  1. Development is at pre-release 2 now. Changelogs and downloads can be found on the Reaper beta distribution site which is publicly available. I have removed the link to this site as the Cockos folks obviously do not want any links pointing there. (See Bapu's post below.) However, if you are feeling adventurous and want to install the pre-releases, just go here ... https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=22836 ... and follow the link in the first post. It might be a good idea to read the warnings, as pre-releases are not production-ready. Strange requirement for a public download location, but as I'm a nice guy, I am playing the game as they want me to.

  2. One of my favorite ujam instruments. Really nice acoustic bass with patterns. Works very well with the acoustic guitars in the NI Session Guitarist Series.

  3. OK, fair enough - that's 2 requests now. I'm not opposed to the discussion about it at all, but you're right - this was really run into the ground ages ago and brought up again once the new paid products were announced. I'm not sure there's anything left to s--- -- hold up, maybe we're being a bit hasty with this lock... 🤔

  5. I can confirm that gas prices for end customers in Germany are dropping now. A kWh generated from natural gas used to cost back in November 2021 about 0.12 cent, then in the summer of 2022 it surged to more than 0.26 cent just to drop back to 0.09 cent right now. One kWh of electric power used to cost 0.42 cent in my contract for 2022. Now my new contractual price for kWh is 0.32 cent. And the electricity in Germany is one of the most expensive in Europe. I see that in France EDF is charging about half of that for a kWh thanks to the nuclear power. While the electricity prices are pretty high because of moving from coal and nuclear to renewable power, the gas prices are very stable at the moment and the effect of Russian war in Ukraine on gas deliveries is nonexistent. On the other side fuel prices and increased demand for services and good after the lockdowns are over was what was driving the prices up. While we have almost no control on fuel prices, because Europe has insignificant sources of this commodity, the ECB has some means of regulating the demand of services and goods. And that’s the interest rates. So basically they’re reversing the inflation trend by increasing the key interest rates which makes it hard for people to spend money on services and goods like there’s no tomorrow, but that makes it also difficult for businesses to get a lifeline loans. Therefore businesses are trying to fill the gaps by increasing prices or decreasing the quality (as seen massively in grocery stores in Germany and maybe everywhere else too), because they know that while today it might be still possible to extract as much as possible from their customers, tomorrow it will be hardly the case. As a part of business ecosystem plugin and audio software developers know that and are profiting. The virtual goods are obviously unlimited in quantity, so developers loose really nothing from their deep “no-brainer” discounts, instead they’re getting more profits during times of recession. Without these profits right now they’re toast. And the price for the recession is once again paid by us - the customers and it’s up to us to stop spending money for what we don’t need. And back to PreSonus, what new do they have to offer for 5 more bucks a month?

  6. I think White Tie doesn't have the talent to make something amazing. All of the suggestions people made about the new theme were simply brushed off repeatedly and we were told that he would simply do wha he wants. I said that his attitude was unacceptable towards paying customers and that any decent company would fire an employee like that. He proceded to delete my posts (he's the forum moderator). So yeah, Reaper is a company run by a guy who has NO aesthetic or moral sensibilities to see that the guy he hired is a talentless tyrant. I now use Bitwig.

  7. Businesses struggling to stay alive during recession. They seem to have learned their lesson since the last financial crisis in 2008, but sadly they learned the wrong one. They want our money NOW, ASAP, as much money as possible. But the only thing that they get is customers leaving a sinking ship and less earnings. And on top of that the interests on loans are increasing. Good luck greedy entrepreneurs.

  8. Bruno, to be honest I almost didn't try this software based on some of your comments. I have tried VR tools before and was never really satisfied. As I read your posts, whether you intended it or not, I understood them to be saying this is just another program using algos that are already out there that I have probably tried already. So I wasn't going to bother with it. Then Jeslan posted the examples. What sold me on it was the pristine reverb tails on the isolated vocals. No artifacts at all. None I could hear anyway. So I said if it can do that for the songs I want to use it on... I'm in! It worked. And it works well. The resulting instrumental track allowed a client to hear clearly the piano part she had never been able to hear. Isolated, without the vocals. The tracks I have tried it on all sound like the original (just a tad bit brighter to my ear when compared to the original.) I mean it sounds as if no vocals were ever recorded on the resulting instrumental track. The ability to send batches of files to the program is wonderful!! The ability to save settings is also a great benefit. This is a free program. Grab it while you can!! Use the MDX algo.

