Dangit you guys! ?

I created and maintained a WordPress website for my kids' school organization a few years back. One of the security plugins I used was called WordFence IIRC, and it would report the number of login attempts by unknown IP addresses among other things. I spent many weekend mornings blocking specific IP's and chunks of IP addresses that were trying to access the site by logging in as an "admin" user. It was alarming. I suspect plugin devs are juicy targets since they are setup to deliver and download executable files.

I posted this site a couple of years ago when the it first started up, and I can say it's been really great. There are monthly mixes (usually two) for practice where you can post and get feedback, contests, challenges, "duels", tutorials and plenty of knowledgeable and accomplished mix engineers who are super friendly and helpful. https://audiomixclub.com/ The current contest is a Mix Audition for $300 and a mixing credit on the release for the mix that's chosen. You can read about on the top banner. I got the OK from the artist to post his rough mix on here: It's hand-down been the best mixing forum I've been a part of. Cheers!

Which freebies (and near-freebies) encouraged you to buy a paid product?
mibby replied to Starship Krupa's topic in Deals
Yes! This one and Kush's Omega TWK are my favorite grit/distortion plugins at the moment. They're both so easy to dial in and see if they'll work or not. I also picked up Nembrini's Boss Distortion when it came out, so the FREEBIE definitely put Nembrini on my radar. That, and he's the dev for most of the PA amp sims, so there's that too. His Blackice bass amp is on my list but waaaaay too $$ without a crazy deal. -
You must have been soooooo conflicted last year when CLA Epic came out last year! ?

Dang! I'm behind on my Audiority plugins!

Which freebies (and near-freebies) encouraged you to buy a paid product?

Melda, Tokyo Dawn, SoundToys, Kilohearts... Kuassa. IK Multimedia. Izotope... Valhala and Klanghelm. Excellent freebies and giveaways over the years - I'm pretty much "all in" on these Devs too. HOFA and Blue Cat have great freebies, but their paid plugins have never really broken through my price-point to pain threshold enough to draw me in, so I've pretty much moved on. -
So I looked on JRRshop.com and didn't find it. Then I remembered the "blow out" section had a different shopping cart. Well, it also has a different "My Account" too! I found it in https://blowout.jrrshop.com/customer/account/ but NOT in https://www.jrrshop.com/customer/account/ That seems odd. (?)

Yep! I was thinking it was BestService, but I don't see it in my account...
-
Yeah, I don't think the intro price was even that low. $19.99 IIRC...
-
Sweet! That's one impulse buy that paid off! I was wondering if it was a mistake as well. Regardless, it worked! They're all in my account.

Perhaps THE best installer around!

FrontDAW by UnitedPlugins was free when it first came out. I LOVE that thing! (no longer free) ReverbSolo by Acon over on Reverb.com. I don't know what it is, but I love it on snares. TDR Nova - a FREE and excellent dynamic EQ! MEqualizer - besides being super easy to work with, the "Areas" feature and the "Auto-listen" (soloing) on this is an excellent EQ AND learning tool. So many more, but these are the ones that jump to mind. --- edit --- The HOFA 4U Freebies deserves a mention, especially the Meter, Fader, & M/S-Pan

Same major version, i.e. v5, is an update. ? New version major version = $$. ?
-
Hehe! Since this was a new post I was half expecting it to be on sale for $19.99!

I asked them about this at one point and the "official" policy is that you cannot xfer licenses you used for upgrading.

Interesting! I thought I'd give this mastering service a try since I've recently "finished" mixing Higher by Beyonce's band ‘The OG´s’ from the Plugin-Alliance Sessions. https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/session/session-post/items/eric-racy-higher-session.html I was targeting the loudness of the released version (-9.4 LUFS), so my mix was already pretty loud (-9.65 LUFS) and there wasn't much headroom to play with. Still, the mastering site managed to make a couple of them louder - and I didn't hate them either. (I checked the loudness at the online Youlean site: https://youlean.co/file-loudness-meter/ ) I think they did a pretty good job. 1. Higher (My Mix ) (-9.65 LUFS) 2. Higher (BL Universal Master) (-8.66 LUFS) 3. Higher (BL Fire Master ) (-11.06 LUFS) 4. Higher (BL Clarity Master) (-10.10 LUFS) 5. Higher (BL Tape Master ) (-8.55 LUFS) I'll definitely be trying this site on a mix with more headroom next time.

N3 was a game changer for me! I love that plugin! Use it sparingly though because it's pretty CPU hungry. I wish they'd break it out into individual plugins like Ozone and Neutron...

Congrats! From one camper to another, there's some excellent software in there and Izotope's Product Portal has worked pretty well for me.

They did, they're called Neoverb.

This one is good! I got it back in 2020 and DO use it. I haven't used IK's much since I just got it in last year's Group Buy. But I'm a saturator collector. For reference, my 2 most used saturators are Kush's Omega TWK and Nembrini's Lofi. Next in line would be the SSL. (At least that's how they rate these days.) But different flavors for all the them.

Same! And I'm a happy camper too! ?

Their pricing is "messy" to put it kindly, but they will honor the price if it's in your account, at least they have with me in the past.
