[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2020.10 Early Access

If set the type to CC, you can type in the note value - then just change it back to Note. We'll think of ways of improving this in the future. -

@Sergei Pilin For the meantime, you can do it by making your selection in the PRV time ruler: -

I'll discuss with the team - you're right, there should be an easy way to do this. -

Articulations aren't tied to any clip - they live in their own one. So you need to make sure they're selected if moving stuff. Interesting issue tho... I'll discuss with the team. -

This isn't strictly true... if the event has "Transpose" checked, it'll pickup either the forced Track MIDI channel, or the MIDI channel of the articulation section rather than the MIDI channel specified in the Articulation's MIDI Event trigger. What's missing is an easy way to change the MIDI channel of the section (and it looks like there's a regression in the Event List View stopping you from editing the channel). This will be resolved over the next day or so... -
Cubase Expression Map list for importing into Cakewalk.

Yeah, I noticed that... we'll be releasing a fix for that shortly. -
Cubase Expression Map list for importing into Cakewalk.
msmcleod replied to Steve Harder's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
@Maestro - can you post (or PM) a small project that demonstrates this so we can get to the bottom of it? -
@John Roynon - is this still happening for you in the EA release? Some work was done to remedy this in that release.

I noticed this a few releases back... apparently this is by design for busses. -

Are you sure your base pitch is set correctly... in other words is F#2 actually the same F#2 in GPO (unfortunately there isn't a standard for the octave numbering). This is why we also show the note number next to it. FYI - you can chance the base pitch number in preferences: -
You first need to export your Cakewalk project to BandLab using the Export Module, then log in to BandLab via your browser to access the project that has been uploaded: Once you're logged in, click on your project, e.g.: Next, select the menu on the right to master your track:

This is no longer available with CbB, as BandLab offer their own free mastering service. Re-installing SONAR Artist through the Cakewalk Control Center should make this available again. I can't recall whether a custom install will allow you to only install the LANDR export utility, but it might be worth giving it a try. Normally we recommend installing SONAR first (to get all the included 3rd party software), then Cakewalk by BandLab afterwards as it updates some shared components, but in theory, the SONAR Artist installer should leave any newer shared components alone.

Windows is actually imposing this limit. The "File name" field on the open file dialog has a limit of 65535 characters: Once it gets beyond that, it simply goes blank: So keep an eye on the File Name field - if it's blank, you've selected too many. -

Understanding Cubase expression maps
msmcleod replied to Steve Harder's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
FWIW, CbB articulation maps are for the most part like Direction expression maps. The attribute type expression maps is closely linked with MPE (MIDI polyphonic expression), as it relates to adding specific control information on a per-note basis. When we come to implement MIDI 2.0 & MPE within CbB, we'll look at implementing a similar feature for per-note articulations at that point. There is actually a way to emulate per note articulations using the transforms and the input filters, but it's messy as you have to create a separate articulation for each note, and you end up with a separate articulation lane for every articulation/note combination. -

It looks like it's picked up your paths from a previous SONAR X2 install. Just go into Preferences->File->VST Settings and set your new paths. You'll probably also want to check the paths in Folder Locations and Audio Data are correct (they're also under Preferences->File ). -

Ah yes, this is part of the filtering. It'll only show folders with articulation maps in them. Also, if you use the search filter, it'll hide any folders / subfolders that don't have articulation maps that match the string. -

Previously after importing, you had to use the export button to "save" your articulation maps for use in other projects. This fired up a standard Save dialog, allowing you to create directories etc, to find a suitable location for them. But a decision was made at to automatically save imported articulation maps to the articulation directory. What you can do is organise the folders yourself in Windows Explorer. The location of the articulation maps is specified in Preferences: -

A small project would be more helpful, as I can more easily get to the root of the issue using both your articulation map and your track data. -

This all depends on how you've set up the events in your Articulations. If the "Transpose" button is checked, and it's set to "Drawn" then only the most recent articulation event is sent, otherwise it's treated as a controller and all articulation events up to the now time will be sent in order. We may offer more granular control over chase behaviour in a later release, but for this release we wanted to keep it simple - in other words Drawn Transposable events are meant to be musical (e.g. chord triads), so they're treated like notes. Anything else is assumed to be a key switch. -

Just rename them in the Articulation Map Editor. -

The crash seems to be in the ImpactLX-25 control surface DLL, although I suspect your issue might be related to running the EA release using non-english language (the resource DLL's for other languages haven't been done yet). -

msmcleod replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
This is a resource DLL issue - the early access doesn't have the translated resource DLL's yet, so it's crashing because it can't find the French definition for an item. In this case, it's missing the articulation maps directory. The only option for you I think is to rollback to 2009.09 for the time being. It shouldn't be too long before the main release is available. Alternatively, once you've rolled back, you could change your language to English, which will allow you to use the early access without the crash. You can always switch back to French once the main release is available. -
Cubase Expression Map list for importing into Cakewalk.

There's a couple of collections of Cubase expression maps in github: https://github.com/r-koubou/ArticulationMappingFiles https://github.com/mvy/symseries-exprmap
