  6. I wanted something to do during the lockdown so I started looking at the Cakewalk control surface SDK. I own a Behringer X-Touch Compact and only meant to put a few tweaks in the Mackie Control plug-in specifically for it, but then mission creep took over in a big way and I ended up with something that’s more like a separate plug-in in its own right. I also wrote a program called XTCview, which is an enhanced version of BCFview (the program that went with the older BCF2000 control surface to emulate the Mackie Control’s display) because using a control surface without a display is pretty challenging once you get into plug-ins and all the various shift states. If anyone’s interested, I’ve attached an introduction and an almost-completed quick reference guide. I’m really happy with the way it’s turned out, but like most things it’s a question of balancing many different conflicting requirements so you may not be so happy with my choices. Let me know if you might have considered using it but for something that really annoys you because at this stage I might still be open to suggestions. And as you’ll see, there are still some open slots in the M1/M2 shift matrix on page 2 of the guide so I’m taking requests for those too. I’ve tested with Cakewalk by BandLab on Windows 7/64 and 10/64 and Sonar Platinum on Windows 7/64. I have also built 32-bit versions but have not been able to test them on a 32-bit OS. I will open-source it eventually, but for now if anyone wants the plug-in with XTCview and/or the source code then just ask and I’ll gladly send it to you once I’ve finished up a few final things and I’m completely satisfied with the way it’s working (probably a week or so). I’m also planning on doing a complete revision of the help file but that will have to come later. About me: I’m a retired software professional with 35 years of experience in C/C++, although I did spend the later years of my career working more with C# so my C/Win32 is a bit rusty and that probably shows in my code. 7. I have the entire toolbox and love it but Phase Plant should be under $50 for people like me. Or under $30. Or under $20. Yeah, under $20.

  8. New in Melodyne 5 New technologies, for better results in less time. Thanks to the fundamentally improved “Melodic” algorithm, Melodyne makes your vocal editing even better than before. With perfect, natural corrections at the press of a key. Thanks to the Chord Track, you can adapt notes with lightning speed to suit the song – chord recognition included. And with the unique Fade Tool, you can create note-based fades – even in polyphonic recordings and samples. All this is new: the ability to edit pitched and noise-like components separately with the “Melodic” algorithm a more musical analysis of pitch deviations the Chord Track and Chord Grid for pitch editing, chord recognition the Fade Tool and Leveling Macro for editing dynamics an additional algorithm (“Percussive Pitched”) plus other algorithm improvements search functions for keyboard shortcuts, saving of shortcut sets The update costs 49 €/US$ for Melodyne assistant, 99 €/US$ for Melodyne editor and 149 €/US$ for Melodyne studio. For Melodyne essential and users who registered Melodyne after 1 March 2020, it is free of charge.

  9. Larry has many aliases and depending on each situation, they simply manifest themselves. (Just FYI, there's a huge difference between, shredder and undershredder). ?

  10. I think he's a "double naught spy". That's why his real identity comes out, once in a while. ( if I was Kenny, the Tele playin jazz artist or "Mesh The Shredder", I would put Lars's head on a shirtless Putin) Just to illustrate one of the possible true identities of "the artist formerly known as Larry Shelby".

  11. I really like Rigid Audio stuff. The instruments are usually fun to play with; some more inspired than others. I always ignore the high list price. But definitely worth it at this price. I have all of his stuff. Don't think I have paid much more than $6 for any one instrument. I know some people have been burned in the past when he was doing high priced preorders and then selling at bargain basement prices a couple of months after release. But he is not doing that now and even offering a 14 day money back guarentee if not satisfied. Hard to lose much at this price.

  14. Canopus Maybe more of a sound track for a spacey video. This has kind of a Klaus Schulze vibe to it I think. I used Z3TA2 and Fab Filter Volcano and I modified Omnisphere patch Hypnotic Filter Tapper for the nice filter sweep effects. Also Diva, Zebra and Synthmaster. Thanks for listening/commenting. EDIT : I'm thinking of pulling this one. It sounded pretty good at midnight but then it turned into crap overnight IMO. EDIT again: it's okay.

  17. Watch the v5 intro and tutorial videos. Very helpful. The single biggest new feature for me (so far) is the sibilance management, making Melodyne the best de-esser going.

  32. Aw, Steve, you ought to know that I myself don't care for being peddled a workaround when a bug fix or feature request is in order. I was only trying to offer a little tip for people who need to get this to work in the meantime and want to do it by renaming their files. I'm keeping in mind that these threads are read by many people other than those of us who actively participate. I understand the point of Robert's thread: CbB should readily open/handle MIDI files with the .midi extension. Until it does, there are multiple workarounds. The simplest, IMO, is renaming the .midi files to .mid. This is a way to do it in bulk.

  34. Yes No, CbB cannot read musicXML. Tools that create musicXML usually can create regular MIDI files too.

  35. Have a look at this about installing VSTs. Here is a list of beginner tutorials. Play around with Cakewalk's built in instruments (SI drums, piano, strings, bass) to get an idea before you look for VSTs to download and install. That being said, this is a list of free effects and this is a list of free instruments. Good luck.

  36. Thanks for sharing a glimpse of what's happening with you and a little brief history besides. Best to you on the new endeavor. Are you better off now than you were 10 years ago? The same? Worse? I can relate. I don't know exactly how I ended up where I ended up or why. I tried to be somewhere else. I never pictured this as being "it". I guess this is it. I was looking for an opportunity and a way to make it. Not make it big, just make it and get by comfortably. I managed to do it in a very uncommon way. It isn't a career in music but I am able to play and I guess that's enough for me. As a good friend of mine once said, I'm not hot, I'm not cold, I'm not hungry, I'm healthy. I'm ok.
