[SOLVED] Start Screen not functioning correctly
Syphus replied to Syphus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I don't have a mouse connected at this time due to USB port limits (as in not enough - LOL) . So I use the mouse pad on my laptop. But to answer your question, I can see (barely) the actual scroll bar handle - but it only moves a fraction of the window (like 1/16th of an inch - or a few millimeters) and what I can see (tops of next template) are not clickable . . . Syphus -
Additional info (an realization) the scroll bar is "black" and is the length of the window. If you look closely, you can see the top and bottom of the bar: (on my system) the bar is black, the background is grey. I can move it just barely and see the window move just a hair . . . I wonder if something to do with my graphics card??? just a thought. Syphus

Hello everyone, I came across what I believe to be a bug. I'm reaching out to see effects everyone and not just me. Here is the problem: When in the "Start Screen", selecting the "Recent Projects" or "New Project" tab, you are presented with a list of projects or templates. Right now I'm just going to talk about the "New Project" tab. If you have more that 8 templates (and up to 16), the window is supposed to allow you to scroll down the window to select the templates that do not fit in the window of the "Start Screen". This is the way it is supposed to work. On my CW (cakewalk), what happens once I have more that 8 templates is that I can see the top of the icon for number 9, but I can not get to it. It appears that there is a "scroll strip" to the right of the window, but no handle to grab to move the window list up or down. [ and the up & down arrows or pg up/dwn have no effect ] I'm using a different theme from the normal included ones - so I set my CW back to Tungsten and this made no difference. Still did not works correctly. Now I am in contact with support about this right now, but I want to find out if this is a general problem with the software or if it is only me having the problem. Thanks to all that respond, Syphus

Update: I contacted Support about my observation of the "Start Screen" whereas the screen only allows me to access 8 start templates. Below is the answer that I got from Support: This did not ring true with what I experienced at the time I was looking (at the Start Screen) for this thread. I plan on revisiting this later today to see if I perhaps am not doing this right (I do not use a mouse - I use the mouse pad for my lap top). It did appear that the dialog box (start screen) did try to render a scroll bar - it just failed to provide a functional scroll for me . For completeness, I'm adding this comment and will update this thread once I see my results . . . Syphus

Quick note, Go to this link and read the info. It talks about midi echo. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=4&help=Playback.35.html I do not think the "Echo" button is the same as audio echo . . . it is called "MIDI echo" on that track and the document link talks about that. I myself, have observed that in some cases I can not turn that button off on my midi instrument track, but I never paid much attention to it . . . As for the drums playing at the same time as the keyboards, this seems to be a "omni channel" thing (as in all channels receiving midi data at the same time). Setting the correct midi channels in your instruments would avoid that. I can not advise any more that that as I have minimal midi experience (or I have been lucky) and have not run into that problem. Hopefully that helps. Perhaps someone out there can give better direction as to what OP is experiencing. Syphus

Don't think this will export a list, but may be useful: You could send @scook and note and see if his toll does that. Syphus

No Problem - glad it was not a bug of some sort - don't forget to mark the "best answer" for others to find . . . Later Syphus

Hi there again . . . OK - Good news/Bad news (LOL) Good: I found the list Bad: The list for the most recent files is located in the registry So depending as to how comfortable you are with your operation system will determine if you want to look and see what is there. It is the only thing I can think of looking at it to find out if you have only "5" projects listed. Or just do what I suggested previously (open other files). If you want to venture in to the registry for a look, let me know and I will tell you how to do it. I would try the opening other files first (if you don't like messing with your registry. Otherwise I have no other suggestions at this time Syphus

Got it - Sorry, I was looking from the template point of view (since my previous "Start Screen" question had to do with that . . . Now I'm curious myself. I will take a look and if I see anything related to that, I will comment. Off the top of my head, the "most recent" has to be stored somewhere (INI file or such). It could be that this has gotten changed for some reason. Try opening some other projects from the "File>Open" dialog (not any of the ones already showing up) and see if the start screen, recent projects gets populated. Just a suggestion . . . Syphus

