I think I can safely say I got most of my weird issues worked out. Everything is working as designed. And I can't really tell how happy I am. Just switch on a random synth, start playing, it works, it sounds great. I'm learning a LOT about my synths by just playing around, failing and then making it work. Take the Matriarch arp, it sounded nice, but not amazing. So I just upped the arp speed and suddenly everything clicked! I'm learning to play live for which I'm taking lessons. I try to at least play 1 synth live in a jam session. Let me know what you think!

Really solid product, use this a lot and would set it above Substance by Output. And Drum Tools 02 is a huge sample pack.

They have some nice products (not groundbvreaking, but nice), they are priced according to that and I use some of their synths as a preset template for the hardware versions I own (CA2600 and PS20).

Thanks! I can leave the house, but not willingly ?. The main 'problem' is, I have an hour to kill, so I start jamming and before I know it, I'm 3 hours in. I think the keyboard you're referring to is the Arturia Microfreak. It's an awesome little digital synth (analog filter). The patch is called 'Far Away'. The keybed of the Microfreak is touch sensitive and responds to how much of your finger is on the key. That in turn controls modulation, in this case the filter envelope. I then put it through the free Valhalla Supermassive for a huge modulated reverb. It also adds stereowidth which adds a little extra because the Microfreak is mono.

Alright, my best one yet. I really happy with this! I was playing around earlier this week with the Novation Peak and I stumbled upon a nice sound after some tweaking. Then I lost that sound because I didn't save. ? But luckily I did record it. Then I thought, screw it, I'll build from here. Doubled it up with another arp sound. Decided last minute (almost literally) that I needed a lead sound. And boy oh boy did the Microfreak deliver.

It may be silly to 'kick' an old thread up, but I remembered this and I finally got the Lyra-8 this week. Jammed a bit just now. Decided halfway through to put a beat under it and I think I created a pretty decent techno track. Just instant vibes.

Lurssen is a good one and worth the $29.99. I often use it to get a (very good) ballpark master sound. Then I can compare it with what I get from Ozone. And then I can try to recreate it with other plugins. Or when I'm just jamming and don't want to bother with spending too much time, I just slap it on. Don't expect magic, but it is a nice tool to have.

I find myself in this weird situation in my productions lately, where I tend to bury my transients. Could be I'm overdoing my clipping, could be I'm not sidechaining enough, but this could also be the moment I have to saturate my drums some more. And more is always better, sooo....

No! ? Well, it just works great on a drumbus. If you need some grit and/or aggression. For me, it's a mojo box, it adds a certain character. And I think it works best on drums. I don't bother with the presets because it's very easy to setup and to find your sweetspot.

Get Loc-Ness 2, use it on drums, thank me later.

New week, new jam. I was having a lot of MIDI issues I couldn't really figure out (I also didn't take the time). Although the Novation Peak is on another MIDI channel than the Moog Subsequent 37, when I was changing parameters on one, the other would react. Very weird behaviour. Perhaps some signals were on an "all" channel? Changing presets was fun. I had made a good one on the Sub37, changed the preset on the Peak and gone was my Sub37 sound. So I ended up just not using the Peak and sticking to Moog. I have to fix this MIDI mess I created for myself. Anyway, used a new camera but I'm not happy with the quality. It could be that it just sucks going against the light (normally I have the curtains closed), so I have to fiddle with the settings and lighting a bit. Editing was (again) a real b*tch. Somehow I keep messing up things in Davinci Resolve so I have to invest some time into that and make my own tutorial. It took me hours while it should only take about 30 minutes or so. All in all, a bit frustrating jam, also because I messed up the filter settings on the Matriarch which resulted in a huge difference between left and right. I had to overdub the take. Oh and I had a bit of a hangover, that didn't help. At least I look pretty in pink, so that is nice. ?

I see people worrying about these kind of mergers, but I have to wait and see. In other lines of business, a merger can have consequences for quality because there is almost always some 'streamlining' to be done. I wonder how and if this is the case in the music software business. I think it is a pretty unique market. There are A LOT of independent developers who keep on making amazing products, rivaling the big names in popularity. The couple of big names became this way by delivering quality. And they can't drop that. Image Line can't drop the ball, because the switch to Ableton is made overnight (and a month or so to get up to speed). NI can't drop the ball because Orchestral Tools is right behind them. Izotope can't drop the ball because there are a bazillion other products which do the same. Every UVI product has an amazing counterpart. But they all co-exist because we can use them all together. And we do. I see people use FL for making beats, using Ableton the next day for a live setup and in the weekend they are in protools mixing and mastering. I can use Falcon in project A and Omnisphere in project B.
