I'm always trying to bury my voice in the mix, lack of confidence. Regarding the higher notes, I think this is as good as it gets. The further I get into my 60s the more I find myself making minor adjustments with Melodyne I'm 73 so I know what your getting at, but these days you can adjust your work's pitch to suit the higher range of your voice. I have had loads of people over the years in my studios who thought they couldn't reach notes ...but with a little training ( and due to the fact they really could sing ) they achieved a great result .. try out a few la' la laaas with proper breathing to prepare your vocal chords too reach a desired pitch ... and tune your song to your voice ... after all it 's your song 😉 Again .. good work ATB Steve

To my ears this sounds like a good start to an idea that seems to work with good meter. Your vocal is too low in the mix for this attempt and TBH you need to practice your breathing technique to reach those higher notes ... you have a great voice and that is an instrument in itself. I would work on this a little more as I feel it has great potential ... I have writers block bad time at the moment and if I was writing this I wouldn't think it was rubbish ..Good luck with it

Awful mix .. the vocal needs more presents and the back beat ( showing my age now ) needs a revamp on the bass and high end frequencies Good song though and worth the time ? Steve

Sorry to be a pain ( and I have a doggy right channel (ear)) but it does need a bit more separation on the backing ( stereo ) ... not the guitar track just the meat and veg on backing track Steve

Have to say ... Really have to say .. your best stuff yet to date( IMHO ) . Hi Paul .. the first rendition is right for this bit of work, I listened to this and thought how much ( to me ) it was perfect ... raw and with words/Lyrics that made absolute sense. We always try a little harder, thinking that's what might be more professional and a little more acceptable ion the world of mixing /songwriting. Well, for me there seemed little or no improvement when hearing the second mix ... OK it seems better ... but it's cold and doesn't have your spirit in the words and that is IMHO is what is missing ... So for me it's a great song with a real message and I love it ... but may be a different approach to the mix ... you are a great songwriter and Muso ..I may not always comment but I love your stuff .. Keep the spice .. ( That's what I think .. anyway ) ATB SteveSRM
