Hm, trying to update I got error like below:

    Clipboard01.jpg.fed44c0107334e3dfb3b51c56f988f5e.jpg

So I tried to delete it manually. Refused as according to Windows explorer process Waveslocalserver locked it (!! ).

So I rebooted to have a pure session and still didn't help...  So I ended it with task manager as was sure with pure session I didn't do anything with Waves consciously...

It helped instantly so thanks to such Waves secret improvements  I will join soon into WUP haters club... ?

I got that same message on the last two updates.  I just went to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core
and moved the file to the Cakewalk directory and then hit try again.  It won't let you delete it, but it will let
you move the file, and you don't have to kill any processes to do it!

The trouble occurs in CW. I can choose EITHER to use Soundcraft drivers for input OR my Layla's OR Voicemeeter as a driver set, but NOT simultaneously together.

The ASIO specification calls for the host to use one I/O driver at a time.

Cakewalk follows the ASIO spec when using ASIO driver mode.

None of the other driver modes have this restriction.

ASIO4All can aggregate devices because it uses WDM drivers,

  3. None of those synths were ever bundled with CbB.

Here is the list of synths bundled with CbB.

To use old Cakewalk plug-ins, install the latest, most complete version of whatever Cakewalk product(s) you own (preferably 64bit versions) then install Cakewalk by BandLab.

If the software had a downloadable installer, Cakewalk accounts created between 2014-2017 are still online. Support@cakewalk.com can help restore access to these accounts. Otherwise, you will need to use the original install media and activation codes that were provided when you purchased and registered the software.

NOTE i find setting it to "wheel" the list is empty... maybe it's dependent on the synth?

The Wheel Type is for the pitch wheel only and does not use the Value drop down.

The Value is part of the description of the automation envelope not the  the nodes on the envelope.

The Control Type needs a Value to determine which continuous controller is being automated.

  5. Since pitch and mod wheel data are sent by the controller, they may be recorded just like note data. This will store that data in clips just like the note data.

To add pitch and mod wheel as automation use the automation drop down

    • Set the MIDI Envelope Type to Wheel for pitch
    • Set the MIDI Envelope Type to Control and Value to "1 Modulation" for mod wheel

  6. The documentation only mentions the USB port for sending MIDI data, it does not say anything about receiving MIDI data.

The 5-pin DIN connections support MIDI send and receive.

If this is the case, in order to use the sounds in the Crimson II Drum Module requires a PC-MIDI interface that supports the 5-pin DIN connectors.

If the USB port can receive MIDI data, then set up the drum module as a MIDI output device in Cakewalk, set the MIDI track output to the device and record the audio from the drum module like any other audio source.

Funny I didn’t know that you cannot add audio effects to a simple instrument track. I guess that’s why I have never used them.

Of course audio and MIDI effects may be used with instrument tracks.

The audio FX rack is available in the track header in the track view, the inspector audio tab and console view track strips.

The MIDI FX rack is available in the inspector MIDI tab track strip.

The plug-ins work just like they do in audio and MIDI tracks.

There is no reason to split instrument tracks to use audio or MID FX plug-ins.

  8. Reports about the current release are best posted in the appropriate feedback thread.

A thread like this is created for each new release

Providing specific examples helps too. A problem with "some VSTs" may be difficult to reproduce.

  9. There are two different actions associated when holding down the SHIFT key

    • Safe Mode - this is what the first image references.
    • Partial Personalization - this is what the second image references.

Safe mode runs when the SHIFT key is held down while opening a project. Opening a project in safe mode gives the user an opportunity to skip or step through loading plug-ins. Run Safe mode to attempt to load problem projects.

Partial Personalization runs when the SHIFT key is held down while starting up the DAW. This is part of the process run during install to populate the user directory. Running this after an install restores any files that may be missing from the user folder. Run Partial Personalization to recover missing metronome or drum map files.

  10. When sharing an audio device between Windows and Cakewalk make sure no program as exclusive use of the audio device and everything is running the same sample rate.

In Cakewalk this means checking the sample rate here and avoiding WASAPI Exclusive driver mode.

Here is one way to review the sample rate in Win10

  11. AFAIK, ASIO4All does not come preinstalled on any PC.

If you did not install it, the software is probably not installed.

Like most software, if ASIO4All is installed it will show up in Windows Settings > Apps & Features.

According to the preference screen posted above Cakewalk is set to default to 44.1kHz.

Here is one way to check Windows sample rate