  11. Sure. I also remember that the people who came up with those UI's revised them to look better, to keep up with the times. The appearance of the tools I use to create audio and visuals is important. It affects the amount of enthusiasm I feel for using the tool and my mood while using the tool. This is true for instruments, software, etc. If I have to shield my eyes from a program that looks dated/ugly, I'm less likely to want to use it. I definitely don't mind functional UI's; my favorite plug-in house is Meldaproduction, but they have also made many changes over the past several years to their UI's, based on customer feedback. They're never rude about customer suggestions. If they don't like them, they dismiss them politely or just stay silent.

  12. A bit of testing indicates that for the few items currently on sale (most Blendstruments, Aura Guitars, Berimbau, Ambient Guitar, Guitalele, possibly others), the 70% off stacks with the sale price. The Blendstruments are $10.50 in cart, for example, instead of $78 regular or $35 on sale. The "volume discount" in cart appears to be wacky, though. One or two on-sale Blendstruments in cart, e.g., are $10.50 each, but three or more are $21 each. Usually the 8Dio pricing glitches work in the more favorable direction, so tread carefully if you intend to go a little wild. Edited to add: Also Bazantar is under $20. Hmmm.

  13. They're normal prices. 70% off prices can be seen in the cart.

  14. Isn't Reaper skin-able.??? Besides, remember when we had to use interfaces that looked like this? 🤢 In fact back in those days the whole OS would look like this too. Still got the job done. Just saying.

  15. It is very unlikely that it is a general multiprocessing sync issue in the DAW. It has been extensively tested over decades and if there was even a tiny bug there there would be thousands of users running into it. The more common problem is with plugins. Do the same test completely disabling or removing all plugins and use that as a process of elimination. You can export audio and choose to not include plugins. Definitely eliminate hardware UAD plugins in your test. Though less common there may also be a disk throughput issue leading to inability to cache data in time. Some samplers have been known to have issues like this.

  16. My DVA Fifty, 2 x 10" combo (is a channel switcher and reverb) retailed at $3499. I would (reluctantly) build one at that price, but only because I have a couple of cabinets and chassis laying around somewhere. Couldn't get "rich" if I was busting out one, even two every week. Hand wired amps are a "labor of love"; I don't ❤️ the beech no mo. I'd rather spend time in the studio... t

  23. Crazy. I just realized that as an owner of Synthmaster 1 + 2 I could use the Upgrade to the Everything Bundle for $99 and with the coupon code YMLP10OFF I could even reduce it to $79.20. Holymoly. $79.20 for 52 expansions plus an upcoming new version of the synth and apparently also all future expansions, that's not bad, I would say.

  27. The Wurlitzer 145B had a tube amp and the 200A used transistors. You can really tell when you play the 145B. The tube amp doesn't give the 145B more bite, as one might think from hearing "tube amp." You can hear its warmth. It sounds beautiful and smooth. I tend to turn to the 145B when I want the purest, most beautiful tone as opposed to some dirt/edge -- a more R&B suited tone which the 200A is great for. The 200A cuts through a rock or R&B mix much, much better, Of course, you could add distortion to the 145B, but it really doesn't work as well as the 200A and that's why I'm very glad I have both. But otherwise, if you just play them solo, the sound is not incredibly far apart. Check out the demos from Skybox Audio. It' s my only library from the developer, but it's so well done, I would be very confident in buying other libraries from them. It's just top-notch in all respects. Of course, I know that SonicCouture is also a superb sample developer. I'm pretty sure that their library is a sampled 200A. I own probably a dozen 200A libraries, and I suppose my favorite one is e-instruments 200A (although from listening to the Broken Wurli demos, I think I probably would have preferred that). But, IMO, even if you're completely in love with the 200A library you own, I would recommend spending some time listening carefully to the 145B demos from Skybox Audio and if you find the difference to your liking, I doubt that you'd regret buying it. Also, if you -- like me -- are really into Wurlis, there's another developer who has a Wurli library -- from another model -- for the UVI sampler -- Acoustic Samples. Their" Wurlie" library demos sound amazing to my ears. It's easily my favorite-sounding Wurli sample library demos I've heard yet. If I didn't already own a bunch -- or if they had a really great sale -- I'd pick it up. While I love electric pianos, as I grew up with a Wurli, it was used in our family band and my mother worked for the company, I have such incredible affection for that sound that no other electric piano gets to me as much.

