Interesting.. I've completed been ignoring those new UA ones and haven't even listened to them! Thanks for sharing and I'll check out the ones you mentioned
-
What was the coupon for.. and is it tied to your account? 🤣
-
Thanks Craig, I've heard a couple of people share that same view. I'm inclined to think that might be the way and then jump in to the already anticipated Total Studio 5.5 Max when they get around to updating some of the others! Do you have any favorite captures from Amalgam so I can have a look?
-
The writing was on the wall, but I was actually a little surprised to see it today. I think just about everyone eventually gets a little burnt by buying and then a better deal gets released. I've been pretty lucky overall, but I've definitely got scars from a few! The great thing is, most of the time a year down the track, you never care and have them to use. Unless you feel the developer, or reseller screwed you over and then I'm completely fine blacklisting them and I'll never buy anything again. I have learnt to ignore statements like 'We'll never discount it' or "Lowest sale price we'll ever do" though!
-
Interesting to know about the discounts and you sound pretty similar to me.. I'm a bit on the fence really. Mainly because I own so much of it already. Tonex and Pianoverse are somewhat tempting. It would also add a couple of the new MODO Drums and Basses, but I have the original versions and some of the newer individual ones. It would be good to know what people think about the various editions of Tonex. Humble Bundle has SE and that's $30 in total. Obviously it doesn't include as many of the included captures, but are we really missing out on a lot. I have the metal pack for that already as well.
-
I checked that too... I take it that's not normal then?

Doesn't look like it: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/ts5/

You can use it on everything. It's really configurable. I paid £20 from memory and it's up there with some of the best clean sounding ones, but you can also drive it hard too. Great compressor. He could easily charge more than a lot of the more well known and expensive ones. it's light on CPU, so completely fine across tracks too.

Will be very interesting to see what shows up in your Product Manager, given that until it's on the IK website, it seems we won't know as JRR's description hasn't been updated!

FirComp 2 - VST3/AU Compressor Plugin (Pay What You Want!) This is an excellent compressor! https://jonvaudio.gumroad.com/l/fircomp2

Yes, very quick off the mark it seems from JRR!

Was just thinking the exact same thing.. I don't think that is updated.. I also noticed this too: T-RackS 5 MAX v2 Seems odd it wouldn't be 6

That's actually quite a decent bundle of plugins. Some heavy hitters in there
-
Same.. they make good sounding stuff, but their loyalty discounts are always a random mess and defy any resemblance of logic.
-
My only concern with these is that they will do the same as FET compressor and deprecate them so they're no longer supported pretty soon and offer a poor upgrade price.
-
That makes sense I guess. I think during sales people were getting offers for $149 from memory from 8 to X. It will be interesting to see if there are any changes to pricing and upgrades. I can't imagine upgrading personally this round unless they drop something mind-blowing, which is pretty unlikely (for most devs these days). I have enjoyed a couple of their semi recent releases though.
-
The new version isn't even released yet though is it? That would be the upgrade to X (which still isn't a particularly good price) I own X and it says $499 and this for for me! 🤣 "Upgrade from CS-80 V4 to the V Collection X As a Analog Lab user you are entitled to a special offer on the upgrade to V Collection X"

Completely agreed on all those and I use and love all of them, but I don't necessarily see them as much as a direct competition to the ones I mentioned. Apart from IK. In a lot of ways, they have a large portfolio and also do lots of emulations of effects. Native does do some great effects, (or more accurately Softube did for them!), but you often see recording, mixing and mastering engineers going more heavily into and talking about UA, Plugin Alliance, Slate and Acustica. The rest do really well in their own market segment though and many of those have found their perfect niche, albeit with much smaller catalogues. And yes, they all should really.. it often really does get people hooked!
-
While that is generally the case and given Waves subscription only fiasco, I wouldn't 100% trust them not to do a switcharoo, these aren't being offered in the same way as normal Waves freebies: I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to take a leaf out of Plugin Alliance's book with their freebies, or even now Slate. I'd see them both as very direct competitors to Waves and both have free plugin suites to get people into the ecosystems.

$1 Sample Packs - Easter Egg Hunt at Black Octopus

I believe a lot of the pro community complainied and didn't like the dinosaur logo, because they said it made them look unprofessional when they would open them up in a session with clients there, as they looked more like toys. I have thought it did look a little childish, but it would never stop me using them. Changing it and marking more people happy was a good move. They listened to their customers, which is what all devs should do. They get a tick for that one in my book 🙂
