  1. Delete won’t work if there’s a volume envelope
  2. When faced with that I simply place the cursor at the 7th Measure Ctrl A to select all, Choose Split, in my case left of split will highlight, and hit delete. Now Ctrl A again and drag the data to measure 1 . Note never start any data at point 0. Always leave at least one measure before any data.
  3. It is sort of like saying" why does the tempo always default to 120 BPM, I never use that" The answer is if you use software a little bit of set up is always going to be required and there are tools that do most of this for you like templates and workspaces. And I don't think it's possible to include every tiny little detail of your hearts desire using those tools. It is what it is.
  4. Fair enough, I've personally never noticed a difference because the cursor behaves the way I expect it to. I would say the smart tool was a huge improvement to my workflow. So that said, I would also think the majority of Cakewalk users feel the same way and therefore the Software developers had to choose something and they choose the Smart tool as the default. So this becomes a feature request item and if enough people like the idea the developers just might include it in a future release.
  5. In my signature is links to videos on using a midi file. They explain the steps to open the file and then change instruments etc.
  6. @Acosean AMME It was what I expected. You did have a volume envelope. Deleting the envelope removes the event.
  7. So is what happened was at some point was the Event List removed from the Views list? I use it often and it’s always been on the views list.
  8. I don’t understand? The views menu has everything. If it isn’t in my workspace it’s in the views menu. Have people abandoned the basic windows navigation system.
  9. Just select the tool you want from the menu in the top left corner. Or am I missing something.
  10. It says it can do this on the web site I suggest that you look there or in your manual for how to set this up. I am assuming it didn’t come with a ASIO. Driver. if so you will have to use WASAPI Mode That should show all available inputs If if doesn’t then do your self a favour and buy a real interface. or don’t use the USB. Go to the tutorials sub forum here and watch my video on using on board audio. but otherwise I think all you need to do is pan each channel left and right and choose the corresponding input for each track
  11. I was unaware that you were loosing quality when bouncing. I guess I never used it anyway. Modern computers seem to eliminate the need to have to do this now. But what I can think would work is to export the track and bring it back as an audio clip using the browser. or use Auxiliary sends and record in real time to a new track. actually there’s a lot of ways I can think of but all will result in the same thing
  12. I made him a video. If this doesn't work ?? @PAUL KEENAN
  13. You watched my video and have no clue! You need to find a different hobby
  14. To me using patterns is a lot more work than others methods you could use to create music. I’ve never understood the point of them other than for drums. I guess I’ve always figured out how to make my own parts a lot faster than digging though 1,000’s of patterns I was not a keyboard player when midi came into my life. I had absolutely no clue where the notes were. But I quickly figured out how to play simple bass parts on a keyboard and how to edit them into an ok backing track. After all you could slow down the tempo and even then we had quantize. I bought the Roland GR50 hoping to play bass lines on my guitar. It worked but because data storage was limited I couldn’t use the resulting midi data because it was huge. So back to the keyboard It took 30 year for my dream to come true and I can now play my real bass and just drag it to a midi track. But up until then I just got better and better at keyboards because I had to if I wanted good tracks. I now enjoy keyboard and look forward to spending more time practicing now I’m retired. then there’s drums!
  15. The minute that you change the file extensions you have created a new version that is not an updated copy but is a different version. I don’t know anything about bandlab but I would assume it doesn’t use CWP files.
  16. If your file is only midi you can post it in a Private Message to me as a CWP file and I’ll look at it.
  17. To show hide bus pane drag it from the bottom or shift B I made a video.
  18. I use ctrl W a lot. Best shortcut ever
  19. This happens when you have one track highlighted that is blank. Use either select all or select none before you export
  20. Shape events cannot be edited but can be deleted according to the documentation. But this is implied that you have drawn an automated volume envelope
  21. Sounds like you moved the volume slide on the keyboard while recording and this gets recorded as a CC event. Open the event list and look. Uncheck notes and look for volume events
  22. Just log on to Command Center everything you purchased will be there. If you forgot your login information Support will help you get it working
  23. @BGJammer I posted a folder with some of my bluegrass collection. I also made a midi folder with a lot of files in it. Should keep you busy for a few years. Link is in my signature
  24. No they are not dumb questions. And I’m glad you explained your situation. I actually start to worry about folks who seem to struggle and yes we’ve all been there before and I don’t forget how hard it was for me to change from hardware to software. I guess part of the problem with using a DAW is you really do need to spend a lot of time just learning how the stupid thing works an it takes all the fun out of recording. I’m still learning. I think as you start out best to do very basic recording and don’t try to use all the fancy things that are so tempting. Like Melodyne. I avoided it for a long time now and just figured it out this fall. Sort of
