VST's are functional, but I cannot access their properties

Hi all,

When I double-click on a VST in either Rack View or Track View, the synth does not open.  I think I must have clicked an Automation or MIDI Learn mode, because when I single click, the item becomes highlighted in yellow with 4 corner brackets around it. 

 

Any ideas?  I'm tearing my hear out.  MIDI and Audio plugins are behaving the same way.

I'm really hoping to figure this out - I am at a standstill right now.  I know it's something obvious but I'm going crazy...

So you can not open the synth UI from either the synth rack or the track header icon?
Same result of all projects? or only that project? or only that track?

Yes, that's how it WAS working, but now when I double click on the synth nothing happens at all (except the flyout menu in my first pic).  It is the same in tracks in all projects.  Again, they are WORKING - and I can even automate parameters - I just can't open the F$#7ing synth...

I have Cakewalk installed on another computer and just confirmed the behaviour as you describe - no problems.  Also, I see the hightlighted yellow with corner brackets, so that was a red herring. 

On the problem machine, I did toggle "Recycle VST Windows" off and on, but trying both ways doesn't help....  Thanks, you guys, for your help.

**SOLVED***

WHEW!  I went into Windows Display Settings and toggled the screen resolution down and back and waddya know - all back to normal!  No idea what caused the problem, but I'm back up & jamming.

Thanks so much for posting your solution. I had the exact same behaviour and none of the searched help solutions worked.  @Declan Halpin worked like gold. Well done sir! Saved me much frustration.
