  1. Hi Bjorn' Thankyou for your comments, I am going through a bit " fed up with this music thing ' at the moment so your comment really cheered me up ? Stay well Steve
  2. Thanks for your comment .. Paul Simon is one of my ( as many ) ultimate singer songwriter ? Steve
  3. Great sounding track and a pro video. Everything seems just right,.. well done m8 but then you knew that. One thing .. it sounds better here than the album track .clearer somehow ..makes it even better and fantastic album ! ATB Steve
  4. Just to say mixing is really much harder than people think, for me I have mixed and mastered songs in the past that I cringe when I hear them now ... meaning I meant no disrespect for the work you have done ? I, like yourself, watch and read a lot of stuff on the procedures of a good mix and have done for many years ... and still the experience of the guys here put me right when they hear somethings out of kilter so to speak .. anyway hope we're good .. I leave you with this gem from YT
  5. Hi, Are you pushing everything through the same output channel ie no separate bus's? To my old ears there is little differential between guitar and drums when it comes to reverb .. this gives an overall output similar to an overly compressed sound. You have separated ( by choice I assume ) some of the guitar solos which does seem a bit harsh so maybe pull them closer to the middle field ?. The skins are great but I feel could do with a little more compression on their own bus before the LR Mix ( Main O/P )this way you could adjust to lead the overall mix. As said the reverb is IMO a little too wet .. but who knows when you add vocal ... great project
  6. The lyrics are very thought provoking, just wonder where the seed/spark came from, there are few here IMO that stand out, and I would include yourself as one. It's hard getting a song like this finished let alone mixed so well ... thanks again for the words, thoroughly enjoyed listening again ? Steve

    Spellbound

I really liked this one especially the chord change and vocal mix. That said, I think the break is too harsh and isn't as professional as the rest of the work. bring the guitar further up in the mix so as to match the urgency of the vocal ... to, what sounds like a Lennon 'Oh ya .. and back to the meat and gravy, the main song. There's a bit of kit made by Softube call TAPE it's a plug that emulates a reel to reel and could be used to join (if that sounds right) the break back to the song ... just an idea ? Wishing you and your lot well Steve
  8. Disturbing and yet again ... ? ATB Steve
  9. Hello mate, Well another super mixed bit of work from you. For me it's whole and leaves the listener wanting more .. yep it's a bit abrupt plus no lyrics , something I really like to have whilst listening Tch! Love your voice man, and in parts I could hear a bit of Clapton in it ... like a dusty Eric LOL ... loved this one so well done and thanks for the post ATB Steve

    The Gull.

Looking forward to the finished album ,,? Just a little too simple with the triads .. maybe a pad as a contra flow / enhancement to give this bird flight LOL .. but otherwise good potential for a future project .. ATB Stay well Steve
  12. Hi Wooks, Takes a lot of time to master ( Not that I have yet! ) but it does present you with some usable patterns that you perhaps wouldn't think of. However the availability to send it's Midi out to other plug-ins is really great .. I've used it to play bass from NI plus various pads and coupled with the the on board editor it's mind blowing ... Oh how would have loved this many years ago ... Stay well my friend and thanks for the listen ATB Steve
  13. See what you think of the remix Lynn
  14. Many thanks Nigel ... means a lot coming from you ? ATB and stay well Steve
  15. HERE'S the finished song .. Thanks for your comments ??
  16. Hi Andy, sorry I didn't mean to sound glib when I said thrown together .. or big headed ...All I needed to do was see how this thing worked and I never spent too much time on production., as my friend Lynn pointed out LOL. Regarding the software, I'm with you, just getting used to how it works. The one thing I love is the setting for MIDI OUT and it's a game changer, I use a lot of NI stuff and I have started to use this function for all kinds of instruments .. works great with other types of pianos but I've tried it out on bass lines and guitars ..blows your mind when you think back to the old days, using tape or the ATARI ... wish I had this kind of stuff when I was a kid ! Oh and BTW good luck with the house renovation ?️ Steve
  17. I liked 'I AM THE WALRUS' more .... really suited you vocal ATB Steve

    Dron&on&on&on

HM-mm .... I dunno Wooks, your stuff gets me into trouble with the misses, in that I find myself humming to a song I've never heard ... but I have ... It's these compositions you write !! Much love Steve
  23. Just seen your idea to set up a solo ! Yikes!! I agree with John Vere .. You should be very careful when using an Aux out to anything that can't handle a high output signal ( Like an Aux out ) ..Even though John suggests setting your input very low, so as not to overload the preamp, ( excellent advice ) you might still get distortion from this signal. The Solo is made to use with it's USB to PC and then to your desired DAW, meaning your inputs from the SOLO go to your PC and then back to the SOLO, which should be heard from either cans or speakers, ( Monitors). Read jesse g's suggestion if your amp sound is really the sound you want .. My strong advice is to look at the Focusrite W/S and study how your £140.00 device works as it comes with plugs like Marshall sounds etc ... before you damage it ... plus it should help with other setups you might want to make in the future ... KNOW YOUR GEAR ...? Chaps has a good idea .. ?
