  1. Hi MACCE. I'm glad that you enjoyed it and thanks very much for taking the time to comment. I very much appreciate it. Thanks very much Lynn. I did reach back a bit for this one but when you like a particular style of music it kind of sticks with you. Kind of like being bitten by the Blues Bug. Thanks for listening to "I Went To The Well" also. I had some thoughts to express in this one and since the concerns in this number are happening world wide, I thought that I would try a bit of a world beat_ish style. Thanks again my friend, and I"m glad you are finding a bit of time back on the forum. I look forward to your new postings on the forum.
  2. This took me back to that early 1960's style. This number has a great melodic feel and you vocals are excellent and really bring out the sentiments of the lyrics. Excellent stuff Allan....1
  3. I absoflippinlutely love this. Boy can I relate. I played in a couple of band in college but my working life put a serious dent in playing guitar. So, after retirement I picked up the guitar again (primarily as a tool for calmness and therapy ?). However, I am still struggling and also want to be guitar musician (better late than never). You are an accomplished story teller in this song and your video was full of humour and complemented the music/lyrics. What a treat to watch-listen to this. Well done!!!
  4. First of all I do hope that you are healing up and on the mend. I believe that this number has a bit of a different feel from much of the music that you have posted. A bit more melancholy or introspective that usual? Although it has a wee bit of an edge, it is a beautiful song. It does, however, carry that furry signature of yours. That signature of being able to weave sounds into a wonderful tapestry of music.

    THROWN AWAY

This is a beautiful song with very intimate lyrics. Your vocal presentation certainly delivers the message and emotion. The rest of the arrangement and instrumentation certainly accent the entire feel of the song. I'm not normally attracted by soft ballads but this song pulled me in like a magnet. Thanks for posting!!!
  6. Excellent!!! I just love that bass punching throughout the entire song. The vocals are excellent and the rest of the instrumentation and the arrangement perfectly carry the song along (including those great guitar leads). You have been posting some terrific music . I hope that the album is doing well. It deserves attention.
  7. I certainly echo the kudos above. I particularly like the intro. It reminded me of some of the torch songs of the 1940's where you would expect the note(s) at the end of a phrase to go up but they go down. I always thought that was cool. This song certainly builds with a lot of layers and all add to the song. I agree with the suggestions about a nice hot guitar added to this --- but --- then, I'm a guitar guy with a slight prejudice for this instrument. I also like the outro finishing the same way that the song started -- with the piano. Veerryy nice indeed!

    Tamiami Trail

Here is a little number that is somewhat biographical --- sort of. Back in the olden days, when I was at University, my future wife and I had to live separately for a while. She lived in Miami and me in Tampa. When I could gather together enough money and if I had an available weekend, then a trip to Miami was the only option. The Trailways bus driving down the Tamiami Trail (US Highway 41) was often the preferred mode of transportation. The happy ending was that she was able to move back to Tampa while I finished up schooling. This number is done in a Bluesabilly style with that Chunka - Chunka rhythm that I love. Anyway, I hope that you get a bit of a giggle from this song. As always comments, suggestions, crit.'s, etc. will be much appreciated. 9. Sorry for the delay in responding guys. For an old guy who is supposed to be enjoying a leisurely retirement, I am much to busy with stuff!!! Hello Tom. Thanks for your kind comments and encouragement. I would be delighted if you would send this to your friend and equally delighted if they would give it a listen. In fact on my SoundClick site there are more like this. Thanks again. Hi Bapu! Thanks -- I'm glad that you liked it. Thanks also for the suggestion. I'll be pulling up the working file and giving the vox a 1db knock down. BTW, I really liked the song on your last post!
  10. Now this is something that you don't hear often. A cheery Blues song! Well done!!! To my fossilized ears it has a bit of Paul McCarthy feel to it (most definitely meant as a complement). Clever lyrics and great delivery of the lyrics. All over terrific song and great mix. BTW - I have been retired for a number of years and I highly recommend it to anyone that is still working.
  11. I certainly echo the positive comments above. I think that is my favourite from you so far. This is a song well done! The lyrics and music certainly express strong, introspective emotions. No crit's from me.
  12. Your aunt is quite an accomplished artist and poet. You have also created quite a composition yourself. What a lovely video and sentiment! You are really becoming quite accomplished at marrying video and music. Well done!!!
  13. What a pleasant song indeed! Your playing was wonderful not slow. (BTW - Eric Clapton used to be called slow hand). Thanks for posting!

