Praise indeed ! Thankyou Larry ... it's a sad fact that life has not improved since writing and performing this so many years ago ... ? Steve

Hi Lynn, thanks for the comment. My view on spectralayers is that it's a great tool for separating stereo back into different stems, that said, it depends on the version used but even so it does work like magic. I use it with CB11 pro but there is a trial version available I think. I have had great success with tape mixes I have produced and people have been extremely happy with with the results . .. so give it a go ? ATB Steve

You were right about the vocal track, I think I got a bit lazy with this one as it's so old, but I'm so grateful for your input. This one took around 3 weeks to do soooo many years ago on a Tascam 688, and my mixing skills when producing the stereo with CW were, ... well none existent ... spectralayers was the only way to achieve this result. Many thanks again mate Steve

I see what you did there Mr Skinner LOL, .... thankyou for the comment & listening ATB Steve

Thanks 4 listening mate, I am a humbled man . ?.. however I'm done with this one LOL Best regards Steve

Lovely melody, my pennyworth would be to widen the strings and allow the flute to have some room. Try to play the flute sample just as you would a real flute, remember the breathing pattern allowing a believable rendition. Have a listen to counter melodies .. might help to really bring this one to life. Steve

Many thanks for the comment .. and your dead right it is an old cakewalk project already mixed down to stereo, ie no stems to play with, hence spectralayers. Great bit of kit as I get so many old stereo recordings made on tape that need a remix. Thanks again for listening ATB Steve

Remixed to bring out the vocal track a little more using spectralayers with Jack & Bjorn's comments in mind

You are dead right .. seemingly an ignored but fantastic DAW ..and now for Nicks ! Although I'm shown as joining this in 2020, I joined much earlier then that, ( I had the Atari version and a DX7 for my midi !) it was due to the lag involved between Sonar's disbandment, and then Bandlab taking over the helm after the lag. Sadly I ditched the 'supareels music' tag and crossed over to Cubase Pro. I wrote to SOS regarding their narrow vision for this DAW, having read their monthly mag since they called themselves MAPLIN then 'Electronics & Music Maker' inquiring why they never really gave it the respect it deserved, after all there were so many professionals using this DAW with great success, yet still it didn't reach the dizzy heights of, say, Pro Tools. I had paid full price for my Cakewalk DAW right up to the Boston version and I thought that was great value at the time, ... but my message was, obviously, completely ignored as you might expect, I never bought another Mag after that. I could go on but my message is that Bandlab saved a lot of Musoes and this is a very warm place to be with helpful reviews, seemingly using any DAW. Personally I use Bandlab, Cubase Pro 11 and pro tools. BUT I ALWAYS use Bandlab for new songs because it's still an easy tool to use ....so keep posting JKOseattle

That was great ... listened to it three! times .. for me it's the best song you've written so far and the mix is faultless ...ACE Steve

I absolutely love the musical tapestry in this work .. for me you have achieved a feel of despair but somehow an escape from how this world is and could be, it moved me as much as the Beatles 'Let it be' , in that it's a simple message but as the music changes one's mood changes. For what it's worth this is a great piece. Tech wise maybe hold back a little on the reverb throughout the work just to give more variation. Thankyou for the post ATB Steve

Great stuff David Stay safe Steve

Many thanks and I thought the same ... as said it's totally NI's 25 plug, so maybe ... who knows Thanks very much for the listen and your comment. ATB Steve

I have to agree, hence the title .. and as Xmas is nearly upon us why not ?, have to say it's NI's plug-in called 25 (celebrating their 25 years in the business) and it's free at the moment so worth a head over. Thanks for the listen and comment ? ATB Steve
