So most of 1 is in 2. You would think NI could just tell us what in 1 is not included in 2…..but no….that would just be needlessly customer friendly. Grrrr…..

I remember seeing it mentioned elsewhere that the Kontakt Factory Library 1 VSL symphonic library was replaced by Orchestral Tools in 2. Also heard that the other Factory instruments use the same samples, but some preset names may have changed.

So if you are using any of the previous presets in anything important you might need both libraries.

Found a list for Kontakt Factory Library 1 here: "all 1270 instruments in Kontakt's Factory Library"  https://gist.github.com/kyefox/9d2f4c11a820dd5e54e15f75f5989443

I don't have Kontakt Factory Library 2 yet to compare with, but this is something to think about when the time comes... I'm waiting for a better deal on the Kontakt 7 update from 6.

I bought (got for free?) the 8 track version and really have not delved into it yet, Maybe I used it to play a demo song, maybe not

Me too. But found it too limited as to the number of VST plugins you can use (max 2 plugins per project), so  I gave it up.

Bapu, this one ain't for you! 🤣

  3. I would say that releasing end-of-life software as freeware is a good example that all music software developers should pay attention to follow. :)

There is likely some usefulness remaining in most legacy software products, even if they are no longer being maintained. It always pains me to hear when any developer has discontinued, and then buried, a software title never again to see the light of day...

  4. @Niky Serrano @jngnz

Did you realize that using the thumbs down "meh" response to a post subtracts from the users reputation count? It really intended to be used for something you disagree with in the users post.

If the user is just sharing bad news with the community, IMO it is unfriendly to ding them for that. Suggest using a sad face instead... 😢

@abacab you're right, but with Modo Drums update to v 1.5 it was a bit unusual thing where the whole samples database got updated as well, first the whole sampleset was packed into 3 files (mododrumdata_000 to 002.pak), then after the update it's got changed into something like 10 smaller packs, plus the update supposedly brought a new kit in (where? I don't have it in any download tab unless it's in the installer). But my registered version 1 samples are already locked, did anyone notice that it will get unlocked after authorizing the 1.5 update? I didn't install the update yet.

No idea, as I'm still on MODO Drum v1. ;)

Amex console is my favorite console by them by far. It is default in most of my templates

I've heard that Amek console is the best one. I just hate to pay $49 for it right now... I'm saving up for 3 other $100 purchases elsewhere. ;)

I just can't find 2 other bx plugins that I want, and don't already have, to justify this as a "three for" deal!

  7. Well another thing to consider is that the re-sale value of Cherry Audio products likely just went way down as well.

Good luck with re-sales as everyone rushes to the exits. That's kind of like a bank run as everybody tries to withdraw their deposits at once.

  8. The time-limited download is just for sample libraries. The instrument and plugin downloads never expire!

    • For example I registered MODO Drum on 8-09-2020. The software is still available, but the sounds library (samples for the cymbals) has expired.
    • In comparison, MODO Bass was registered here on the same day, and the download is still functional. No sounds library necessary. Same for Hammond B3X.

IK effects like T-RackS and Amplitube are still available for download as well.  :)

Yeah, Knifonium is pretty unique, with great FX to boot.

Yup, an emulation of a hardware monster with 26 tubes!!! :)

    https://www.attackmagazine.com/reviews/gear-software/knif-audio-knifonium/

"As mentioned before, this hot beast has 26 tubes inside, each capable of saturating the signal in gorgeous, characterful ways. Brainworx has carefully modelled these using its TMT (Tolerance Modeling Technology). The result is more often than not glorious, unpredictable, and quite unlike any other plugin we’ve yet heard."

Seems like a good deal; I got VSM-3, Knifonium, and Soma. All things I probably don't need and wouldn't punt for at $29 a pop, but can justify at <$17 each as they might offer something a bit different from what I already have. Great time to pick up the Amek console if you don't have it.

Knifonium is a great sounding synth!!! Picked that up a while back. I'm going to take a look at the Amek console now. Already have the Focusrite SC and SSL 9000.

    :( <sigh> I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Modular is not everyone's cup of tea and I'm sure a lot of people jump in and then never come to terms with it and then at some point look to sell it.

While Voltage Modular was their start, the standalone Cherry synths have now become as big a part of their business model. All reasonably priced, but the original terms allowed for resale.

I think that changing the rules after a sale for any reason is not a good way to do business. And I have a pretty fair sized collection of Cherry products, including Core. I'm not planning on selling any of it, but I can understand why some folks might be upset with their new "business model".

Edit: changed above for clarification as I cannot find any Cherry Audio statement pertaining to "original terms" guaranteeing license transfer. But allowing transfers has clearly been part of their business model up until now.

  12. If you are running Windows 10 on your studio machine and it's stable, there is no reason to risk the Windows 11 update right now. Sure it works fine for some folks, but there's always a chance it won't like your setup. Why take a chance before you need to? Windows 10 is supported until Oct 14, 2025. That's 2.5 more years! :)

However, if you are running Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro is a great way to get more control over your computer without resorting to hacks and workarounds. Group policy editor (gpedit) allows you much finer control over updates, as well as other annoyances in Home.

  13. Firefox on Windows worked for me! I'm guessing the "egg" is web Javascript driven, so if you are running any script blockers, that might interfere...

I agree with accentuating the positive, but a great deal for one person might be a vastly inferior deal for someone else.  In my opinion, every consumer needs to understand as much as they can so they can determine for themselves whether as individuals they are getting a great deal or an inferior deal.

I fall into the category of someone who already has quite a few IKM products, including TS MAX 3, SampleTank 4 MAX, Syntronik 2 MAX, Miroslav, T-RackS 5 MAX plus Sunset Sound and Comprexxor,  most of Amplitube 5, MixBox, Lurssen, ARC 3, MODO Bass 1, MODO Drum 1.5, Hammond B3, etc.

So I need to figure out if the MAXgrade to TS MAX 4 is worthwhile for me for $249 with the discount/ 50 Jampoints. 🤔

TS MAX 4 would add for me:

    • Some new ST4 libraries that don't interest me
    • MODO Bass 2 upgrade from 1 ($99 w/ Jampoints)
    • MODO Drum 1.5 upgrade from 1 ($99 w/ Jampoints)
    • 1 new Syntronik instrument, Synth-X ($34.99 w/ Jampoints)
    • Sampletron 2 ($90.99 w/ Jampoints)
    • 2 new T-RackS modules that I could use (not interested in the Tascam tape units or the vocal strip), Farm Stone ($23.99 w/ Jampoints) and Fame Studio ($104.99 w/ Jampoints)
    • Amplitube 5 MAX 2 with some new stuff that I don't need
    • Tonex MAX that I don't need

So since I don't have enough Jampoints for all of those transactions, in real life I would have to choose just one item. But to compare them with the cost for the entire TS MAX 4 of $249, my selections alone would total $452.96 if purchased separately with the Jampoints discount. That would mean TSM4 would be the better deal for me by saving $203.96, assuming that I would actually buy all of that.

But here's the thing, that MODO Bass upgrade is the only thing here that I would really like to add. The rest would just be a big bundle of GAS for me! 🤣

  15. Found right after I logged in. Scrolled down and an animated colored egg bounced in and out of the right side of the page. Had to click on it before it disappeared again... 😂

But yeah, the prices are already pretty steep, so 50% off is not all that exciting...