  30. Glad to know I am not the only one appreciating how good this tool really is. The creator completely deserves a donation, that's for sure. I must say I felt the compulsion to post here and give my two cents because to be honest, the thread was being completely unfair about the actual quality this tool really offers and specially misleading about how useful and interesting it actually can be for the users of this specific forum.

  32. Troubleshooting by the process of elimination is "voodoo"? In the absence of access to the source code, it's one of the few avenues available for an end user to investigate. The "binary" approach I outlined is just a way of speeding up the elimination process in a big project. If the problem is truly involving thread sync, and isn't involving any specific plugin(s), this approach might not help, but it seems to me you're making a lot of assumptions about the root cause of the problem that are not justified by the evidence. I'll be interested to see what the Bakers find.

  38. A while back, I went through the process of upgrading all of my old projects to SONAR Platinum. A fair amount of them dated back to CWPA 9. While the projects would open directly, some were problematic - mainly due to 32 bit plugins, or old 32 bit DX plugins that were no longer available. There were also some UI/routing issues due to the differences in Skylight vs the old UI. The most reliable way I found to deal with older projects was: 1. Create a new project using the Basic template - if nothing else, this ensures a Master, Preview and Metronome bus is created. 2. Navigate to your project in the Browser, and drag the project on to a blank area in the clips view. 3. Tidy up any blank tracks. 4. Save as a new project.

  42. I thought the word was going to be Talent. A music teacher told me once that the successful artists have at least 2 of 3 attributes. Talent, Ambition and Knowledge. The ones who have all 3 are lucky. At first I thought this was wrong but then you think of an artist you might run into. Like the dude that will buy expensive gear and talk about gear forever, and read all the magazines and can tell you just about anything about every hit record and who played on it. They are always trying to put together a band and book gigs, but there's just something missing when they play. Talent. Or the person who has lots of Talent and Knowledge but you can't get them off the couch, No ambition. You can go a long way with lots of Ambition and a little Talent. ( Taylor Swift?) I'm very similar to Tim in my approach to vocals. What I'm seeing for me is I just turned 70 so as I age the components needed to sing are wearing out. I defiantly cannot hear like I used to and my voice is not as smooth as when I was 50. I will re sing the same song I recorded 25 years ago and it's like a different person. But it is what it is, and I'm not trying to compete with anybody or score a record deal. I just want to enjoy the process without technology getting in my way. I'm real happy to be in a place with my set up that works without fuss. It is defiantly worth the time and effort to get the Hardware and software under your absolute control and leave that part of it behind you and start making music. I try and not overuse Melodyne and have slowly learned how to use the other tools it offers like aptitude and timing more than the pitching tools. So now I can just be loose when I sing and not obsess about perfecting the track. Ultimately I like to get out in the real world and sing my songs live a dozen times or more before I commit to tape. Writing a song , recording a backing track and then singing the song cold will never work well for me. The singing has to take on a life of it's own, you might completely re phrase everything and choose a different melody even. It all happens when you get out there and belt it out in front of real people. And I'll end with saying , don't obsess about unimportant stuff like bit depth. It's not a deciding factor in making great recordings.

  45. Yes. We are still at the baby stage of digital communication, and it tends to sound harsher than in person conversations (or even telephone). Fortunately, on this cakewalk forum, people are almost always very respectful to each other and it is not an issue. And people like the OP who seek an apology are high on my list as great people here.

  46. Super simple. There is already the option to have tracks follow the bus color. I'd like a follow track folder color. That's all. Not super important, but would be nice and is hopefully low hanging fruit. I don't always set everything logically to go through the same bus. For example, in this case, I have both FX, FX HALL, and FX OUT going to the FX bus, but the track folders hold different variations of sound source. So this would be handy Cheers!
