craigb Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Yep... Just popped in here to post about this. ? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/11/arts/music/jeff-beck-dead.html
Jeremy Oakes Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Had the pleasure of seeing him play in 2014. The best. R.I.P J
Jesse Screed Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 next man up to be the next man down thankfully I have his greatest hits compilation 3 cd set, and the live at Ronnie Scott's and all the stuff on streaming services.
Pragi Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 I can't believe that because he played several concerts last summer and at the age of 78 he has played great concerts. It's not just his technical fitness at that age that I think is unmatched. Rest in peace, JB.
aidan o driscoll Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) THIS is Jeff Beck for me. Never muscling in there to cram zillions of notes into a track. Just tastefully playing to fit the track In 1992 he appeared on an excellent concept album by ROGER WATERS ( ex Pink Floyd ) called AMUSED TO DEATH ( Recording started in 1987 ). So sit back and listen to his guitar on the BALLAD OF BILL HUBBARD. You may cry .. about WW1. It sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to it I will admit a tear in my eye listening to this .. Edited January 12, 2023 by aidan o driscoll 2
DeeringAmps Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Beck was playing blues when Clapton was wanking on “For Your Love” (my interpretation of Clapton’s own words). Jeff was “channeling” Hendrix (Shapes & I’m a Man) while Jimi was Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. Simply the greatest guitarist of all time. t @batsbrew you might add “Jeff Beck” to the title. 1
57Gregy Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Wow. Another one gone. Saw him ~1981 in Santa Barbara. Great show.

Leadfoot Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 RIP Mr. Beck. He was just on another level that none of us could attain. Always breaking new ground, always evolving, all the way to the end.
craigb Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Can't help but be reminded of this little band that had a few OK guitarists in it... ? 1
