Hi Kevin, First off EZKeys2 is a monster to learn properly so you have to spend some time getting the hang of .. like so many plugs out there. Lynn switched me onto it some time ago and, like you I wanted a piano player for my songs ( Although the wife nearly divorced me, due to the cost !) With all these plugs that claim to get you going with a song the patterns ( MIDI files ) can be a bit laborious for the user to find ... and this is no different, but the save in grace is the ability to purchase different MIDI packs of various styles ... at a cost! I find the software very useful and feel I could recommend it. It is possible, and this is the cherry, to send MIDI out using the patterns you have available to control other completely different instruments ... great toy to play with and it gives you different ways to hear, say a bass or midi guitar etc. I think you have a choice of two packs when you but it, which as said, can be added to later. The sound of piano is EZKeys although I feel NI's piano very useful ... just down to taste really. Overall I have found it troublesome to pick due to my impatient nature but there are some very useful YT Vid .. try shootie school. Hope this helps ... Oh and thanks for the comments mate .. it does mean a lot ? ATB Steve

Is there anything in this world like 'True Musicians'
SUPAREELS replied to SUPAREELS's topic in General Music Discussion
It sure as heck ain't for this humble duffer to decide for anyone else who is or was a "real musician" or even a "musician." You have hurt one of the people you have listed ... I apologise for my comment 'real '. As one who I writes and composes a mix and sings their own songs , while turning to this forum looking for advice of my piers ... for many years. I have tried to help singers and songwriters over the years, either spent in the studio or wetranfer, with the little talent I have ... but I have never seen myself as an an incompetent or a stupid person, although with all the given talent shown here I sometimes have low estimate of my work. Your comments are well received by this old duffer, and as you have tremendous experience as shown in your history you must know .... -
This is bloody good, great mix and I don't understand the message at all ? but that don't matter cause it's real Kevin Walsh! Well done and thanks for the post .... I'm singing it now ..well the hook really LOL?️ Love ya stuff Steve

Thanks t .. Been listening to your work on SC ( 6 107x ) you are a blinding guitarist ... made me sing rock all day LOL .. Steve

It's an absorbing read. For all of us that write and present here for review, your input has intrigued most of us in the forum .. never stop believing anyone has more talent than you ... after all do you see millionaires posting stuff ... didn't think so ... and most music these days I could do with my NI Micro ... your stuff always tasks me ..even after all the years of listening to your work / /// keep going ...... Many thanks for the post ? Steve

What a wonderful comment, you really touched me .... thanks Jesse Steve

Just to say mixing is really much harder than people think, for me I have mixed and mastered songs in the past that I cringe when I hear them now ... meaning I meant no disrespect for the work you have done ? I, like yourself, watch and read a lot of stuff on the procedures of a good mix and have done for many years ... and still the experience of the guys here put me right when they hear somethings out of kilter so to speak .. anyway hope we're good .. I leave you with this gem from YT

Hi, Are you pushing everything through the same output channel ie no separate bus's? To my old ears there is little differential between guitar and drums when it comes to reverb .. this gives an overall output similar to an overly compressed sound. You have separated ( by choice I assume ) some of the guitar solos which does seem a bit harsh so maybe pull them closer to the middle field ?. The skins are great but I feel could do with a little more compression on their own bus before the LR Mix ( Main O/P )this way you could adjust to lead the overall mix. As said the reverb is IMO a little too wet .. but who knows when you add vocal ... great project
-
The lyrics are very thought provoking, just wonder where the seed/spark came from, there are few here IMO that stand out, and I would include yourself as one. It's hard getting a song like this finished let alone mixed so well ... thanks again for the words, thoroughly enjoyed listening again ? Steve

I really liked this one especially the chord change and vocal mix. That said, I think the break is too harsh and isn't as professional as the rest of the work. bring the guitar further up in the mix so as to match the urgency of the vocal ... to, what sounds like a Lennon 'Oh ya .. and back to the meat and gravy, the main song. There's a bit of kit made by Softube call TAPE it's a plug that emulates a reel to reel and could be used to join (if that sounds right) the break back to the song ... just an idea ? Wishing you and your lot well Steve

Disturbing and yet again ... ? ATB Steve

Hello mate, Well another super mixed bit of work from you. For me it's whole and leaves the listener wanting more .. yep it's a bit abrupt plus no lyrics , something I really like to have whilst listening Tch! Love your voice man, and in parts I could hear a bit of Clapton in it ... like a dusty Eric LOL ... loved this one so well done and thanks for the post ATB Steve
