  4. Hereby even before end of 2019, inspired by good question from TheSteven, I decided hereby to award a well-deserved reward as below REASON: tired to be requested to login again and again with every new instance (who is using just 1 track for guitars?) just picking different amp plugin... Support ticket raised long ago ignored and technician seemed even not checking what I reported with every steps described and mentioned about the same problem on different comps with different OSes. I was suggested reinstall, what I did to proved the point but well.. Without any desire to confirm what is reported technician never will notice a problem...

  7. I've come accross a fair few people who are saying that CbB doesn't have official integration with Native Instruments, so lets get the process rolling and underway! Studio One Users got their way recently with an update, so why can't we? Lets do it! "Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want So tell me what you want, what you really, really want I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want So tell me what you want, what you really, really want I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna NKS SUPPORT please.... zigazig ah!

  12. Always appreciate your input Matthew and I'm in the same mindset regarding Signal. I only have the free version of Signal and also have Movement, but the features/instruments in Signal are aligned with what I want to do. Yet, it's tempting to get Exhale as well.....oh this GAS of mine.

  13. Signal and REV are the most generally useful of all their stuff for me. I never really got on with Exhale, though to be honest it may have been because it came with the bundle (I upgraded to it from Signal and REV). Getting a huge pile of complex things like that all at once almost always means they don't get the time and attention they need. I had Signal for a long time before I got REV which I also had for a long time. Then I jumped to the bundle, which may have been a mistake. Still if I could only pick one though I'd pick Signal, no question.

  14. Judge all you like brother we all do it amirite. Not to make this thread about me, but just to respond real quick. There's my soundcloud that I've been resurrecting after some years of down time. The demos currently on there are older and before I started taking mixing seriously. I took a long hiatus from music and just got back into it about a year ago when I started posting on the old forum and found Cakewalk was dead. That's when I started taking mixing seriously, but I've always been a guitar geek and tone chaser who cares about things like scale length and signal splitting to two amps sans tone loss etc. But I had always shunned amp sims w/o even trying them; I just assumed there could be no way they'd be worth while for serious recording. Then I moved to this new place and realized I can't mic my amp here so I started thinking and researching and opening my mind and ended up down the sims and IR rabbit hole. I have different goals now than I did then as I consider YouTube and composing for TV/film rather than a band right now. There's a couple of recent riffs I uploaded there to test some guitar sim tones you could hear and I'm still dialing those. Today I built three dual bass amp rigs around the Brainworx Ampeg VR which I made into templates. I'm doom metal/synthwave guitar/bass/synth player but I'll write in various styles. Right now I'm getting a pretty dope doom tone w/ a dual amp rig consisting of a cranked Nembrini Marshall for one amp and a hardware Big Muff run through a PSA-1 which is then run through an OwnHammer IR for the second amp and I blend those together and that's the Grimy Doom Riff on there I was testing. I think of it as an Alice In Chains type of metal tone blended w/ a Siamese Dream era muff tone to get a metal muff tone that I play w/ a Warmoth baritone strat tuned to A# standard. I'm wearing too many dang hats right now and there's just so much to do and I'm playing serious catch up lately. I'm projecting my newest song to be uploaded by the end of the year if I can stop messing w/ sounds to get to actual work lol. Post your soundcloud too man. I'm always checking people's stuff out.

  22. It's all my fault. I used to buy most of those titles on a regular basis. Then they closed the nearest Barnes & Noble, making it less convenient. Couldn't be bothered to drive the extra distance. I accept culpability for my part in the demise of music magazines. OTOH, maybe it's your fault. You said it was a "time-filler'. Does that mean you were one of those people who read the mags but didn't buy them? Left the racks in disarray? Mixed up the drum mags with the keyboard mags? Or worse, stuffed the music production mags behind Cream and Rolling Stone?

  24. The intro reminded me of Seven Bridges Road (mixed with a little Jon Anderson), well done indeed. I'm going to get myself in a bit of trouble here but the "grid" is both our friend and our enemy. That persistent "one" keeps coming round and we feel it necessary to be right on the beat. Building tempo maps is a lot of work, but its one of the most important tools we have. For me its got to "breathe". I know that most modern music is laid down to a click track, but the A list studio cats are dancing around that click. What I'm trying to say is your tune is just a bit "stiff". If I'm producing, we've got to put a bit more "feel" into it, that takes it to the next level. Fine tune overall, maybe I'm criticizing my own work rather than yours, I don't know; just me... Tom

  27. These markers wouldn’t be for tracks. They would be color-coded horizontal markers, arranged below the timeline, that would indicate, for example, intro, verse, bridge, chorus, verse, etc.

  30. ^^^^ AudioSnap will make you want to tear your hair out, and is overkill for a single track. SM/BAN is the only sure-fire way to tempo map a single track (Melodyne will fall on its sword in the absence of transient material fairly frequently - although I have not tested this with the most recent updates).

