Best version ever, featuring JP Jones, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and a bunch of other awesome players. I especially liked the singer from New Zealand. According to the YouTube description, this song dates back to 1929.3 points

FWIW I think the biggest problem was "guilt by association." Yours looked similar to the (many) posts in the past where someone would come into the forum, complain vociferously about how Cakewalk was total crap, get their questions answered politely, and then would never come back or respond. The main difference, which should have been a clue, was you didn't say you were now going to try Reaper After enough of these, I think the community lost its patience with posts that fit that profile. In general the community here is helpful and patient, to a much greater extent than most forums. I hope you didn't think my comment was a dig, it was more of a general comment due to a thread in my own forum about what can be done about the complexity of today's music software, which seemed relevant to this thread. Finally, Markleford is right - if you can produce a recipe that documents a reproducible bug, Noel & Company are very good about doing a fix. Over the past 20 years or so of using Sonar/Cakewalk, every time I was able to submit a reproducible bug, it was fixed (and often sooner rather than later).3 points

My wallet and free space on my hard drive isn't grateful to you.. but I am ? Quite a nice plugin. I really like the IKM Tapes and I'd say this holds its own with them. What I wasn't expecting from Acustica was for it to be less of a CPU hit than the IK Tapes! Given the price wasn't far off Reelight Pro which is on sale now and I was considering, this wasn't too hard to pull the trigger on.3 points

It is really a super-rare thing for anybody to become successful on YouTube. I would consider 10,000 subscribers to be success. 100,000 is beyond imagining. Rick B has almost 3 million. But these people are kind of chained to it. They are obliged to keep churning it out for their "fans." I think Mary Spender has been doing one every day lately. ? I have worked long and hard for the privilege of doing nothing if I want to. And I want to save time for myself for composing and other stuff. One a week sounds good to me. Let's see if I can even keep that pace. By the way, I did put up my videos in the Coffee House.3 points

I was about to buy a moderately expensive sample library, not because I needed it but because it's just been awhile since I've had a new toy. But this morning, with mouse hovering over the Buy button, I abruptly changed my mind and decided to have my real piano tuned instead. Although it's not a new toy (I bought it back around 1984), it'll feel new because I stopped playing it 25 years ago after it was last moved. I've had no desire to play it because it sounds awful, having never been tuned after that move. But I remember that it used to sound quite nice and once was a joy to play. Now it's just a nice-looking piece of furniture.2 points

(text form email announcement) The Unfinished 10th Anniversary Twenty Twelve Eight re-released soundsets now available to download for free! Note this link takes you to The Unfinished freebie page where there are 11 other free libraries offered! Back in 2012, I started my journey as The Unfinished. To kick off my 10th anniversary celebrations I have decided to make the eight soundsets I released that year available to download for free. All eight were removed from my site a little while ago in a clean-up operation but, were still available as part of either the Massive Bundle or the Absynth Bundle. Now, they are available to all and absolutely free! The soundsets are Absynth Geometron, Absynth Heliopolis, Absynth Metatron, Massive Ammunition, Massive Darkscore I, Massive Darkscore II, Massive Darkscore III and Massive Stratosphere. There are over 900 sounds in the collection. These are the soundsets that inspired my first forays into bespoke programming and also gave me the confidence to quit my job, move to London to live with my then girlfriend (now wife) and begin this whole mad adventure, so they all mean a great deal to me. Take care of them! To reflect their free release into the wild, the prices for both the Absynth and Massive Bundles has been reduced. If you have bought either bundle recently, get in touch and I will be happy to provide a partial refund reflecting this. Right, I'm off to create some wallpapers for the website, so you can enjoy some of your favourite The Unfinished artwork on your desktop. All the best, Matt2 points

Why not give it a try. With AHK you are making it replicate what you would do if you were saving all of the patches in Unify manually. So you are telling it where to move the mouse and where to click, copy, paste etc etc. It takes a little bit of setup using Window Spy to work out where the mouse has to click, and also working out delay times between clicks etc. However, the great thing about Phase Plant is that all of the metadata that you need is not only visible on screen but can be clicked and copy/pasted. So, for example, the first patch in Hardwire (Analog Reese), you can click on its name and copy/paste the name and you can also double click on the macro names to copy/ paste those. So once you have the macros saved using the 0-based index method for the first patch (I usually set up a dummy patch) they will get replicated across all patches and the macro names can be copy/pasted by AHK from each patch as it steps through them. You could just try a simple script to start with copying only the patch names to each Unify patch. I also have Hardwire (Kilohearts gifted it to me) and Tremor which I bought cheaply from KVR as well as the freebie Grattis 2021. I have now made an AHK script for these PP expansions and have Unified Hardwire and Tremor (cannot share the Unified libraries though - see below). One of the things we discussed over on the PG forums was the need to ONLY share Unified Factory libraries (developer permitting). That's why, for example, I have Unified a number of expansions that I own for various synths but I won't share these as I would be giving away paid expansions for anyone to use! However, it's ok to share any AHK scripts to Unify expansion libraries, since whoever runs them must own the library or running the AHK script would be pointless. That hasn't happened though mostly because it then becomes a massive support headache for the script author to assist others to get the script running on their system. Especially if they aren't familiar with all of the ins and outs of running AHK with Unify. For example, all of my scripts make use of my Ultrawide monitor (3440 x 1440) so I use coordinates that would be off screen for most 1080p monitors. At the very least, anyone running them would want to change the coords of any windows used which would then alter the coords of where to click etc. You can change whether the coords are relative to the screen or active window but I tend to work with the screen mode.2 points

