess.

Sad news indeed. My dad actually knew Dave back in the day. Their shop in Flemington is where I bought my #1 Les Paul and Jazz Bass (among others), although that location has been gone for a little while now.

There is no download in my purchases section for these programs and I am trying to open up an old file.

I have a CD for Pro Audio 9 - and I have the CD key - but the serial number is missing and not on my purchase list, even though I purchased it.

    Any thoughts?

You have Pro Audio 7 and 8 serials registered to your email. You'd need an old version of Windows to get those to work properly though.

There's no downloads for any of those versions as they long predate making those available.

thanks for reply, however don't you think that after one year of waiting (the earlier update was of november 2022) + four months of waiting due to this activation problem, it's now time to do something and finally put the resolution of the problem at the top of the priority list? I understand the interest in the development of the new products but you have suddenly disabled the option and too much time passed without being restored.

We're doing what we can as quickly as we're able to do it. We appreciate people's patience. In the case of offline activation, this is not something that will impact the vast majority of users, so it's kind of a special case scenario. That said, check your PMs. We do what we can to unblock people who reach out.

Unfortunately I agree with you, however considering that it was certainly easier to leave the activation system as it had always been up to that moment and therefore it was done not casually, how I have to consider this "temporary" disabling?

Forgive me for being a bit rude with bakers but now I find hard to believe that it wasn't done on purpose. Not a word for months about this...just disabled. And according to the bakers, I should update now my system, at the EOL of CbB just to receive the latter update? At this point I leave this system as it is and I start to configure (as I have already done) another system with a different DAW (practically all allow offline activation) and my best wishes to Bandlab for the "new" Sonar, even if this will have offline activation. Maybe I have to study a bit a new DAW, as I'm doing already, but at the end it's not as difficult as it once was because times have changed and now they are all more user friendly. I learn finally a more supported a widely used DAW and then honestly, now, after having ascertained the consideration of users I think it's time to direct trust also towards others and explore different routes and possibilities...

Changes within the app facilitated that BandLab Assistant was no longer able to do offline Activation for Cakewalk by BandLab. There was no bad intention involved. The new method required for this just hasn't been formally released yet.

True, you can't gain back what's no longer there.  But I was curious about the process more than sound quality.

I mean, you could do a counter-gain/volume envelope on audio that has a pre-existing fade printed on it. You'll raise the noise floor the whole time though.

I’m not quite sure, but is there possibly an Easter Egg hidden in Cakewalk by BandLab 2023.09?

If you from the main menu select Help > About and then click on the upper part of the tallest building in the splash screen, a text appears that display the names of the people involved in the Cakewalk development. The notification ends with "Acknowledgements Thanks to over 30 years of dedicated engineers, who laid the foundation of Cakewalk." which to me indicates that it is indeed an CbB farewell Easter Egg.

But, of course, it could also be that I just haven’t observed it before. If so, I’ll walk out the back door.

Yes, Easter egg, but very much not new 🙂