OK- I looked at my system and this is what I see: Using the start up screen, clicking on the "New Project" TAB, I see 8 templates. Two of which I created. They are located @ "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Project Templates" (for CW by BL) I then added (actually copied and renamed) the "Basic" template three times (in the above directory) Result: The three newly created templates showed up in the "Start Screen > New Project". What also happened was that three other templates were pushed down in the screen (since the new one were higher in the listing due to spelling). What I could not do, was access the three "pushed down" templates because they were for all practical purposes off the viewing screen. My conclusion is that there is a glitch (or bug or not programed for . . . ) where any number of project temples higher than the count of 8 can not be accessed with the start screen. and what is accessible has to be named such that it is part of the top tier 8 files. Now it appears that there is a space for a "scroll bar", but it not there (and not functional). ************************************ Now your problem (limit of five) may be that your templates are not in the correct place - go check the "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Project Templates" folder The other issues above (by me) - may have to be verified that they are expected behavior or a bug to fixed. I will contact support and see what they say. I would think is a "no brainer" type fix. The other thing in mind is, "How many templates do you need for your work flow"? I would like it to work the way I would expect it to. You can still fire up any template you want by the "File> Open" dialog. Syphus

I am not sure of the number (of templates) at this time - I will be looking at this later and let you know what I find. Meanwhile read this post: Syphus

I know this may be obvious . . . But : -Restore your gear (using Custom Shop) -Go find the amp you paid for (Roland JC 120 a jazz amp) - It should say when you purchased it. Now if it does not show up as "purchased on XXX" - then that would be the problem. If it does show up as purchased, and not in Amplitube, make sure you are running the latest version (go to your user area to check). If the version of Amplitube is not up to date it could be that the model of amp has not been added yet (although it does sound like you found it from what you said). If it is still not instantiated . . . contact support. If the amp was from some bundle (for example Fender collection) - you may need to use the manager to activate the serial number in your account. I hope this helps . . . Syphus

Tracks playing back through speakers not headphones
Syphus replied to RICHARD HUTCHINS's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I have not checked, but the version that I have installed (4.63.23.563) are known to have a bit of a problem. The newest are 4.63.23.564. See The last comment talks about the BSOD.... If you are using 463 . . . see my previous comment in this thread. Sorry if not totally helpful . . . Syphus -

I had the same problem after I loaded the latest driver from Focusrite . . . I fixed it by reinstalling the the driver. Here is what I suspect happened (this for future reference for those that may have this problem): The first time i installed the driver, I launched Youtube too soon (more in a minute), and all my sound for the PC came thru the PC and anything using the ASIO driver was coming out of the Focusrite headphone jack . . . I did restart the PC - to no avail. I reinstalled the Driver and let windows do its thing and the driver install seemed to take a bit longer that it did the first time. I also got more messages as to what was happening from the install (than I did the first go round). I think I just killed the process some how by launching the Youtube video while it was still "installing" and perhaps the install did not finish properly. Syphus -
Got it . . . Was not clear as to how that worked . . . Best answer checked Syphus

I used the above process and it worked as you described . . . I'm considering this solved Thanks again, Syphus

ok - thanks scook! I will try the last on out and see if it works and report back . . . You are the AnswerMan! Thanks, Syphus

I was adding a new template to the "Start Screen" under "New Project". Once done, I wanted to change the icon (graphic) associated with it. I have looked in the documentation and I am not finding the info. So - Does anyone know how you would go about doing this? I see others (selections) have an icon? . . . Thanks, Syphus

Manchester, Michigan - Near "Detroit, Rock City!" Interesting enough - Born outside of Manchester, England (just a coincidence).

I updated this this driver and had the same type of thing happen: 1 BSOD caused by selecting the driver window (for adjusting the buffer) - when I went to close the window the BSOD happened 1 BSOD caused by unplugging the USB cable from the device (focusrite 2i4) After the second "Blue Screen" I reinstalled the driver (make sure the USB is unplugged during update) AND waited for everything to settle. Plugged in the USB back in and gave it a couple of minutes (I thing I got a message the the drive was installed) and things have been working good ever since... Don't know if that fixed things but it seems stable now. You could try that. I don't know if the older drivers are available (I think they should) you could always revert back. I always keep copies of the older drivers for just such an occurrence. I'm running a laptop with Win 7 OS Syphus

I got an email news letter advertising that the Brian May version was available a couple of days ago. . . . Then, this morning, I received another that appeared to the Japanise version. That happen to anyone else? I thought that was kinda funny . . . Syphus

@LadyFuzztail - I agree with your last sentence, I for one am not the most experienced in chord progressions. Could explain what you meant by " I think the reason for this disconnect is " . . . What disconnect - I'm just curious what the reference is? Syphus