Saw this video and noticed how the GForce OB-E demo presets sound just like it. But the Cherry Audio Eight Voice sounds nothing like it. It's like DCO-106 vs Softube Model 84 all over again. Pretty tempted to get this Gforce OB-E right now.2 points

Let's back up for a sec. I was merely suggesting using the available tools to Unify this bank for my own personal use, since I own a license for it. The Unified banks are only publicly released for factory banks, as the "Unification process" entails capturing some plugin data. Anyone can "Unify" presets for plugins and preset banks that they own. But for personal use only. Info on the "Hardwire" bank available at Kilohearts (most of the synth sequence in the promo video is preset "Star Chaser"): https://kilohearts.com/products/hardwire2 points

Okay, here is THE MOSQUITO COAST. I did a lot of things to address the technical issues people had here with the DESPERATELY video. Let me know what you think. In general I'm still figuring out what it will be. I'm less focused on it being a performance where I don't stop talking. I don't think anybody but me cares about it. Using pictures allowed me to do a lot of editing on this. There's even a bit of Elysion at the end.2 points

You may not know me, but I've been active on the Deals Forum here for years. Some of you may know me as Tiger the Frog. I posted these videos on the Deals Forum because everybody there knows me. People said there might be more interest in them here. So here goes... ? Please let me know what you think. People on the Deals Forum pointed out a lot of tech issues on the DESPERATELY video that I've tried to address in the MOSQUITO COAST one.1 point

GForce Software OB-E now PC with version 2. If owned, just log in to your account and download free. If not owned, it is now Windows compliant if that was keeping you from purchasing it. As an idiot, I bought it when it first came out not realizing it was mac only then with version 1.1 point

Toneboosters have retired their TrackEssentials and BusTools plug-ins and released them as freeware. These are top-quality FX packages. Compressors, equalizers, meters, reverb, limiter, and more, pretty much every effect you need to mix and master from the mind of Jeroen Breebart. I've long been a fan due to their FX being bundled with my other DAW, Mixcraft. They produced some of the first top-quality FX I ever worked with. These packages include such industry-standard FX as Barricade limiter and Sibalance de-esser. Plus lots more, including an EQ with mid-side capability and what is now my favorite vocal pitch shifter. To get them, go to this page and scroll to the bottom: https://www.toneboosters.com/changelog.html Manuals may be downloaded at the bottom of this page: https://www.toneboosters.com/support.html When installing, take care to set the correct path to your VST2 plug-ins folder. By default, the installer puts them in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2.1 point

You need to understand how the audio devices work on your computer. For example, I configured my Windows 10 parameters/devices so that Cakewalk communicates through my audio/MIDI device's ASIO driver while at the same time, I send the audio from other software (such as a web browser) through the motherboard audio codec (as controlled by Windows' Audio/Sound) to the front audio output of my PC. I could plug in a pair of headphones, but for my needs I chose to connect it to my audio/MIDI interface. If I want Cakewalk to send the audio to the headphone jack on the front of my PC, or the output jack on the back of my PC, or even the built-in speaker, I change some basic settings in using Cakewalk's [P]references. Specifically, (1) I change the Driver Mode from ASIO to Windows Audio (shared) [aka WASAPI (shared)] and then (2) change my Audio > Device Output to whichever output I want to use. Normally, P is the shortcut for Preferences. From the Preferences panel, (1) Audio > Playback and Recording > Driver Mode lets users select/change the Driver Mode. (2) Audio > Devices > Output Drivers lets users choose which outputs Cakewalk uses. In addition the track control [O]utput widget lets users decide where to send the audio output from each audio track.1 point

Who knows what the deal was here. Perhpas an employee made it and Kia clamied the IP if it was developed on a company machine or partially during company hours. Lots of companies basically make you sign an agreement that says anything you develop is "ours" Just one of the first things I thought about when I saw the announcement, no idea if that is the situation here.1 point

I loved her, but she wasn't the easiest person to deal with. i will probably dance around that in future videos about DSS. She claims that Harvey Weinstein ruined her career... but one of her most memorable parts after her heyday was in PULP FICTION. I was very impressed with John Gielgud's memory about stuff that happened decades before. (I will do a video on him.) He said, "I remember everything up until the warrr... then it all becomes a blurrrrr." I think it's that way with all of us. I can remember all the lyrics to "Mr. Tambourine Man," but I forget what I had for breakfast. I think I have clarity about that. I'm doing it to do it. If climate change doesn't wipe out the world too soon, then maybe there will still be a YouTube twenty years after I'm gone who will listen to one of my stories and be amused by it--or it might even mean something to them. Doing these videos means my stories have the chance to live on after I do. And I've lived through times like New York City in the 70s that are kind of interesting. Making the music videos was torture. Cubase! Voicemeeter! OBS! Funky software! Arggh! Making these is a lot more fun. It's just me and the camera. Also, I have a thousand subs now, and am making progress on the 4000 hours. I'm now at 3100. So if I keep knocking these out, and invest a little time promoting them on social media, I'll get there. I don't know when, but I hope by sometime this summer. I didn't even want to be a YouTube partner in the old days, because I liked that you could just click on my videos and they would play. But now, YouTube puts ads there anyway. For me, it's the principle. Even if I only get five cents, I should get something. All my work shouldn't go to them.1 point

