What an absolutely pleasant song (composition, performance, lyrics and vocals). To my tired old ears the last mix sounds good. Nice one indeed!

Hey tom it is great to hear something new from you! Hopefully, this opened the door for you to get out of that creative funk. I agree with the comments above - the mix sounds doggone good and professionally done. The separation of instruments (sounds) is excellent and clear as a bell. I don't know squat about MIDI and struggle with it but I do know when something is good. In particular that bass and guitar (sound and performance) are great. Yup - please do make this a full song!!
-
No Jesse - don't trash the bundle!!! The new mix sounds better (not that the 1st sounded bad at all). IMHO it sounds good! Given my prejudice I like the guitar part. The point is do you like it. Maybe - just put it away and come back to it when you feel like it. Then get it to sound like you want it!

Thank you Jeff. I appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment. I certainly agree with your observation. Unfortunately, we do need reminders of the folly of "Silly Old Men" and even the greed of silly young men. As long as our species is around we will probably always need these kind of observations. Thanks again!

I listened to the the alternative version that you posted and was most impressed. The vocal is a wee bit weak on my less than adequate headphones but that was the only thing that I could think of as a suggestion. The mix I heard sounds great and the performance, instrumentation, lyrics, vocals all sound great to me. Well done!!!

Love it! It reminded me a bit of some of the punk/new wave stuff coming out of the UK in the late '70's - early '80's. Great lyrics and story!

Hey Jesse -- spiders - this had me itching and twitching. As far as the mix, I thought that the bass was only a wee bit too strong in brief sections -- but that depends on what you thought what the bass represented and what you wanted from it. For me the keyboard was the same way - a wee bit dominant but only at times. Again that depends on what you were looking for. Being a guitar guy to me any guitar should always be out front (yes, I am predjudiced for 6 strings). Anyway, all that was nit picking. I always find your stuff so doggone refreshing!

Hi Lynn. You are right the sentiments expressed in this song could be applied to a number of different era. Wouldn't it be nice if they didn't apply to the future!? Thanks very much for listening and for the kind comments. Now that you have your computer up and running, I am looking forward to some great new song postings from you! Hey Wookiee. Send the silly old men to the front line of the war zones --- you certainly got that right!!! I am getting mighty revolted of watching the video of refugees trying to escape wars from so many different places on this planet! Thanks very much for listening and for the kind comments!

One of your best Lee. You expressed some great sentiments, vocals-instrumention-performance were all done very well. The mix sound spot one also. Nice one indeed. Glad to see you back on the forum.

You have done an excellent job on this cover! All versions that you posted sound great but maybe because of my geriatric challenged ears I rather like version #2 the best. Your vocals and harmonies sound great.

This is a bit different than the galaxy trip music that you have been previously posting BUT it is equally well done. I love that bass sound that you created panned center. My wife does not like elevators but if this song was playing it might even calm her down. Very well done!! I'm really sorry to hear about your struggle with essential tremor. I know it must be worrisome and also frustrating. I wish you the very best!!

Hi John. Even on my less than adequate headphones this sounds very well done. Good lyrics, arrangement, luv the guitar work (carries the song along) and the vocals (lead and harmonies) also sound good - and -- maybe just a wee bit more volume on the vocals (they deserve it). Also thanks for posting the video tutorials!

Hi Nigel. Thank you very much. Your comments are much appreciated. Hey David. You're right -- Putin is not that old but he most definitely is scary. Thanks for taking the time to comment - much appreciated!! Hi Tom. I first heard U2 at Tampa's punk palace at the time (The Buffalo Roadhouse). I had to immediately get their album (Boy 1979 or 1980?). I loved that echo-like sound. That and the echo-like sound of some of the early R 'n R and rockabilly songs probably contributed to the abuse of that effect on some of the stuff that I have done. I certainly don't consider myself a musician. My work took me on a different path and it is only since retirement that I have attempted doing music. My knowledge and skills are minimal but I sure have a blast working (not really work but fun) on it. Since being on this forum my learning curve has been exponential! I very much appreciate the tips that you have provided and the encouragement that I have received from you. Thank you very much!

Being one who only listens to top 40 when my wife drives our cars and has control of the radio - I wouldn't know if it were a top 40 hit or not. In spite of my lack of awareness of top 40, I still like what you did with this!

I was first introduced to the Islands when some lads and I went to Bimini and did some diving. There is definitely a pace of life there that is definitely appealing. As one who loves looking at things under the water, they certainly provide lots of opportunities for that! Luv the song! The performance, mix, and yes the vocals all sounded great to me. Well done!!

Even though I can't put my fingers on it, this is a very appealing song. Is it the lyrics, your vocals, that organ, all of it -- ? I don't know but I do know that I like it. Well done!

Frigid, frosty, and absoflippinlutely downright Cool!! Luv it! To these old aural receptors (AKA ears) it has a wee bit of a early Gang of Four touch. In my book that is very cool. It is my new favourite from you. -
Hey Jesse. Many thanks!!! Really liked your recent post! Hi Bjorn. Thank you - your comments are very much appreciated! As to the vocals, I recorded 3 separate vocal tracks. There is the lead vocal and a high harmony throughout the song. A low harmony was added in for the choruses. There was no intent on my part to transpose anything. If it sounds like it. then that probably is more a function of my timing problems. ☺️ Hopefully, it worked out? Hi Makke. Thanks very much for listening and for the kind words. Hey Douglas. Thanks for taking the time to listen and thank you for the kind comments! Much appreciated! Hey Hidden Symmetry. I'm very glad that you enjoyed it! Thanks very much for listening and your comments! Hi Bert. Wow thank you very much! I am glad that you liked it and thanks for the kind words!

GREAT STUFF!! Shame on YouTube! The message as delivered by the the lyrics, audio, video, and performance was excellent! Well done!

Creepy, kooky and cool indeed!! This was 2:28 minutes of enjoyable listening.

This is a great urban country rocker! To my mind (or ears) it sounds great. I do not like to comment on the mixes since I do not know what I am talking about. However, being one who loves small venue live music (sadly interrupted during the past couple of years) this genre seems to beg for the live action feel. IMHO you have gotten a good balance between the live feel and a good mix.

Jeff above referenced a radio station to which he used to listen. "Back in the day", I used to listen to alternative music on our local university radio station (before the university shut it down). I guess that might be one of the reasons that I enjoy your postings. Another reason is that your stuff is so cool pal!!

As always this is an excellent piece of work Nigel! A brilliant combination of messaging, visual artistry and aural mastery. Your website is most impressive also! It is informative (e.g., the pieces on promotion and tips for independent artists) and is laid out perfectly to encourage the viewer to explore your products. Quite a lot of talent is expressed at a number of levels. Well done indeed!!

I guess everyone has been subjected to the past few days of constant "Breaking News". Well --- this prompted me to look for a song that I did a while ago and I actually found the working file (an oddity for me). I dusted it off and made a few tweaks as it seemed appropriate for today. The mix is still a bit rough and I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, crit.'s, etc concerning this song and statement! Many Thanks! Aaah Jesse you have again captured life. Particularly the past few weeks - internationally. You know I always appreciate your stuff -- as do I this one!!
