  1. Hey John , actually the pause around :49 is the "start" of the tempo change. So the pause is using the faster 80 bpm instead of the slower 68 bpm before it. Probably 4 quarter notes with the metronome. Maybe backing it up 1 or 2 quarters would make it flow better. I could easily split a "full" stereo mix and slide it around to see where it sounds best. Edit the project afterwards , if it works ... I agree it doesn't sound that musical. mark
  2. Select your entire clip , bounce to clips. You can then split it anywhere you want with your FX still on it.
  3. I started feeling forum withdrawal symptoms creeping in last night. Feeling better now ..
  4. @bjornpdx @Miguel Carzola and @Leadfoot. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and commenting. Thanks ! After taking a break from this and not listening to it , I found it pretty easy to do a final clean up of the pause and tempo change. I think it's as good as it will get. I'm calling it done and moving on. I Thank You All for your help. mark
  5. Bjorn , this was a Wonderful soundscape.. I got the tubular bells comment and a slight touch of Blade Runner in sections as well. This was quite emotionially provoking and relaxing at the same time. If it were longer I could probably fall asleep also while listening. Loved the clean mix .. mark
  6. Sounds Nice. I think the Apollo has made an improvement in the highs and overall smooth EQ. I did really feel like I needed to grab my volume control and turn it up . It sounded a lot better afterwards. Going back and forth using a few other songs , it for sure sounds subdued. I know you usually finish up at -14 lufs , but it sounds to me like it's streaming quieter. Enjoyed it .. mark

    Exclusive

Bruce , I thought this was a Beautiful and Well crafted song. I Loved the guitar break and the ending outro chord. The mix sounds very Nice and well balanced. I wouldn't know what would improve this any , except for maybe replacing the word "exclusive" and "exclusively" with a synonym in a few spots. Plenty of them would fit and still rhyme. I Loved the song and production .. mark
  8. @John VereYes , I guess it was. Compounding the problem .. my global workspace settings weren't being "applied". That didn't help after making changes in them. I'll probably play with this a little further at some point if I have to. I don't really feel that this is completely solved , but I'm going to mark it as so .. Thanks for your help .. mark
  9. I have my "basic" workspace now set up and working properly , with all of the toolbars set the way I want. I will use it from now on. I just wanted to get everything set up and working properly on this last 2023 update. ms
  10. John , Nothing happens when I press "d". Console Does show up in views , but selecting it does nothing. Yes , screensets may be an issue. I could try different ones and see what happens. A few days ago I temp. changed my screen resolution to 600x600 . CbB opened up with the console view on top and floating. I could grab and move it , but not knowing where to put it I left it alone. Went back to 1920x1080. Maybe there is a way to redock it from there. ??
  11. @John Vere Thanks for the links. All of the videos were Very informative. The first thing I noticed in the "workspace" video , was that the arrows at the bottom right , for expanding it to see the undock options were missing on my normally used workspaces. None and custom. Only showing "multidock" no console. Nothing I did would bring it up except changing to the "mix" workspace. I brought my laptop to my offline daw pc and compaired settings. I found "apply workspace at project load" was unchecked. After checking it , I returned to my "none" workspace and it is now the only one not showing the "console" option at the bottom. But .. the shortcut I had earlier put in a toolbar module now works for bringing it into focus. This is a workaround , but still isn't correct. I guess after making and Saving changes to my workspaces and toolbars , they weren't being applied going back and forth between projects that were saved in different states. I don't know how my "apply" got unchecked. I've never touched it or had any reason to. Unless anyone has further suggestions , I'll live with it as it is. Thanks .. mark
  12. OK .. So this issue started after opening a Bundle File from a collaborator. (who used 2 monitors). This was several updates ago. The project opened with the console view in focus. I used the X to close the screen and the tracks view came up. Had a listen and Saved . I then exited Cakewalk , I removed my flashdrive (with the Bundle file) and shut down. Later .. during normal project work, I found I could No longer bring into focus the Console View. I ended up changing my workspace, edited my toolbars , and saved it. This worked for a while then , suddenly lost the ability to bring up "Console View" again. 2 more times with the same procedure. After that , I used the "offline" activation , not wanting to go thru it again. (I am an offline user). Everything worked Fine until the 2023 update . No longer able to do it "offline". My workspace settings got lost , and I did the procedure again to get my Console View to load up. I had a shortcut in the tool bars that doesn't work. File/views/console view does nothing except grays out the entire section where views etc.. live. I've searched online and found Lynn Wilson had a simular problem. Nothing suggested to him has worked. I have become "undocked" and the only way now I can bring it up is , changing my Workspace to the "mix" setting. This actually works OK and it's only 1 click. I would Really like to resolve this before the "Sonar" roll out . I'm not knowing if it will be a clean install , or just a continuation of a problem on my end .. Thanks for any insite .. mark
  13. You should lower your Avatar picture.. Your hair on the impressive but , worth nothing ! not legal tender bill ! is pretty shocking and impressive.. ms
