How Will We Be Informed?

Simple question.  No need to start a major war by any ignorant people.  Forgive me that I just gleaned through the now closed 35 + page thread about the upcoming new products so I may have missed it, but how will we be informed when Cakewalk Next and Cakewalk Sonar will become available?  Will it be through the Bandlab Assistant, or an email or some other way?

Again, simple question.  Would greatly appreciate a simple answer. I don't mean to sound so blunt, but lately on this forum some questions are met with such caustic ignorance by a small handful of people here (claiming to be "helpful").  Frankly, it's gotten to the point where I'm almost afraid to ask anything.

Thanks

Sorry if you misinterpreted my post(s) as caustic and you think of me as ignorant.  (Not really an apology; saying "sorry" in an insincere statement is something I have seen other people do. Never liked that, but now I see that sometimes such a response is appropriate).

I take offence at your use of name-calling / insults.

Your phraseology belies any claims about your asking a "simple question" and not wanting to stir up "a major war."

The crappy thing about forums is that sometimes the written word comes across in entirely the wrong way, not to mention language barriers too. I know I've definitely been caught up in the "you said WHAT about me?!" loop and then had a phone call with the person later and it was like "oh no, sorry, I didn't mean it like that at all!" and I'll admit I've been on both sides of that too over the years.

How's about we start with a clean slate on this thread and put it all down to a misunderstanding? :)

EDIT: For the record, I don't think anyone should feel like they shouldn't ask a question about anything on the forum. I think we all get a little fatigued by some of the same questions sometimes, though, which isn't really the fault of the question asker. Perhaps there needs to be a couple of threads that we can just refer to as links to save any misunderstood tone in replies?

That's a good question!

No insider knowledge on this at all, but I'd say that we'll get the same post in the Product Release Info thread and likely a sticky post too.  Since Next is opening up to beta testing, it wouldn't surprise me if there was some kind of Early Access thing for it (and Sonar?) as well.

The Toast Messages in CbB could also be a good way to let users who aren't on here know there's a new product line as well, of course.

Bandlab Assistant is kind of deprecated at this point, so I'm not sure if we'd see anything through that - it's all preferentially handled in-app in CbB now.

@User 905133 thanks for re-posting the question in a polite format.
@Lord TimThat’s what I figured. Not sure what the rules are for people beta testing. Are they expected to keep silent or are  the testers allowed to make open comments in the early access forum?
I signed up for Next but haven’t gotten any mail yet. Are people testing already?

Who said anything about you?  I wasn't talking about you.  I had nothing against you until now. You're not the one I was complaining about. How did you come to that conclusion?

It doesn't matter to me anymore.  I've just decided that I've had enough of Cakewalk.  The product is fine but there are just too many people on this forum that I've gotten tired of over the years.  Byron Dickens gets away with making trouble on almost every forum he posts on and seems to get away with it.  I'm just reacting to mainly his type of hostility.  In 2019 I posted a question that a (now) moderator misunderstood and raked me over the coals over it.  The product' great and so are the creators but I  can't stand this forum anymore.  I'll be buying FL Studio.

I've beta tested a few things over the years for different companies and there's strict NDA agreements that you have to sign to be added to the team, which makes a lot of sense. A lot of the time companies even discourage you from mentioning you're even testing just so you don't let anything slip accidentally.

I'm not sure what the Bakers have planned for Next - I'm sure there's an internal testing team already for the existing products so far (as is mentioned in a few of the Early Access threads) but this sounds like it'll be something else - I could be wrong about that, of course. From what I'm seeing around the forum, I don't think anyone has been contacted yet about this stuff, so it's all kind of conjecture and guesses on my part at this point, but I'd say it will come down to what ever is in the user's agreement.

This is your call, of course, but it would be a shame to ditch a product that you like because you don't like a couple of people on a forum. You have a whole learning curve ahead of you for a different product and no guarantee there won't be a bunch of jerks there too.

Listen, I'm still a n00b mod here so I'm sure other senior mods and admins will have more to say about this than me, but I personally think it's a shame that anyone would get run off the forum because of harassment, and I'd encourage you to report anyone giving you a hard time. There's kind of a warning system set up for people who don't play by the rules constantly.

As I said, I really don't enjoy being hostle to anybody, but apparently not all of us feel that way.  I was merely trying to protect myself from a response like "This was addressed in the thread.  Can't you read?" by a certain troublemaker. If we wouldn't have such rude people on this forum we could all get along better. But, sadly the moderators seem to allow it. With the exception of the aforementioned Mr. D, I apologize to anyone I've offended here.

?John B

Edit: Still considering Cakewalk.  I just wish I could feel free to ask a question without feeling like I have to proactively protect myself from the rude responses from certain kinds of "helpful" people.

Ohhhhhhh.  Now I remember that thread.  I thought that had been resolved.  I guess I was wrong.

I stand by my belief that all of that baggage did not need to be brought up in asking the question here.

Peace.

Am I wrong to just believe that the bakers will simply post on this forum when it is available and give us all the details on how to install it? I just don't need to worry anymore than read this forum like I always do and I am confident I will be informed.

Noel and others have always communicated effectively through this forum when new stuff is available.

I wish I could feel that is wasn't either. AsI said, I was protecting myself.  See how much trouble one rude person can cause? And no, that 2019 issue wasn't resolved because John never apologized to me like a man would.  If he would care to apologize to me for misunderstanding my question that day I could be quite forgiving.  I would be glad to give the link as the thread is still there.

I say let's move on :)  Sometimes a PM to a user can do wonders for clearing the air.  There's actually been some good to come out of this thread with a good discussion about releases, betas, etc. so rather than let it get into the dirt and get locked, let's focus on the great question in the first post.
