  1. I still don't get the idea of word "moving" from one DAW to another. Like you are leaving your girl to live with another one. Come on, DAW is just a tool, you can have many if you like and afford. I don't love Cakey for sentimental reason only. I love it for its functional reason. Many aspect (including this wonderful community) could lead me to love certain tool so much, but sometime I need another tool to make my work done in different situation. I don't need to feel sorry to install Cubase, Protools and Studio One in my PC, though I only use them probably once in a year. The point is to make good recorded music (audio) in the best practical way possible in different situation & circumtances. Indeed, I feel lucky Cakewalk has one of the best community in the world.
  2. Running Cakewalk with GTX 1050 is more than enough, even with 2 screens on 4K resolution. My third PC -which is my video editing PC- is running GTX1050 without any problem doing home video editing. My main DAW is running GT 730 with 2 screens for like 3 years now. All is cool. GTX 1080Ti is famous to play graphic heavy games or serious video editing programs.
  3. Ozone has been great mastering tools for years! I have no doubt about its quality. But I'll wait until few more months (could be a year) before I upgrade to see more review on their new release. I'm still using Ozone 6 and I'm happy with it.
  4. 1. Even when you collapse the Multi Dock, the tabs for those "views" should remain visible on the bottom. 2. Edit --> Preferences --> File --> VST Settings and un-check "Recycle Plug-In Windows" . If it's checked, CbB will only allow 1 VST instance to be visible at a time. 3. It is very common by design that many other Windows application (like CbB or firefox) to not remembering the Fullscreen status when you close the application. Means if you close the application in full screen, the next time you re-launch the application it will open in last opened size without full screen status.
  5. The real challenge (at least for me) in track view is to find the spot where you can actually select and drag the track to new position. You need to aim your mouse to perfect location in the track for the cursor to be able to select and drag. I find the easiest spot to find is somewhere around the volume slider.
  6. Edit --> Preferences --> MIDI --> Playback and Recording. Is everything checked to record?
  7. Can you attach the mentioned midi file for us to open and see?
  8. Yes, actually the limit is imposed by the MIDI standard which almost all synth followed. For years, many manufacturer tried to build more than 16 channel capable synth (For example Roland SC88 sound module which is capable of playing 32 parts on 32 channel), but they require two MIDI in port to access the channel 17-32.
  9. It supposed to import as 2 track mono (L and R) , even if you only select one audio track when importing, Cakewalk will create additional audio track for the R part right after the L track. BTW, are you the same AlChuck (Alan) from hr.com bbs? Glad to see you here Hope everything is well with you bro.
  10. This is interesting, I will test as soon as possible. The problem is I need to test in live band situation which is not going to happen so very soon due to social distancing thing. I'll make sure to test every possible setting before I replace the HDD. I'll post the result here.. Thanks!
  11. By "selected all tracks", do you mean MIDI track or audio track? Does the new measure inserted have same time signature with the rest of the song?
  12. Thanks for confirming that the processor and the RAM is not the bottle neck in this situation! I knew it can handle the job. ? My Core2Duo PC above was built around 2009 as second DAW to replace the stacked ADAT system to record 16 audio tracks simultaneously. During those days, we still used acoustic drum with many mics involved. The purpose of the PC was only to record, capturing live band. I transferred the captured material to my main DAW for editing, mixing, etc. It worked just perfect with Sonar 8.5 (if I'm not mistaken), never had any problem with it for years. I believe the Deltas are fine. It was perfect solid machine. In 2012 we replace the acoustic drums with E-Drums (Roland TD) so we no longer record drums as audio, instead we capture the MIDI and use sampler (Supperior drummer). So I never have recorded more than 8 audio track simultaneously anymore since then. I use this second DAW also as my "mobile DAW" whenever I need to track in clients location. I never feel the need to upgrade anything since it worked just perfect. The only thing I did was replacing the HDD 2 times after some years. I have a feeling the bottle neck *could* be the HDD cache. In 2009, I used 2x 2TB HDD with 64MB cache. Now, it's running 3x 500GB with 8MB cache. I heard the cache will affect how fast the HDD writes in multi track situation. I'm not sure, I haven't tested it. If anyone has valid info, please let me know.
  13. Yes, the 'Remove DC Offset During Record' is ticked (selected). I think I never touch that since installation, I leave it there by default. Do you think it may cause problem in some case? The ThreadSchedulingModel=1 Is there anything I should pay extra attention in case of 12+ tracks simultaneous audio recording? Config, hardware, or anything that may cause bottleneck? Thanks! ?
  14. If you want to use "drag and drop" method, then (to avoid confusing) make sure you insert soft synth NOT as simple instrument track. Make sure you open the Insert Soft synth Options and select "Midi Source" and "First Synth Audio Output". You will have 1 synth track and 1 empty MIDI track. Then you drag the MIDI file into the empty MIDI track. That's how to do it properly. Hope it helps.

