Marker Track? There's that fiddly little workaround I linked to here, and kudos to the dude who came up w/ it .. but it's a pita really. The way it is now and has always been: tiny gray flags w/ tiny unreadable gray text that will actually superimpose over other markers' text if the markers are close to each other.. is anyone really even remotely satisfied w/ that? May not be the most important feature request ever but it is one that's been getting requested for yeeeerz, many. This pro daw needs a proper marker track.. anything would be an improvement over the current deal.

Recommend me a great *dry* noir-ish strings library?
Christian Jones replied to Christian Jones's topic in Deals
Thanks John, will do. For anyone curious here's GForce's response re an M-Tron demo: "Hi Christian, I'm afraid that there is no user demo of M-Tron Pro, so the Try It button goes to the audio demos page. I honestly don't know why that desicion was made, but the site is under redevelopment at the moment to clean this sort of thing up, so hopefully that'll become clearer. There are currently no offers running on M-Tron Pro." -

I don't believe the "try it" button there is functional https://www.gforcesoftware.com/products/m-tron-pro/demos -

Here's a cool use of that mellotron violins sound, this one's pretty grimy. -

Rad thanks, I have a bunch of free and a couple paid Mellotron vst but I haven't heard of that one and these I do collect so thanks. Actually, I'm chasing a "violins" sound that none of what I have currently replicate. I've got Wavesfactory, Hollows Son and some others, but the particular sound I'm after.. it's the "Mellotron Violins" patch in the Kontakt Factory Library. Quality-wise that patch isn't the greatest quality, but it's got that sound I'm after; that old record noir small violin ensemble sound. I'm looking for something that sounds just like it but better quality so I've been looking at M-Tron. Btw, I found this one too for Reaktor 5 if anyone else wanted it https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/6129/ -

Eh, I'll probably just quit screwing around and get M-Tron Pro since mellotron is all I really care about anyway. -
I'm looking to maybe score a deal on a high(er) end strings library that doesn't have much if any reverb on them already. So probably no cinematic stuff. I'm looking for some violin et al ensembles that I can run through some saturationn etc to create my own Melotron type strings, really something w/ that old noir strings vibe is what I'm after w/ individual note articulations, not just chords like a lot of the Sonikinetic stuff does. I was looking at this Spitfire library https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/spitfire-studio-strings/ but I'm reading some feedback where some are saying that while they sound great, the recording level is too low and the power's just not there so idk. I'm researching but there's too much out there
-
Are Sonikinetic the only guys doing the noir angle? Anyone else worth looiknig into?
-
I got it almost instantly a couple days ago. What I'm wondering now is if I can acquire another one real quick so I can flip it as soon as it becomes a paid plug ?
-
I look at it this way ---> Often I shop to improve my mood.

Dang. But thanks for trying that out for me man. Idk, I do write doom rock/metal where I incorporate beauty and grime, so maybe I'll just try to embrace the noise. It's just that some of the notes in the Kontakt "Melotron Violins" (you're right; that's what it's called) are cleaner than others, and a precious few have some serious grime and when you hit those particular notes they tend to stand out. I suppose a work around especially when it's time to bounce the MIDI could be to use a second instance of the Melotron Violins just for the notes that are noisy (on my particular case it's just one note) and drop the tuning however many steps so that I can use one of the not-as-noisy notes instead and just drop it's pitch a step or whatever to the pitch of the desired note.

So I'm away for Christmas and can't demo anything now, but thought I'd maybe do a shot in the dark on this Waves BOGO offer and make one or both the Waves noise clean-up apps. In Komplete 10 Kontakt has in its factory library a really cool Melotron and I especially love the Melotron strings there.. but some of the notes in the "Melotron Strings" patch have some excessive noise, like hissy/crackly noise and I know some of that is par for the course and that's cool, but as not all of the notes have that issue I'd like to see about cleaning those particular notes that do up a bit. I'm looking at these below.. Anyone know which might be best for this? http://everyplugin.com/z-noise.html http://everyplugin.com/x-noise.html http://everyplugin.com/x-crackle.html

Don't know for sure but I feel like it will be available until 01/20. They otherwise don't specify, but it's still running now so I bet it will last till end of year. Probably.

To get the worthwhile free gift stuff in one place.. So far I know of: Arturia Plate-140 (reverb) - https://www.arturia.com/reverb-gift NI RAUM (reverb) - https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/your-free-holiday-gifts/?sscid=c1k3_ix767 Celestial (not 100% sure what this thing even is but apparently I've got to have) - https://www.acustica-audio.com/pages/specials/celestial What have I missed? Quickly.. I've got projects pending on these plugs, whatever they are

Word, this sound isn't hard to come by if you have some cool vintage synth vsts. If you have Kontakt full I'd check out Synth Magic as that type of sound is all over his synths. Just listening to the demos of the various SM synths and I bet you'll hear that sound or close to it and mod wheel should get you the rest way.
