Many thanks for the awesome comments Cakewalk peeps! ?

Thank you Wookie, I appreciate the compliment very much! I just a moment ago uploaded a new version of the song. It is 7am in the morning, been up all night working on it. I changed the piano to a 12 sting solo I played in the instrumental portions of the song. Now matter what I did the piano just would not fit right. Let me know any more critiques no matter how small. ?

Hey Andy! I spent about 5 more hours on the song tonight (until my ears were saturated again). I added some chorus to the piano, it helped some... I also changed the drum voicings as well. I added some heavy compression to the drums and convolution reverb settings as well. At least the drums meld into the song more rather than just sit there. Maybe the piano needs an octave lower as well. I will think about it, It need something more maybe. I've got a day or so before the song gets published.

Hello HockeyJX! I will go back in to the project before publish and try and make the drums more present, and I will also look at other drum kits to spice it up thanks for your input, it is very helpful! Nitpicky comments are exactly what I am looking for! ? This song really challenged my ears, during the mastering phase my ears became useless. They were so fatigued that everything sounded harsh and flat. Having good meters were very helpful in that instance. A few days later my ears can now pick up where they left off. The trick is to bring out as much detail in the lead instruments as possible without it sounding brash.

New song awesome Cakewalk peeps! Critiques are welcome! Best! Rex

Wow! Your comments are all very nice, I am very honored by these flattering remarks from Cakewalk people whom I truly admire! I went through and found the harmonies that were off and I think I fixed them. As for a harmonizer, I do not use one. I am fortunate to be able to hit a lot of really high pitches with my natural voice. I am really glad you have liked this song and I hope my latest edits have given the song the attention it has really required. I thank you for the really kind comments and I am also very grateful for the honest tips that help me exceedingly great to get these songs right before they hit the streaming services. Love and big hearts to you all! Sincerely RexRed

Bajan Blue, I am still working out the harmonies at the end. Some of them may have shifted to the wrong step. I will go over this song one more time before final publishing. Thanks for your input, it is very helpful. ?

You know that is what I was thinking about was copyright protection. I do recall Izotope Nectar blanking out parts of the audio in Cakewalk when a plugin was present and not authorized. So they have ways of shutting off the audio passing through them when not enabled or authorized. Sometimes it can be as simple as not having their app that authroizes them in the terminate and stay resident startup apps dock by the Windows clock. There is a lot of piracy so I don't mind them trying to guard their product from theft as long as it does not become a pain trying to use their product legally.

Thanks Noel, you were right. Well, this is what happened. I took my M.2 Windows 11 OS chip out of one motherboard with an AMD CPU and placed it into another motherboard with an Intel CPU. It booted up perfectly without any noticeable hitch. Until I loaded Cakewalk. Then I noticed the freeze-ups. When I went to insert my (numerous VST) synths I realized they no longer were valid due to ilok associations. I had to request the old PC be disabled and then reauthorize them all. Now Cakewalk plays fine! YAY!

Load balancing causes play freeze. When I play my 96khz 24 bit projects with load balancing on Cakewalk will stutter drop out and stop. It never used to do this before. If I take load balancing off it plays fine. Any ideas on this? It doesn't happen on 48khz 24 bit projects. Even when I change my RME Fireface UCXII interface latency it still freezes.

Hey Peeps! Here is my latest music song. Let me know what you think. I played the clarinet solo in the middle of the song on a real clarinet. lol The solo may need more editing and I could not get the sound the way I wanted it. But it is okay I think. I may change it to something else. Let me know your thoughts. Best to you! ???? Rex

I need to listen to it in headphones and see if i can detect what you mean. The song is still a WIP so I can make any changes, it will soon pass that deadline so it is good to know this now rather than later. Thank you very much Andy for the alert on the guitar lead panning. Best to you!

Hey awesome Cakewalk peeps! Here is my latest song I just made the first mix of today. Comments and suggestions are welcome, this is still a work in progress. I have not recorded the electric guitar solos yet for it and there might be some mix changes as well. I hope you enjoy this new song! Best to you! RexRed

Andy, your descriptions are quite nice, thanks for the really great comment! The Eagles are kings of harmonies (and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young as well)... Yes Paul, the drums to me did not sound right coming in full volume, it seemed stepping up the drum volume worked better, a little less intrusive. I am surprised you picked up on that. When I left the drums low throughout, there seemed to be something unsatisfying about it. I really appreciate all of the critiques and compliments on my music awesome Cakewalk peeps! Best to you! RR

Big thanks to you Steve for your kind and very flattering comment! I love the Eagles and they are a great influence indeed! ?

If you purchased this song on Reverbnation be sure to download the new version as well. This is why I use Reverbnation, so I can offer new updated versions to my fans under the same song they already purchased. ???

Hello Hockeyjx, I brought the lead vocal down into the mix more. I fixed a weird harmony part that was out, it is closer to being right. Turned the reverb down a bit on the ending vocal part that was way too wet. I added a bit more reverb to the lead vocal. Your comments were entirely spot on! I also found out that the lead vocal compressor somehow got bypassed in the other mix. That is turned on now. These comments are VERY helpful peeps! Thanks lot for the awesome critiques! ????

I think I fixed the link, sorry I may have posted this in haste. Thanks for the heads up Hockeyjx. I hope that works now!

Prochannel compressos and EQ are the only compressors and EQ I use except for Fabfilter L2 in my master bus bin. These Prochannel effects work so well, have great fidelity, are convenient and seem to have a low impact on my processor. I have a lot of other compressors and EQs but these prochannel effects are then only ones I really like and use. Anyone else feel this way? Proprietary to Cakewalk too!