Hi Erik, Thanks for the response. I should have framed the question better. I have several harmonizers like Quadravox, etc. that don't appear to be affected by the ASIO buffer size or don't show any affect. I don't have any other VST or effects that are impacted like MHarmonizer. I get that it takes time to process and 2048 samples might just be too much of a "bite" to get done in time (to Will's point.) I initially expected the delay compensation to deal with that but it might be just too much. Waiting doesn't help, it's drowning in data. The number of instances don't seem to matter either. I can run one or four MHarmonizers and it's the same. I did go in and play with interpolation, sample accurate processing and a couple of others. Nothing seems to change anything until I changed the ASIO buffer size. It does report 46ms latency at 2048 samples (even when running at ASIO 128 samples.) That doesn't seem to be that horrible. And I run ASIO at 32 samples as long as I don't run ANYTHING else otherwise I have to drop back to 64 or 128 (at worst.) I haven't gotten a response from Melda but they are very good at responding. In the end, I know what to do to make it work but I was wondering if anyone knew something specific. A search on the internet hasn't found anything specific.1 point

I honestly can't say to be honest, but I doubt it'll make much difference if you're getting issues with a blank project just recording MIDI. Are these pure MIDI tracks, or MIDI tracks with a soft synth?1 point

yes, this genre of music (smooth jazz) is what an FM station here in Los Angeles called The Wave 94.7 would play from 1987 to 2010....you guys do your collaborations extremely well....and while this isn't the best material you guys have created it's very chill sounding and works as that type of music....cheers!!!! ????1 point

That is a great track, really enjoyed it. The harmony and rhythmic changes, instrument focus, etc.., are so very well executed, definitely not your cookie cutter smooth jazz tune. Huge thumbs up. Regards1 point

Killer track and groove - brilliantly executed as always. Would have loved one of those fast licks followed by a hard stop at the end but that's just a fave trick of mine (like Anita Baker's Fairy Tales where the jam session at the end is the stand out part of the track). Loved it Andy1 point

Your dad must be a hip dude, nothing like what I heard in the car LOL. Man who remembers Monkey Wards, love it. Very cool tune, I have always liked the sound of a sax and guitar together. I just ordered me a cheap sax to try and get back into it (we'll see) I played some back in the 90's.1 point

I’ve been where you are with other software. And just like you, I am heavily into video editing using AE, Premiere Pro, Vegas, etc and figured them all out on my own with the elf of some YT videos. But for some reason, I really wanted to move to Avid Media Composer a y years backs because everyone I knew in the business said that is what what’s used cutting most tv shows. I tried.i just couldn’t do it. So unintuitive. My posts sounded like yours, of course I usually wrote those posts at 1 am after striking out all night and ready to blow my house up to bits. I just decided not to use Avid. that said, stick with CW. I used it in the 99s when it was on a floppy disk. Luckily, it is free these days but is still the same stable software it always has been. There are many helpful people here. You just need to take a breath and rewrite your post. Give us exact step by step actions that you did. Take screen shots. Someone will help you through. I find it quite intuitive, unlike Avid Media Composer. Start a new empty project. Keep it simple. Insert a new audio track and just record your voice counting for 10 seconds. Insert an instrument track. Choose your vst instrument and record a few notes. If you are using real midi equipment, then you will need to insert a midi track so that it will play back your instrument. All you need is the above to start. Everything else that is more complex is built on the above. Good luck.1 point
-
Assuming you mean drawing MIDI notes in the PRV, if a new note starts more than a measure later than the end of the previous one, Cakewalk will start a new clip by default. It's not a bug; it's just how it works. My guess is it's a holdover from the early days when all MIDI notes were grouped by measures, and that was the finest resolution at which you could edit. In any case, you can just select the entire track and Bounce to Clips to combine them. Or you can slip-edit the end boundary of the clip out in the Track View in advance to encompass notes that will be further out. Or you can enter notes the old-fashioned way - in real time with a MIDI controller - and each take will be a contiguous clip, not matter how long you pause between notes. I started with Cakewalk for DOS 2.0 in 1988, so yes, I'm biased. I have spent some time getting to know Studio One, and dabbled a bit in Reaper. Both took several days to get even slightly comfortable with and I had to check the documentation constantly to get the most basic things done. This is the nature of DAWs. They are way too complex to be 'intuitive'. And they all have bugs, and features that are more or less 'polished' than the equivalent feature in some other DAW.1 point
