I am an electronic engineer who is past retirement age. Began home recording in the 1970s with 4 track reel-reel tape with dBx noise reduction and Tascam 6 in 4 out mixer. All still works well and I still have the master tapes. I play guitar and bass guitar and also keys just a tiny bit  but no professional experience. Brother plays guitar and sings. Son plays keys rather well and son and daughter sing, and they do have professional/university musical theater experience.

Went digital in the early 1990s with Cakewalk Pro Audio 6. I still have the old Windows 98 PC and FWIW it still runs Cakewalk Pro audio 9.

Stopped playing with this ~2004, but have recently started again with CbB on Windows 11 PC.
