    I don't have EC 300, but I do have McDSP 6030 Compressor collection (10 x Compressors)

In Cakewalk, in the past I have noticed on a few occasions when I have opened an older project  that the 6030 has lost its settings - even had the Compressor model change.

This did not happen often, and I just put it down to things like Windows updates - on Windows 10 here.

Yep we lost  recal from v6.3 to 6.6 ... also we lose it if it passes from VST 3to VST and vice versa .....

McDSP instead of making solid maintenance seemed to be more concerned to dev a HW / soft solution that costs an arm and that nobody use ....

I sound kinda harsh , sorry , but just found out that i already created a thread on GS about that , i should have read my own stuff before buying , i know why i skipped it at that time ....

  2. Hi guyz , sorry to post here but i know you guyz chill around here a lot ;)

Just got EC 300 , great plugin , after some session recalls i noticed strange stuff : bingo no sessions recall under cirucmstiances : Analog mode , delay time set to time (not note)

Tested and happen in Studio one 4.6.2 & 4.5.1 and cubase 10.5 , working great in Sonar  (windows 8.1 here)

    Can anybody double check

Notice VST version works great BUT don't recall VST 3 settings , so and S1 don't let you have both versions in browser, if vst 3 active , no way to access the vst 2 version via browser (it should have solved my problem by using VST 2 from now and keep vst 3 for sessions recalls on other settings)

    Any help appreciated for

    1) confirming this

    2) a way to have VST 3 &VST 2 showing in studio one (like we can with some brands )

So, like many here I “left” Sonar Platinum three years ago and have used Studio One Pro ever since. When I started using SO, within a week I preferred it to Sonar, even though I’d used the latter for years.

For those of you who know both these days, how would you rank CbB now vs. Studio One Pro? Are there features that you prefer in CbB? I’m sure there have been many improvements since the Sonar days. Above all, is it rock solid from a stability viewpoint? Like many here, I have stacks of external plugins so I’m not bothered about an extensive list of onboard FX and instruments.

Two of the things I love about Studio One  - Melodyne ARA integration, and using it with my FaderPort 16. Also love being able to chop up audio and drag the gain up or down on individual clips.

Missing stuff in studio one that i really used to use in sonar

    1) oversampling option per plugin

    2) plugin menu layout customisation

    3) ability to put a plugin several times in folders ... ( like an eq in both eq and drive like the soundoys radiator for exmple)

    4) doking

    5) vu customisation

    6) most important: cpu optimisation when it comes to plugins handling , wayy more solid and less hungry.

It started with a Supreme Court ruling (June 21, 2018) - by now most states have stepped up their tax collection game and now mandate tax charged based on buyer location.

Still the poeple robbed after all those centuries , amazing how they managed to make it feels acceptable ... for the mass ...

  6. I think we reached saturation point, from what i seen last years , the whole year we ve been served with promo s at least it literraly non stop since june ...

Second finding is that ... resell value witch is imho Real value , is like never , catzstrophic , exept for brnand like sonnox , fabfilter , softube ect ... and this is something we should pay attention when the need of cleaning folder comes , we reached litterally the point where sharing linces is better than trying to sale and even sometime transfert fees makes the whole process useless .

PA is a perfect exemple with plugin sold 9 $ asking for 20$ as tranfert fees ...

we should create a forum section to share plugins ....

And i really encourage you guyz to slow down purchases ... 2020 was the intro , things are not looking great economically speaking , what i m trying to say is that money made from our tools will not increase , and for hobbyist , i m pretty sure you re already well covered .

Be peaky , or like me , spend x$ when you sold x$ of plugins prior to that .

I wish you all a happy new years , health and peace of mind ....

Not sure if this relevant but after 3 weeks in a hospital and not being able to listen to music other than on a phone which I didn't do because I didn't have a charger. The nurses would charge my phone. Amazing how apps to communicate suck the battery from a phone.   Then I went to a rehab center for 3 weeks and my mom have me a laptop to use so i could listen to music.    Oddly enough I started crying listening to music and it didn't matter the music.  That still happens after 6 months.

There is a sadness though that now there are no live performances, no DJs at dance halls, no orchestras.  It must be difficult to practice without a purpose.  One time a group of guys decided to play for their neighborhood from their garage.  If you live in a warmer climate and have less restrictions that's a possibility.  Online collaborations are not the same.

After 6 weeks I learned how fragile our mental health can be. I was a humbling experience.

Hope you're doing better , our anciens knew that all was about balance , and falowing passion is everything but benefical , and we become slave of it .

Balance helps "balance" , as well as some period of "retreat" as they used to do back then ... for my part this is in south of france without fam , technology and strict food feeding ... my best songs are written there , less time , more dens creativity with limited tools ....

I will release my Album asap for you to feel the diffrence between what i do usually and what i did there ...

I just did my best purchase of the year: I got u-he's Zebra, ZebraHZ and Diva on the NI's sale. Please, just don't ask me which one of these is the best, though.

I loose a similar sale a couple of years ago 'cause I waited too much. Not this time.

It was a bit more than I was planning to spend but... it's u-He anyway! And I believe they're doing this kind of sale in partnership with NI just because they adopted the NKS standard. Lucky me/us ! ?

Anyway, "best" is a very imprecise term in this context. It could be many things. Best softsynths? Still u-he IMO.

But if I was choosing the best "bang for the buck" of the year it'd be the IK Goup Buy for sure. YMMV.

    Solid choice , i have those , paid way more , and i don't regret ....

The only thing i regret is now taking more attentioj to plugin i purcahse specially their resell value / possibility

Don't have it in hand yet (ships tomorrow), but I bought a laptop to replace my early 2012 Dell XPS8500.

    I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad P17, spec'd as follows:

    Configuration Details
    ●  Processor: 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-10885H Processor with vPro™ (2.40 GHz, up to 5.30 GHz with Turbo Boost, 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 16 MB Cache)

$4829 list. Sale price $2799 direct (sale ends tomorrow, 12/30). I added the Thunderbolt 3 dock ($420 list). With an additional $400+ senior discount, I bought both for just under $3000, tax included!

Then I went nuts and bought a Samsung 2 TB X5 Thunderbolt 3 drive (for samples), 2 Samsung 2 TB X7 USB 3.2 drives (one for Documents folder and one for my ripped CD collection), and a Pioneer 4K blu-ray/DVD player/burner.

Merry Christmas to me, and to everyone of you!

I was about to jump on a X1 extreme higly speced myself but decide to invest in UAD , i'm ttired of upgrading 3 comps each time , at least 2 comps now (Mac is dead and i ain'yt getting any mac) , P series is imho a long term investment , great choice .... be sure to :

    1) customise power management (in windows 10 they sometime hide it , there's a manipulation to get it back ) and put cooling to passive , it will vent but way less noisy

    2) UHD might be to much at least you got a 17 " still can't understand why they still don't proposes 1440 p  it's beyong sanity !!!

    3) Congrats !!!!

My best purchase is also hardware:  My dual CPU 24-core 96GB RAM studio computer upgrade.  Having been in IT, I was able to find a nice enterprise-class workstation pull of a model that's known to be rock solid for Cubase (I believe Pro Tools also officially supports them) at a steal of a deal.

If I squeeze in a new control surface before the end of the year (unlikely), that will probably get honorable mention.

For non-musical purchases, if gifts count my wife got me a nice bottle of Lagavulin 16 that will last into 2021.  The Nick Offerman bottle (an 11 year) only has a little left so that's going to be a goner before 2020 is over.

    Z 800 ? Dell ? Lenovo ?
