I totally get you. I had some Yamaha HS8 and got rid of them and went back to my old rare Lars & Ivan 2.1 system. They are only true 14RMS but the signal to noise and the 20Hz to 22KHZ range is all i need but i can hear the nuanced sound better at close range as they sit right in front of me on the desk for testing. i prefer my cheap pair of Sony MDR 7506 as my ears are just trained to them over my ridiculously expensive waste of money Sennheiser. Ive also got a nice pair of Bose but use them to track in vocal booth so I'm not moving cables round all the time

What do you use and why for mixing and Mastering? What headphones, monitors and who uses a sub?

Thanx Jesse nice to hear..

I'm liking the new updated jam session to be noodling haha nice vibe, sounds a bit like a fender

wow my kind of funky vibe. love the bass and it is jelling with that guitar .... I was waiting for it to chill and the lady's voice come in lol

Got a nice little sexy hook and nice change into the keys. I think you should be a bit more brave sometimes with production. i think you're trying so hard to keep it clean and space (im probably wrong) but maybe there was a few bits where everything was competing and you should sometimes drop some instrument's back. Its like the instrument on the left is competing with the instrument on the right, sometime you can drop one instrument back and bring one into the middle for a chorus or middle 8 with a room bus. A tip, the instrument on the right put its reverb on the left and the instrument on the left put its reverb on the right to glue the mix. I would have tried some delay to through the voice at times as a surprise. love the vibe, this is where my old rock roots come from, good guitarist and vocal tone P

Cheers, thanx a lot Freddy, hopefully my next one is better but a drastic change of style i think

Thanx i like my classical instruments

Different every time haha i go where my ears take me, I see cakewalk as about 40 Templates in the FX chain for vocal channel and mastering etc but ive never used any of the cakewalk chain templates, however; I honestly think they should do a upgrade on VX 64 vocal strip and do a nice VST3 version (make it there own) Really you should start with a preamp you like, pitch correction maybe, noise gate before compression so you don't make it worse, EQ with de-essing and some effects like delay reverb and maybe stereo width. This beat needs to be the VOX CAKEWALK STRIP.. get making it guys lol
-
Funny you say that, I'm experimenting with a drum sequence at the moment with separation to get the tail end of the delay on a snare hitting the next kick which then hits the next snare it. Iv'e been doing some trail and error which as taken hours lol

Yes i had my YouTube account in 2010 but only started using it last year and have had no success on getting followers about 300 haha. I think you have to engage with live videos and constant updates but appears paying for some marketing helps as everything seems to be more about money these days on social media.

I have a strange issue with my Novation Launch Key 25 the new MKIII version and Novation could not help but i have it working if anyone interested. For a start the MKIII brings in 2 midi inputs Device names with how Windows handles USB devices; LKMK3 MIDI & MIDIIN2 (LKMK3 MIDI) so you need to add 2 act midi controllers for the one device. (ACT MIDI controller 1 ) = LKMK3 MIDI (ACT MIDI controller 2) = MIDIIN2 (LKMK3 MIDI) Now this creates a problem with having 2 controllers with "1 hardware device" The Novation Launch Key 25 "New MKIII version" and i am not sure if other hardware have this same bug or programming issue, i would suspect yes when it comes to USB. You also have to install the Novation USB driver, most keyboard controllers act as mass storage device, they will run some start up software for mapping or presets or registration etc Breif: Controller 1 LKMK3 MIDI works with "MIDI learn" to populate fields like play/stop/next group etc i created template "Novation LK 25 MIII" and save it and works great. However, when i "enable " strip parameters to use the "ACT learn" to start deep intergradation for in this matter SynthMaster plugin, it will not work on that controller 1, whereby; We move to Controller 2 different name "MIDIIN2 (LKMK3 MIDI)" same device but a more compatible with cakewalk act learn. When i "enable " strip parameters on Controller 2 to use "ACT learn" works a treat so i can control a plugins like synth-master. In this case i can control the 8 EZ KNOBS etc for automation and live jamming on the controller etc. Therefore, I had to set up 2 controllers to learn midi & plugins, only "controller 2" would deep learn with act which will not work with 1 controller, you still have to install both act midi controller even though its the same midi device. Hope that helps anyone

Cheers Wookie thanx for the help with that controller, its come in very handy indeed

Cheers Nigel, iv'e not watched the Bourne films but will now haha Not really listened to Moby for years but did have 3 or 4 tracks years ago on my ipod for running which was natural blues, porcelain and why does my heart or something like that. Apparently hes a good guitar and base player phil

HyPe Train.. Been setting my Novation Launchkey 25 MKIII controller up and it's assisted with the automation on synths and FX. The free software with the controller is something else ? Give us a follow on Youtube and i will follow back

I will 3rd the Squier by Fender J or P the Affinity range i do believe I also have a SGC Nanyo SB 300 series bass guitar which is my go to bass, not sure how much in USA but they do great bass full active and passive and you can pick them up cheap second hand for 200-300 dollars in USA

I have the 25key Launchkey MK3 version have you got transport or worked out to assign the custom knobs like the tempom and swing knobs i want to map them to a couple of synthmaster EZ knobs
-
You got preset for Cakewalk?
-
Anyone Got the Novation Keylab 25. Ive had to install the Novation USB driver which sorted the first problem, so now all my inputs and output are good. I have now managed to calibrate the controller to use keys with pitch and mod. I am wondering if anyone as cakewalk custom modes or mapping templates to get more use out of pads etc or is this a long process i need to work out haha
-
My friend is giving me his M-Audio Oxygen 25 V as hes upgrading to more keys and i already have keys . He says it has pitch and mod with knobs for filters so sounds like do the trick
-
Anyone using M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini 32? ive read only works with Pro Tools and Studio > Honestly its given me head ache. Not to fused about the keys, more so needed for work flow for pitch/Mod Wheel then to fine tune after with automation, simple pads and buttons. Something maybe with presets and doesn't break easy, Nektar Impact do list cakewalk Also looking at The Novation Mini MK III Akai Mini MK3 Nektar Impact LX MINI Native In KK A25 MiniLab 3
-
Yes i was thinking more of a keyboard with some basic preset mapping. You make the Arturia KEYLAB MK11 or the Essential seem the best option even though ive heard the Novation Impulse is pretty much the same with mapping
-
AKAI Professional MPK Mini looks like a little jem to be fair now you mention AKAI. i will still use they full set of weight keys on my Yamaha electric piano i already have mapped with peddle, its perfect for playing, full-size and full action next to my desk which i just wheel over to on my chair or pick my guitar up. I just need something compatible with cakewalk, minimum pads to add fx sounds or percussion/drum hits on few pads when jamming so I'm not programming midi all the time. Thereby, something with pitch, mod and filter wheel knobs or buttons with a few assignable. The rest i will do in daw as i am not really a EDM producer but i play keys, Guitar and bass with some singing but ive been expanding with electronic integration and upbeat dance vibe. So sometimes with adding automation i would like to do some by assigning to controller wheel or knobs etc to test and jam a ideas in real time. If i want something phasing or a filter wave mod etc so im not going into the automation programming with nodes when i can probably just turn a knob in real time with automation write getting it spot on with timing or close then i can tweak them in daw later if you understand what im saying haha I was messing doing a gradual pitch with automation the other day and wasted ages which takes 1 second if i had a pitch wheel lol
-
Food for thought for sure, so provably between the Arturia MkII and Novation Impulse which is £150 difference in price but sounds like the extra is worth it. I want it more as a go to as i do my automation with programming but be good to jam with it on a controller.