  14. @KSband You are not going to Quit until I get this Right are you ?? @Wookiee Thanks for weighing in and confirming a problem. I am in fact , 1 beat off on the return , (after the pause) and tempo change. A Big mistake I made in this project , was sending my metronome to an Aux track , and recording it for a shaker/maraca track and Not resetting it for further work on the tracks. Lesson learned.. I fished all day and fixed the problem when I got home. Burned out now .. I'll repost the changes tomorrow without bumping it up. I Honestly can not "Thank You" enough for your persistance , and not giving up .. mark
  15. OK , several remixes have been uploaded and taken down. I think I've now gotten the bottom end where I Like it. Thanks to @KSband @hsmusic and @corey sparks for your insights. I've done a good bit of editing on the drum tracks , and a lot of volume automation on Vox and bass. The pause before the tempo change was a Real pain to get the tracks cut and moved properly , but was Well worth the effort. I think it sounds much better now. Thanks to everyone convincing me to change that ! @John Vere The SI drums were the "groovin" kit . I did have to do a little tuning on them . They sound fairly dry , but do have 25% of the kit reverb and "fast and clean" from the prochannel Rematrix Solo. @Paul Bush I Bloody Loved your comment .. That made my day. The link(s) now reflect the last remix per your suggestions. I'm going to let this one rest for a little bit. Thank You .. mark
  16. @jack c. Thanks for the comment , I Really appreciate it. @Bajan Blue Thanks for the listen and comment , the tempo change thing really surprised me . That's why it's so good to get different opinions. Both links now reflect a Remix. I addressed the volume on both vox tracks and fixed the reverb problem on the harmony track. Bass guitar volume is up with a little more clarity . I also added some low saturation on it. Spent a good bit of time on the "snare" I don't know how much improvement I got.. I also put in some "seagull" sounds in a couple of spots. I tried not to let it get too "cheezy". I did a "save as" and will try to improve the tempo change part in the morning. Thanks for the help and suggestions given so far. I can use all the help I can get .. mark
  17. Smoooth , I really liked the panning on your fretless after the 1:43 mark. Perfect drums . Were they EZ drummer? Did you use an epiano or was that your nylon strung guitar. Enjoyed it .. mark
  18. @noynekker Thanks for the listens ! Yeah it's the exact same mix on Sound cloud and click. I wish someone with the tools could do a good compairison. Sometimes I think it's more than their streaming bit rates. I've started a remix and did some further volume automation on the lead vox. The first part was for sure lower. I also brought the harmony track up a little. I also found the pro channel Breverb was accidently left on . Good catch. @corey sparks I couldn't find a drum loop I liked , and did this with SI drums in piano roll. The snare has been troublesome and have used several kits. On an interesting note , lowering some of the snare hits seemed to make them sound worse instead of quieter. Seemed to bring up the honk and hollow tones and lose the crack. There's a real big difference at 99 and below velocity compared to 100. Some of the hits I wanted quieter were in the low 90's. Raising them to 102 cut some of the lows and brought back the crack. I've noticed this before in other projects about the 99 velocity setting. I was then able to just turn down the synth and retain the EQ. Thanks for the reply .. @KSband Yes there's a bass. I'll look at it closer in the remix. Never thought about a pause before the tempo change. I'll play with that. Thanks for the listen and reply .. mark
  19. Hello , Here's an acoustic song I wrote quite awhile back . It's about living on my boat on the Tennessee river and compairing it to the gulf. I never took the time to record it , but I've played it a good bit at solo gigs. I'm in the final mix /master stage and think it's getting close , but I always want fresh ears on a song for suggestions. Thank You for listening .. mark Final mix .. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14682410
  20. I'm on the latest 2023 update. When I did the update a few weeks ago my custom workspace settings got lost. I had to do a custom one (before the last update) to get my console view to load up. I just opened another project , I now have to use the alt/left click to do a split on any track (as it should be) Still can't get my console view up unless I use the "mix" in workspaces. Something suddeny changed. I'll look further and start a new thread if I can't get it. Sorry Charles , didn't mean to hijack this thread , I hope your problem got solved.. mark
  21. I have No idea . I have been doing it that way for years.. After about an hour of splitting clips this morning .. it suddenly Stopped working ! I had just gone thru a workspace issue where I couldn't bring up the console view , and it Was on a bounced melodyned clip. So , one or more of these probably had something to do with the split behavior changing. I had to revert to the edit split tool . I'll try to sort it out later today and will try the alt/left click and a different project. Responding to this thread may have just Jinxed me.. ms
  22. Charles , I just put the curser where I want to split. With the smart tool engaged , I just hover over the top half of the clip on the curser. The pointer changes its icon and I just left click. Don't have to right click and choose an option.
  23. You seem to be the "master" of achieving the best cleaner tones from the different guitars you play. I like your crunch stuff , but am super impressed with the cleaner ones you post here. Out of your past 3 albums which do you think is the cleanest. Thanks .. mark
  24. This is a Very interesting arrangement. Fantastic guitar work , this worked Very Nicely for me. Enjoyed it .. mark
  25. Will , I'll probably Never use the procedure as intended from this video. What I have taken from it .. is seeing you use the Saturation knob to bring out the sub frequencys in a sample. It just worked Wonders on an acoustic kick track where I wanted a Really deep thud . Using it with the high frequency setting , also brought out the sizzle I wanted on a snare and cymbol. They both seemed to go beyond just using aggresive EQ. Sometimes it's only just a passing comment (or act) that can makes a big difference. (good or bad) Thanks .. mark