  31. If you reinstalled on a new machine then you will need a new activation file from the website. The serial number is not part of the activation process. The activation request is a file generated by the program which you need to use to get a new activation file from the Cakewalk server. Last time I checked this still worked. If you install Cakewalk Command Center on the new machine you can use that to install Z3TA+2 and it should automatically do the activation as part of the installation. https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013384/Offline-Activation

  32. Well said Andrew! Of course there is the other scenario where NKS users or potential users will be looking at other DAW's which offer this integration (I know that I am, myself) . I think it is in CbB's interest to offer this integration in order to GROW THEIR CUSTOMER BASE. I think this would be an extremely positive move for CbB

  33. Getting anything iZotope usually feels like Xmas morning to me, but Nectar Elements is disappointing compared to the other Elements products. Usually the Elements suites amount to subsets of the Standard suites, otherwise they work just the same. A suite of top-notch processors, sometimes with a wizard and a bunch of really good presets. You can let the wizard do its thing or call up a preset, then go in and tune the individual processors, or just jump in and work the controls from scratch. Not so with Nectar Elements. In order to get it to do anything, you have to run the wizard, then you are presented with a set of single slider controls for each of the processors, to control the "amount" of processing. There's no way to get at the modules' individual settings. (I snagged Accusonus' ERA 4 Voice Leveler to get it)

  38. Hi, Dare - just wanted to mention (meant to do it that night of your posts, but forgot) - I happen to be one of the forum moderators, and I deliberately chose not to scold you, or banish you, or any of that - because you did engage with me - following your initial venting of frustration. We ALL can get frustrated when we get bogged down in problems that impact us working on the things we INTENDED to work on, when those problems force us to instead go through some number of hoops in dealing with resolving the unforeseen issues. SO, I did not negatively react to your initial post - other than to encourage you to engage and work with me - and others in the forum, to try to help you resolve whatever issues were causing your frustration. And, while it is unfortunate that you have, at least for the moment, seemingly gone off to search for some other DAW software suite - I DO hope you return to give Cakewalk another shot - and perhaps also be a bit more willing to work with me, and the other folks in the forum, to get any issues worked out. Take care - have a great day, and upcoming weekend, and may both be filled with the sounds of whatever music projects you are working on. Bob Bone

  39. Yeah I hate too many options. No time to get really good with any particular plugin because you feel obligated to get your money's worth and use everything you keep buying. In my plugin buying life I've made only a couple of what I consider bad purchases, one of which I was able to flip quickly and the other I got stuck with permanently and just wrote off as a loss. And as a guitar player, back in the day I didn't have 20 amps and I didn't know anyone who had more than two... you had your one amp you chose wisely and spent good money on and your pedals/rack effects and you got all your sounds from that one setup. This limitation made you get real good at squeezing the best out of this setup and I still follow that ethos today. I've got like four amp sims I care about: Nembrini Marshall, Vermilion, Brainworx Ampeg VR, and I thought there was something else but I can't remember now.. probably because I don't care about it.

  41. I've ony listened briefly on crummy laptop speakers, but I'm guessing this suggestion would apply broadly; Bring up the level of the instrument(s) defining the harmonic structure. The chord changes are cool but not as audible as they should be everywhere. I think this is partly what makes it sound 'Asian' - the melody is too dominant. A switch to - or addition of - a lead instrument with more sustain on the choruses could also help that. Nice work otherwise. I like it.

  43. Hi @Dare Rihter! I just checked, and it looks like you've sent in 3 inquiries to Cakewalk's support staff, which were all after the latest build. If we find something reproducible and broken, our goal is to fix it, but we do have a roughly scheduled release timetable (which you may have already noticed). At present, we see releases every other month, and even started an Early Access program for users to check out builds prior to the official release. You may find it helpful to keep an eye out for those, and use the Early Access threads to point out any potential issues that still occur. Considering all of your requests were in a single cycle, I'm confident our team will continue working to resolve any issues you may be experiencing. Feel free to PM me if you have any concerns, or as stated in comments above, you can always start a thread here in the forum- just be sure to include the steps you've taken, the expected result, and the result you're experiencing. The users here are generally of quite a high caliber, and may be able to assist you even faster than our in-house staff. Use the forum to your advantage- we're all here to help!

  44. Your skepticism is warranted. On the other hand, for a young person who has never bothered to learn to play an instrument by ear, let alone master even the basics of music as an art or study, it is a magical machine that can be used to convince such a person that he is a composer. Having spent seven decades listening to various iterations of popular music, I am increasingly convinced that much of what we are hearing these days is probably being composed on such machines--or using the features of those machines that have been adopted into "serious" DAW's like Cakewalk. For significant linear composing or mixing it is not a serious contender but at $20.00 it would be a suitable stocking-stuffer for the young person in your life who has had to come to grips with the fact that being a guitar hero takes years of effort and is showing itself to be a much less effective strategy for at getting anyone laid, as it is increasingly being replaced by DJ'ing, or joining a crew of a dozen guys roaming around a stage empty-handed to a recorded soundtrack. Undoubtedly it will not improve his ***** [can we say copulation?] life to be able to upload his repetitive if not inane work product to YouTube as an accompaniment to films of himself wearing a massively overpriced pair of Beats by Dre and smoking an unidentified substance, but so long as the cans have closed backs what can be the harm?

  45. That's because that is the global audio folder. If you save projects with per project audio which has been the preferred mode for over 10 years this you wouldn't run into this. It then searches only the project audio folder.
