I always enjoy listening to your songs and this one is no exception. Clever lyrics and excellent vocals!!!

I too remember the first one. You have come up with an excellent mix on this one and the instrumentation is great. Nice work on the saxes.

For your consideration, here is a melodic little number that reflects on the question given in the title. A suggested point to consider is given somewhere near the end. Ya, being a faithful follower of "stay at home" during the bad part of this pandemic (especially here in Florida), I have had too much time to spend thinking. Thinking is always a dangerous time for me. Anyway, it is a bit different for me and being such I hope that you might provide feedback, suggestions, crit's, etc. Thanks and I hope you enjoy it. CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE HAPPINESS IS? https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=963481

I always fancy the Blues! Boy did you capture the feel of the electric Blues -Chicago Style - in this number. Great performance and hot vocals indeed? This was done all in MIDI. Wow! I felt like I was at table right in front of the stage at a live performance. It reminded me (a bit) of one of my current fav's - the Cash Box Kings (minus the harp). I believe I shall have to go back and listen a couple of more time. Great stuff tom!!!

I loved the music and the performance (by all) was top notch. The video adds a lot and is matched well to the topic. BTW, luv your vocals! Well done y'all.

What a beautiful song. The music really accentuates some heart pulling lyrics. The vocals and harmonies are excellent. This mix sounds professional and radio ready to me. Well done!!

Old Joad. Thank you for listening and for the kind words. I kind of grew up attracted to Blues, Jump Blues, raunchy rock, etc. To misquote John Lee Hooker --- it's in me and has gotta get out. At least some of the time. Thanks again!

Wow Lynn! Excellent work. One of your best. Wonderful arrangement - the instrumentation is great - the mix sounds great to me. That guitar work is excellent as are the lyrics. Your phrasing on the vocals is top-notch. Let's see --- did I miss anything? I thought that I commented on this previously but I'm glad that I checked and listen. Well, if I missed anything shame on me.

Ha - absoflippinlutely wonderful! Music certainly adds to the mood of a film. You have done an excellent job on this. I'll be "lurking" for more fun stuff like this.

I don't know - maybe I am demonstrating my lack of musical knowledge but I really like the minimalist sound of this song. Your introduction of new sounds being introduced then withdrawn to me are very well done. The basic instrumentation carries the song. Both blend together well and create a nice relaxing, fun atmosphere. Very nice indeed!

Well done indeed. Very melodic and excellent vocals. The playing is well done (I like the panning on that Wah guitar lead) and the mix sounds great to me. Nice one!!!
-
Very nice indeed!!! The musicianship is great, the recording/mixing is very well done but the descriptive lyrics are really the icing on the cake.
-
Now this was an interesting piece. I couldn't catch all the lyrics but those that I did catch were indeed interesting. However, it was the music that definitely kept me listening. Very cool and well done!!!

Allan and Makke -- thanks for listening and for the kind comments. BTW - I thought that Sally & Alley might be an easy rhyme but resisted the temptation. ? Also, my apologies for being so late in responding. During this period of staying home my wife has found a lot of projects and fix-up things for me to do, and some how time has quickly faded away. Thanks again!!

I agree with Tom above. This song has a nice balance of mellow and full dramatic sounds working together. I particularly like that strong bass sound panned left. I must have been late to the listen because the ocean sounds were gone. Nice one David!

I was listening to different styles in the 1970's. However, given that, I can certainly recognize good music of any genre and this certainly is an excellent song. Luv, the intro change up. Mix sounds good to me and the performance sounds was very well done. Kudos on a job well done.
-
You must have corrected the reverb because it certainly doesn't sound too strong to me - but - then again I love reverb. This is a cool song. Disco with an edge -- cool!! Fun and uplifting lyrics as well. This is a great song on it own and as is. I would leave it alone but if you are trying to make it a dance song some of the comments made above may help.

Welcome to the Blues buddy! Sounds like you have found the real meaning of the Blues circa late 1940's to late 1950's (maybe with a little beatnik feel thrown in). Believe it or not Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac captured that sound in the late 1960's (love the track long grey mare). By the 1970's the Blues changed (IMHO) and became more "slick" with a lot more emphasis on lead guitar skills. Until that time (IMHO) the Blues was more about a story and "feeling" the message. You do not need to be apologetic about what you have done here. I think that you have captured the rhythm and feel of the Blues of the era mentioned above. You did a great job on talking the Blues but I agree ---- the volume could come up a bit. Good Job my friend and remember when you play the Blues --- hang loose!

What great entertainment! Is sure helps while "stay at home" is in effect. Of course the video was great but the music was equally great. Definitely a different take than the original song but what a treat. I liked it better!! Great arrangement, performances and professional sounding mix. The Mrs. did a great job on the vocals. Well done y'all!

Hey Wookiee. I dunno - for a fossil rocker/Blues guy/rockabilly cat the technology and patches are a mystery. I have been in conflict with basic MIDI (in trying to use it for instruments) for quite a while now. However, I enjoyed it and I think you captured what you were trying to accomplish. Nice one!

Well done David!! I think my Irish grandmother would have liked this song!

Wow! I"ll just have to echo the superlatives that I have used before: excellent- lyrics, performance, production, and knock out video! I particularly enjoyed the effects on the cocktail scene. Your consistency in putting out quality stuff is amazing. We might be practicing stay at home, but this was 3;14 min that made staying at home much easier.

This takes me back indeed! I love the low Fi "60's sound to this. You have done an great job on duplicating this cover but still you have made it your own. BTW great job on the vocals and harmonies.
-
Cool country rocking. Being a sucker for reverb, I can appreciate the use of the 'verb. The intro especially but all of the guitar work sounds great. Vox and harmony also sound good. Nice one!!
-
Thanks Tom. I appreciate the suggestions. I was going for a gravelly overdrive sound on this number --- particularly with that guitar panned hard Left. I am not schooled or competent enough to know if or what a 60hz cycle buzz might be. I must rely on what it sounds like and unfortunately (as it is with reverb also) I tend to over-do. I'll go back an see about bumping up the drums. Thanks again!!!
