  1. For those that haven’t noticed, version 1.5.0 of Addictive Keys introduced a scalable GUI in November 2021. That was a big deal to me. Also Addictive Drums, Addictive Trigger and the effects DS-10 and RC-20 have all (quietly) been made scalable. Found in the upper-right corner menu under UI Scaling and Settings.
  2. When the Control Bar is docked at the bottom, save it to a custom workspace.
  3. Yes However, as stated in the subject line you will need full Kontakt from Native Instruments to be able to use it. That’s currently a $199 purchase (normally $399). Just so that you know.
  4. I’m a type 1 diabetic since many years, but as I still like anything sweet I haven’t given it up. Some two years ago I got something called Freestyle Libre which has been a total game changer. It’s a glucose sensor which I attach (actually glue) to my upper arm and which allows me to read my glucose level at any time through NFC on my mobile. The sensor also automatically reads the current value every minute and if it’s below or above my threshold values, I get an instant audible alarm on my phone app through Bluetooth. That’s absolutely perfect as my main problem previously used to be hypoglycemia while sleeping. Now the alarm will wake me up before I get seriously low. These sensors must be replaced every second week, but as they allow me to micro-manage my insulin injections my values are pretty good. And speaking of cheese cake, I actually had a big slice of that earlier today without a guilty conscience.
  5. There are no release notes currently available for UVI Workstation 3.1.4, but as far as I can tell it now comes as a VST3 as well.
  6. Yes, please follow system locale settings. Hard coded date formats has no place in modern software.
  7. Yup, there’s definitely a disturbance in the Time+Space continuum. Maybe they’ve stocked up too many of these?
  8. When saving a track template containing folders in a nested folder structure, the folders sometime seem to inherit the name of folders on underlying levels when the track template is loaded. See attached video. Edit: There were no reactions to this post, but even so the issue was fixed in CbB 2022.02 Update 1 EA (Build 28.02.0.037): "Folder names incorrect when loading track template with nested folders". 👍
  9. This is actually a 2021.09 issue, but anyway. When saving an export preset with Range set to Absolute Time, that setting is not persistent. When loading the preset it always defaults to Musical Time so that Start and End always displays M:B:T values, not H:M:S:F. I would expect the state of the time format button in that dialog to be kept with the preset. Indeed, not a big issue, but maybe it’s easy to fix?
  10. As a concequence of the introduction of nested folders in CbB 2021.12, the Archive button was modified into an eight-state button. Although that button has never been modified in any of my themes, and thus quitetly inherits the eight-state Archive button from Mercury, a change to the theme validation logic in the production release of CbB 2021.12 flagged these themes as possibly incompatible on startup. Well, they weren’t, but in order to get rid of that annoying message I had to import the very same Archive image from Mercury that was already being used into all my themes. Update from the appropriate link in the opening post.

  12. Great initiative. However, maybe the focus colour can be added to the user theme palette so that it optionally can be made less prominent by setting it to a slightly darker colour?
  13. Exactly. It was the word “any” in the OP that caught my attention and I thought needed a comment.
  14. As far as I can tell, there is no need to update user themes where the Archive image has never been modified. I’ve checked my themes and all of them display the new eight-state Archive button as I would expect without any theme update. These themes (Gran Vista, Carbon, and Lead) simply inherit the new eight-state button from Mercury.
  15. To me it’s all about the end result, not the way to get there. Oh, well.
  16. I have a lot of libraries from 8DIO, including the Claire Woodwind bundle mentioned above. I think it’s great. I have only been disappointed once after buying an 8DIO library and that was indeed a waste of $8. I have to admit though that I never ask for other people’s opinion whether a library is good or not. Call me introvert, but I only ask my own ears.
  17. The thought has crossed my mind. Problem is I forgot my eLicenser in my vacation home when I went back home in mid-October, so I won’t be able to see if there’s a grace period for HALion Sonic until I go back there in March and can activate the license. Indeed, that was a senior moment. Edit: When I finally went back and could register my copy of HALion Sonic 2 at Steinberg I got upgraded to HALion Sonic 3 automatically. Not a bad deal for $30.
  18. I thought this would be the first BF in seven years that I didn’t buy anything music related. However, late last Sunday I found a boxed version of Steinberg HALion Sonic 2 for just over $30 at a local reseller. My guess is that they had found a single dusty item on the floor in a corner somewhere. I know that it’s antediluvian and that HALion Sonic 3 was released more than four years ago, but should I ever want to upgrade, this license ought to be my ticket to a great price. Oh, and I bought a new TV. OLED. Black is back.

    UVI vouchers out

Last year I got a €20 loyalty voucher after having bought quite a lot of stuff directly from UVI. The amount was less than I’d expected based on previous years, so I asked their support what thresholds they had. The reply was that the amount could vary from year to year, but in 2020 a purchase amount between €149 and €199 (where I was) indeed gave a €20 voucher. That made me realize that it might be better to buy from third-party resellers after all. Loyalty must work in both directions. Just my twenty euros.
  20. Thanks! Now I ran the XLN Online Installer and sure enough, I got a new version of Addictive Keys. Version 1.5.0 build 211115 was installed (so compiled only five days ago). And sure enough, in this version AK is scalable! So much for "abandonware".
  21. That IS strange. I have AK version 1.4.3 build 210318 (March 18, 2021 I would guess) and this is how it looks on my computer. No "UI Scaling & Settings" menu option available for me. Do you have some other version? I wonder whether it has anything to do with Open GL. On my desktop I've got an AMD Radeon HD 7700 with 2GB VRAM. Not very impressive, but still good enough I would assume. I even started up my brand new Lenovo ThinkPad laptop which has a dedicated nVidia GeForce card but the AK menu looked the same. Maybe I should contact XLN Audio support.
  22. According to XLN Audio’s Facebook page, AD2 has apparently had a scalable GUI since 2015. Strange that I’ve never noticed it. XO is of course scalable, but when I check the other plug-ins (Addictive Keys, Addictive Trigger, DS-10, RC-20) it seems like every plug-in except Addictive Keys is scalable. The selected scaling is kept between DAW sessions. Too bad they stopped at AK. Edit: Thanks to @Kamikaze I ran the XLN Online Installer where I got a new version of AK (1.5.0) where the GUI indeed is resizeable.
  23. Yes, every drum kit, every MIDI pak, every kit piece, every effect, and on top of that also Addictive Trigger, XO and all Addictive Keys. The works.