    HELP !!

The original question was about asking why the "Surround" page disappear from Preferences --> Project. If you use workspace that does not include "Surround" (in "Show in the GUI" on workspace manager), then the surround will disappear from the Preferences.

    HELP !!

Yes, if you go into workspace manager, you can see you can control what to show in the GUI (including those in menu).
  17. Either intel or AMD will do... I have built many intel and AMD machines for multimedia work, as long as you know what to do (and what to expect), both are great. If you ask people on the net, they will always discuss & debate about how one is better than another for the sake of their own argument. Get over it, like comparing apple and orange, in the end, it's always be a matter of taste and sentimental reason.
  18. Few days ago I went to record a full live band. This time, the band wanted to do 16 audio tracks simultaneous live recording & I thought it would be good opportunity to test my old trusted system to do the job. It's been long time since I do 16 audio tracks simultaneous recording. Usually I record only 8 tracks max, and I never had a problem with that. The pc in use is an old machine. Intel Core2Duo E8400 8GB DDR2 Ram Win7 x64 SP1 2 x M-Audio Delta 1010LT PCI card (clock synced with external Spdif cable, one as master and the other as slave), latest driver available for Win7 x64. Latest Cakey 2020.04 3 x 500GB 7200rpm HDD (that's right, HDD not SSD), 1 for OS, 1 for recording data, and 1 for pic cache. Recorded in 24 / 44.1 Audio buffer size 512 samples Playback I/O & Record I/O buffer size 512k (Cakey Preferences audio sync and caching) After a couple hours of mic positioning, wire routing, cable management, setup the monitoring, etc, the session was ready. I did few short recording test to see if everything worked as expected, and it did. So there we go. Then the session began, we did about 8 cover songs recorded live. Everything *looks* ok. Each song was recorded in different cwp project. The day after, I open the recorded projects to mix, just to realize something is not right with the recorded tracks. I found many random erratic sound all over tracks. Looks like something in the chain is not that "strong" or "fast" enough to handle the session. I attach the sample wav of how the erratic sound like. Did anyone experience this? What do you think causing it? Any suggestion what to do as to improve my old system? Any comments are welcome. Thanks ! Record 1erratic_sound.wav
  19. Most of problem with screen layout and position is caused by "Workspace" . Have you set the workspace to None and try again?
  20. Glad you solve it, please edit the title of the thread, and add [SOLVED] .
  21. You can try using CAL attached. Quick hint, insert first note, highlight it, the run the CAL. It will ask for range of notes from the base first note. for example, if you insert C as base note, then answer 2,4,5,7,9,11 as they are the range of "re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti" from "C" . You can adjust the length of the first note inserted before running the CAL to suite your timing & duration of the glissando. Hope it helps as starting point. GLISDOWN.CAL GLISSUP.CAL
  22. Yes, there is bug in the docking panel. I reported months ago, and it's confirmed. I believe it takes time for the baker to address the problem. We hope it can be fixed soon.
  23. IMHO, this is prime reason why bakers introduced screenset years ago. The most important feature to make efficient of our display real estate.
