New vs Old Smart tool

I'm just hoping maybe some one will tell me what the new one can do that the old one couldn't do?

There's no change - it's just a different icon.

There's a drop down menu under the new one showing items that can be selected and de-selected
that isn't on the old one.

This seems to imply more functionality or the option to limit functionality, but why
and what are some examples of use with some things not checked?

What would I select some items in the drop down and not others to accomplish different tasks?

The first image appears to be CbB/SONAR prior to 2019.07

The second image shows 2019.07 or newer http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=NewFeatures.076.html

@Steve_Karl, thanks for asking a great question.  Very helpful answers from both @msmcleod and @scook.  The documentation link is very informative.  I didn't know the Smart Tool can be customized.