    Dance Shower

I agree - this is a nice, uplifting , feel good type of song. I dunno tho, I kind of like the ending. Anyway, I enjoyed it and music is meant to be enjoyed --- Isn't it? Nice one!!
  15. I remember this song but I don't remember the video. Ah well, aging does have it's disadvantages but if one wishes to look on the positive side --- a brand new Bob posting to look forward to and enjoy the heck out of!!! I love the tempo changes and as we might always expect from you, your vocals and playing are top notch. The BGV's are excellent and I even appreciate that little busy signal at the end. As always you have created another cool, heavy-metal, hard rocking, pro-sounding song (how is that for multiple adjectives). Great stuff pal!!!

    Mondo Lynn

This is an absolutely wonderful instrumental (yea - instrumentals). This had a definite chill-out effect on me. The performance is perfect and the mix sound good to my ears. Doggone good playing --- I might add. Gee, I might just have to give it another listen
  17. I thought that this one had moved to the back pages. So, I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and for the kind words. Thank you very much Paul!!!
  18. Very impressive indeed. An interesting fusion of sounds and styles. It sounds as if this required a lot of time and effort in putting together this piece. Nice work!

    Resolution

Hi Robert. Don't worry about your ego here. Starting as a complete novice on this forum, I have learned a tremendous amount about songs, song structure, recording and particularly about using DAW's. Without the help and advise received on this forum, I would have been stuck - and - it all of this learning was relatively painless. Now about the song. Actually, I liked it and thought that it was quite good. It had a good interplay between the two leads and as Bjorn mentioned above the bass and drums fit in nicely. As it is now, it has a relatively stripped down structure and sound. I argued with myself (a bad trait of mine) about that. I really like the sound as it is. It allows one to concentrate on the song and instrumentation itself. It is a very cheerful sounding piece and perhaps it shouldn't be complicated. On the other hand, as suggested above, more structure (e.g., more instrumentation, fills, etc.) would add more depth. However, that might not be where you were trying to take the song. The argument with myself ended up pretty much a draw but slightly on the less complicated side. Anyway, I am glad that you posted this song. I enjoyed it!

    Skin Tight

Ya, it does have that '80's sound. Terrific performance and production. The guitars (bass and 6 strings) really carry the song and the vocals are excellent --- but --- the live drums are the icing on the cake. It has been a while since we heard something from y'all and I'm glad that your back. Keep 'em coming Bapu!
  21. Cool! "High energy" --- that might be considered as an understatement. Excellent performance, great playing, top notch mix --- definitely A+ marks all the way around. However, that seems to be what you do! Really professional sounding work Bats.
  22. Hi John. Another nice song from you. This one also carries the emotion that some of your other songs have presented. You really get a wonderful introspective match of vocals, lyrics, melody and instrumentation that conveys this emotion. BTW, I like the reverb on the vocal backup fillers. Really good stuff --- thanks for posting.

    Hey There

Hey all! Sorry for the delay in responding -- but things have been just too doggone busy. Hi Rik. Thanks for listening and commenting. Also, thanks for the heads-up on the lead guitar solo volume. Now that things have calmed down a bit I am going to give a look/listen to both the both the bass and guitar volume. Hi John. Thank you! I am very glad that you liked it and I very much appreciate the encouragement. In writing my SC description, I was under no desire of or delusion of commercial success. I knew that I was only entertaining myself with the ever so slight chance that others might might find a giggle in my folly. Who might that "somebody else I know" be? Hi Daryl. The Travelling Wilburys? Wow, I certainly appreciate that! Thanks very much for taking the time to listen and comment. I really appreciate it.
  24. Now this is indeed my fav of your music (at least until the next one). How do you get that vocal sound --- a bit of double tracking ????? This is a bit more melodic that I have heard from you before and it has a nice sound to it. However, the Jesse signature is still there. The lyrics are great and that acoustic rhythm really carries the song along. Nice touch with the organ sound. The lead guitar work is really nice and adds some nice accents to the over all feel of the lyrics and song. Good stuff Jesse!!!!!
  25. Welcome back to the forum Lynn. We have missed your contributions to the form. If you are too busy to do a bit of music, then you must be to doggone busy. No crit's from me on this one. The lyrics and message are excellent. You really have put in some strong vocals in this song and the harmonies are great. Oh ya, the little falsetto whoo hoo's at the end -- very cool!!!! I really love the strong bass playing off of the distorted guitar panned left. Excellent work!
