Is there any way to set a key shortcut to jump back 5 or 10 secomds?

Im using CbB. Everytime I make an edit, I often just want to jump back a few seconds and hit play. However, the only way I know to do this is to scroll back which takes extra time and movements or to hit my shortcut key to the previous marker which of course is usually in a spot that's too far away or too close. Is there any way to set a keyboard shortcut that can take me back a few seconds?  The constant scrolling is so annoying. Thanks

Have you tried "On Stop Rewind to Now Marker" (default is CTRL-W), also in Track View Options near the bottom? That sets an anchor for where the play head will begin (regardless of where you are editing).

Also, if you are zoomed in to edit (with the Now Marker off screen), setting an initial zoom with Z, then using ALT-Z (to restore previous view) and ALT-SHIFT-Z (to restore zoom view) helps with bebopping back and forth in a more manageable way than scrolling.

Quick Edit: I just noticed that after that initial zoom with Z-drag, I need to re-enable the Smart Tool to actually edit. Not sure if that is still the same or not.

The only key shortcuts I know (and use all the time) for jumping around in small incremetns are

Ctrl+PageUp moves nowtime back to the previous measure start. 

Ctrl+PageDown moves nowtime ahead to the next measure start. 

Without doing anything to the default keybindings, it works great if you have a full keyboard, but if you have a limited keyboard with no cursorpad and the ins/home/pu/del/end/pd keys as a set between the numpad and hte main keyboard, you have to use the numpad keys for this (or edit the keybindings to use some other keys).  

However, if you have to use the numpad, it only works with numlock *off* on the numpad (nudge requires numlock on).

Hi,

just as Amberwolf said... why not 1,2,3 or 4 measures back? 

In Cakewalk by BandLab (formerly Sonar), the keyboard shortcut to move the playhead back one measure is Ctrl+PgUp. To move forward one measure, you can use Ctrl+PgDn. You can also use the left and right cursor keys to move by measure.

Keep in mind it doesn't *just* move one meausre. The first keystroke moves *to* the next or previous measure, and *then* it moves by a measure after that, to the next or previous measure boundary. 

If you need it to move *by* a measure...it doesn't do that. 

 

Just in case it makes a difference to what you want it to do.

Fun Fact:  You can use arrow keys or Markers Module buttons to navigate between markers and Arranger sections even if no markers are present.

Are you open to using a CAL script doing this.

     (Play)
)

This will move NOW back 1 beat and then play.

You could even assign this to a keybinding.

If you want to move back two beats, then replace TIMEBASE with (* TIMEBASE 2)

Usually i need to play the edited section more than one time.

That's why i do a selection and set loop points to it. It's quick, make a selection, push the button and play/edit.

In trying to find a way to do this, I discovered that if I select a track, drag across the timeline where what I want to hear is located, that creates a loop. Hitting the V key plays that loop continuously. Hitting the V key again while the loop is playing turns it off.
You can choose 1 track or select many different tracks and it will play them.

For me, dragging the time ruler creates a "selection" and hitting V opens the Video pane.

Once a clip or section is selected, Shift+L sets it to loop.  L turns Loop on/off.  Spacebar for play/stop.

You're right. Somewhere in my search and my ignorance I bound V to audition. Having discovered that, I undid it, but it seems like such a useful thing that I bound it to O, an unused shortcut key. Now the V brings up the Video view as normal.

What does your version use for Offset Mode?

Offset Mode was unbound from O quite a while back.

Too many users were enabling it accidentally.

I forget when O got unbound now (was years ago), but it had caused so much grief over the years that it was unbound by default. Jonesey just replied as I was typing that.

Cheers Jonesey. Yeah, I use offset mode a lot but I would never want it bound to a shortcut key. The only thing worse would be having a key binding for ripple edit. 😄

I vaguely remember the discussions about O and how it tripped up a few folks and was removed, as noted above. I don't think a mistaken press of the O would affect anything now for me since more actions are required to get Audition to work, like selecting tracks and dragging the timeline.

I set key bindings for back one measure ( < )  and forward one measure (>)  and I set previous marker  as  ( , ) and next marker  as  ( . ) These 2 keys plus shift gets around very fast. They're both close to the shift key on the right side of the keyboard.
