Cork IRELAND. This drunk guy bounded up on the stage to talk to the singer to the left of me. Held his pint glass away from himself and poured it right into my GT-8. For such eventuality I did have another older pedal board. Yer man fcks off .. not a bother on him, and no I did not get paid for a new board

Thanks @Brian Walton .. Still not bought the TONEX pedal box - yet. Most likely an IK sale at some point that will drop the current €350 price for me ( Europe, VAT ) along with jampoints i have I really like the idea of a box like this to a DI / XLR and then to front of house / monitor wedges and no backline. In my last "covers" band we did away with backline and did just what i mentioned. I just had my Boss GT-8 pedal unit out to front of house etc and a feed of my guitar back to a wedge on stage. Less equipment to lug around. Also able to control on stage sound alot better, but then we used backing track drums TBH I dont really need to model much, but would be interested in somehow duplicating the work horse 8 patches I had on the BOSS GT-8. But not a huge "deal breaker" .. only do so if it was reasonable in both effort and cost otherwise find existing Tonex patches that are like the GT ones

" Can you go into a bit more "dummies Guide" detail on this one? Yes I have a DI. So out of the TONEX, into the DI, then via XLR on DI to Audio I/F??? "That capture unit isn't necessary but is helpful for DI captures without a mic and blasting your amp. " So you can do captures w/o this unit via your amp mic-ed up? What software is used BTW?

The Guy live DOESNT use an amp anymore. Just out of tonex to DI with XLR to desk and uses in ear monitors. Have a look at his videro here: In the vid he does mention a slight disadvantage that when switching patched there is a very slight delay. As always a good work around is provided in the comments: "Hey man, glad you're loving the Tonex. It's certainly an awesome bit of kit. In the vid you mention a delay when switching presets so wanted to suggest a tip which might help you with that. Out of the box, the Tonex is set up to switch patches on Release of the footswitch, not on Press. This is so you can use A+B or B+C together to switch up and down banks. Personally, I hated the way that felt - I want my patch to switch as soon as I stomp on the footswitch. So if you're happy to do without the option for bank up/down on the unit itself, then you can make your footswitches operate on Press and it feels MUCH more responsive. You said you're only using 3 patches, so it sounds like that'll suit you. But even if you want the option for bank up/down later, you can just plug a cheap 2-button momentary switch into the ext.control jack with a TRS cable and problem solved. Hope that helps, brother!" @ZincT "The problem was that I couldn't start the program to change VST paths etc as it was just stuck on VB-ROYAL during the startup scan." To sort that i usually just temp rename the vst folder names. Go into Vegas. Rename the plugin folders bak to norm. Go to prefs / vst settings / rescan. Best though to seperate EFX Vsts from VSTis to own folders

@ZincT With VEGAS on board I got round this by setting up a seperate NOT WORK WITH VEGAS vst folder and put the plugins causing trouble in vegas in here. Did not ref that folder in vegas VST prefs / paths. Of late though I have moved to setting up the following folder paths - c:\audio data\vstplugins64 - c:\audio data\vst effects In c:\programfiles\commonfiles\vst3 I have setup c:\programfiles\commonfiles\vst3\vst effects So once plugins installed I manually drag drop the EFFECTS vsts into these 2 effects folders and the other folders then just have the VSTi's / instruments. So now for likes of Sound Forge, Audacity, Vegas and other programs that DONT use the VSTi's I just put the vst effects folder paths into the VST Prefs/Paths and not the VSTi folder paths

There am I trying to re-install my Arturia synths on a rebuilt laptop. App Internet connection errors though elsewhere my Internet all good, Gigabit. I imagine this is BF issue with the site getting hammered?

FYI for all who pass this way. I can say YES to my Q. The KEEP PERSONAL FILES AND APPS does indeed leave everything as it is that was installed in the previous windows 10. I had a 2nd laptop with Win 10 on it and not too worried about it apps/data wise. Now up to Windows 11 pro, ALL latest updates happening no prob. All my apps and data as is. So now I am doing this Win 11 upgrade using the process in the OP on my main laptop. This extends the life of older laptops even further, great stuff. Thanks @Old Joad AND the system is far more slicker now ( Core i5, 16GB ram, 512GB NVME )

So .. to anyone who has done this here & did not do a CLEAN install. Does the KEEP PERSONAL FILES AND APPS do just that? Is all the software installed in your Windows 10 and the data left alone? OR do you still have to reinstall everything after again? Yes I realise one should BACKUP all the data regardless. Im just refering to the already installed application software in your windows 10 for example CW, Office, Reaper, Vegas, Affinity etc etc

Well I suppose now or soon enough, if you still have Win 10 on systems, its worth considering this because after next year - October 14, 2025 - Win 10 is no longer supported or updated which means many apps will stop supporting Win 10 also. Realistically if you still have an old laptop with win 10 ( like I am typing on ), after October 14, 2025 it becomes a dead duck really so this process is probably worth doing

One interesting thing about Tracktion waveform is you can use the FREE Version which is pretty well unrestricted vs alot of other free DAWs. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free BUT you can then add a choosen feature to the FREE Waveform thats part of the PRO version if you dont want all of whats in the PRO version. I have been crying out here over the years for CW to do alot of work on the MATRIX view. Basically to make it similar to Abletons SESSION VIEW. This is a fab feature for spawning ideas and creativity. It seems Tracktion waveform 13 has done just this and added what they call the CLIP LAUNCHER. And yes, its essentially Session view in Ableton. In waveform Pro 13 it is launched using letter M and then over right on that panels icon edge click the show clip launcher button:

Where does Cakewalk NEXT fit, this new ground up version of CW going? Its big adv is CROSS PLATFORM as Sonar IS NOT. It does have the XSAMPLER built in. I like NEXTs simplicity ( me a very longtime user of CW, since 90s ). From a marketing perspective i really dont get where NEXT is. Its part of the current sub I think, so you get new SONAR and NEXT. WHY? Whats the point? Most likely you will use SONAR over NEXT feature wise? NEXT is a groundup new DAW, where does it fit one wonders? In my view it should be marketed seperately instead of chucked in as an "aside" with Sonar. I was hoping .. at least .. they would provide a path to NEXT for those in the BETA ( I was in that ) but they cut us off at the June update ( as in more updates ). Yip it seems they have "fixed" the issue Yesterday I could get this far. I own Waveform basic 9, 11 & 12 free plus a few of there plugins But today its: So Im beginning to wonder IF I had gone and paid the $59 yesterday would I have got the full version of Pro for that price. We will never know now

I dont want to try the paypal or CC in case I get charged but then it wont work .. as in the install file looks for a previous ver 10, 11 or 12 on my system.
