Just a quick question to what people use as i am thinking of a new keyboard controller 49-61 keys. This is my list what iv'e narrow it down too but i could have missed one out. . Here's my first place which i believe i prefer. Anyone use these with cakewalk? 1: Novation Impulse 61-49 key version sounds the best all rounder. 2: Nektar Panorama P6 (seems expensive) 3: Arturia KEYLAB 61 Iv'e also looking at M_Audio and Akai but few people say they break easy but not sure Any experiences and opinions welcome for easier work flow and obviously we are the main instrument so maybe something that gets our juices going.....

did a little experimental track

love songs are difficult unless you really feeling it or end up being cheesy.. this is not cheesy

Burning in the shadows, short little tune of experimental ideas with some sound design and i probably should have done more singing and not spoken. However excuse the video, i don't like it, banged it together for something to watch whilst you listen top the tune.

If someone can't write banging tunes and create good music using Cakewalk, i don't think it is the DAW to be fair
-
Friend does use Pro Tools, he was put off with Cakewalk because it was free and what "some" people say but he has since seen me using Cakewalk firsthand, editing midi, creating my own samples, recording and comping, my libraries and my range of plugins including the stock. Yep he could believe it. Due to it being free and so good, all the other DAWS manufacture's attack it and probably pay for people to spread bollox. Another friend uses Logic on a Mac because they like everything mac. Iv'e been giving some productions lesson and some tips, so hes like how you do that on logic and i just find they made quite a few things on logic long winded and no logical in that irony. People don't realise how good cakewalk is in reality

I would for sure use a vocal bus, simple solution. If you also use any FX on vocal tracks and dependent on how you use a bus don't forget he FX can send to master a stronger signal than your main track depending on your wet/dry mix settings on FX, same again if you using fx on bus and you are send your track to master and bus because the bus will send back to master. You could have a few things going on from your explanation. If duplicating your lead vocal you would set a bus different to having a lead vocal and backing tracks. If you are just adding warmth, air and life to a lead vocal by duplicating the lead track i would do it on a vocals room lead bus. Sometimes its not good to duplicate, some people do it for the sake of it which can ruin a vocal because you get phasing and bleeding which then you may loose the personality and bits in your voice

Yes i have this one but its a hungry plugin and from time to time it does cause the odd issue on my system which a reload always sorts
-
thank you so much for the complement, i still will try harder on next track but maybe a little break as im training someone to use cakewalk from the beginning who knows nothing at all, its actually fun. We haev progressed on to stage gaining now from recoding levels and audio haha
-
Thanx Freddie, song's i like nobody likes, songs a bang together people like, always the way lol
-
You have got recording your vocals and FX for vocals down to perfection P
-
I think i sorted the 6sec thing out, was a short song for me, sample and drum experiment. I actually didn't like the break but didn't want to waste anymore time on the song haha

Yes i have had that bizarre jumping at times. I think its also cache setting on our phone or PC at times. I tested on phone and seems aright now, maybe a gremlin in the system. Glad you liked it, was challenging doing the scream metal voice, couldn't sing for two days after that lol I am happy with my mix, drums and master is bit better on this one. Payed with a few free compressors and saturation ive been testing. Some great free plugins out there. Everyone calls me P lol Who is P is a long story for another day....

I always leave my video open for interpretation, glad you like the music P

Few little guitar riffs i sampled and got creative with the drums

When people say double track, it can be a lazy gimmick at times. If you double track you can pan on left and one right to create width. Or parallel comparison is sort of a double track with glue in the back ground brining out second track with colour and harmonics, nice with saturation or tube/tale emulator. Double track is also good to sit one track more in background with a different EQ to make it shine and the forward track more warm so not in your face, send these to buss then that bus glues them if you add some compression saturation or whatever you feels works, you can't replace a good ear lol

Lovely track, there's some easy tweaks here and there with the mix (master is good enough) Drum needs some compression to let those harmonics ring on and maybe a kit change (preference but black velvet heavy kit) maybe some little pause and gaps on the drums to break them up from such a standard beat in places (to drum machine sounding but the rolls are good) You could maybe add the odd percussion sound in areas to help the change in drums, they stay very steady when your vocal gets more emotional and drums needs to go with voice, needs to add the odd cymbal or something. Some space needs creating in areas for vocal, i even think some parallel compression on your vocals could help. i would maybe create space with EQ but i try not to do to much with EQ if i like a sound so will i always use pan as everything sounds down the centre in your track (drum and bass yes centre , but keys and rhythm guitar you could place with pan and maybe create more width with far pans, you could even bring the vocal out with width and centre to glue track more. Maybe a smidge of reverb or delay to fit in between, however i will always use automation "automation is your friend" like compression on a master . I am not being critical i love the track (demo) so more post production will help you learn. Compression can be a ***** to learn due to the different types which can make a track pump or sustain or add colour and life like saturation another friend. Again a nice track, really well written P

its because I'm writing something and can't sing it the way i want to. If i change the melody, then it just sounds crap and its not something you can auto tune really because i just cant sing it

Cheers paul, im struggling on my current song, need a female singer in parts, my voice just isn't working lol

Addictive Drums 2 setup question - How do I....
whoisp replied to hockeyjx's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
When you add i instrument (midi) i.e Addictive Drums 2, it will be default mapped and normally C3 on your keyboard is the kick or C3 in piano view, if that makes sense to you. You can isolate in Addictive Drums 2 plugin in the kit view. Mute everything less what you want i.e KICK or edit by clicking E which will take you to edit to tweak your kick. HOWEVER its better to isolate using tracks for many reasons like a sidechain. If you have written a midi score with all the kit being used and you want to isolate the kick, the snare, toms and symbols add 4 Addictive Drums 2 tracks and copy paste your score into all the tracks you added. Rename one Addictive Drums 2 track to Kick delete everything out of the midi score less the kick and do same for the rest. This means you isolated each instrument so you can EQ each track to suit or side chain your kick instead of the whole drum kit. I think this is something you maybe trying to do. Probably good to sign up to creative Sause new Cakewalk free program
