  1. Thanks for your insight--this is what I'm looking for. I'll be waiting for the next time the Softube goes on sale again.
  2. Thanks for your response. Are you doing this in any professional capacity? I’m just a hobbyist intrigued by the opportunity to buy stuff that emulates pricey boutique hardware. Been playing acoustic guitar for 35+ years now but just getting into electric guitar. For live performance, I’m using iOS, mainly Nembrini with Ownhammer IRs using Nembrini’s IR Loader (when I’m not lazy). At home, I’m now using a MacBook Air M1 running Studio One Pro. I started with AmpliTube (from GB many years ago) and now have the equivalent of MAX after the recent GB. Now, getting into the standalone amp sims from PA which I like for simplicity vs. suites, especially when chaining different effects. For IRs, I just use the IR loader built into S1. I’ve been holding off on TH-U since getting rigs seems like another deep hole to get into. Coming back to the OP, how’s the Suhr SE100 compared to other sims (since it sounds like you have it)?
  3. Thanks. Purchased from Jrrshop.
  4. Thanks for your very thorough run down--I appreciate it. I forgot about the MiniPlex 20 (Friedman Pink Taco). My question is, is there's a good reason to collect all these amp sims if they sound similar? Like why not just get the best version? I have Nembrini on iOS (Extacy, Mrh159). All the Amplitube amps. Friedman BE100. Is the Suhr SE100 better? Or just different? Of the above, which is your favorite? Just figuring out if there are any I should still get. Interesting observation on external IRs, I have the Ownhammer (r)Evolution bundle. What do you use/recommend? Thanks!
  5. I have bx_console E and bx_townhouse (not to mention IK). Any compelling reason to pick this up?

    PA Amp Alarm

Unfortunately, the dynamic discounts no longer apply to the discounted products. I missed my chance to pick up Gig Performer for $25 (with the tuner hack) this morning. Can’t blame them. It wasn’t their intention to apply additional dynamic discounts to sale items.

    PA Amp Alarm

    Add bx_tuner for $5.
  8. Hm. Plexi style amp. Any opinions on AmpliTube (JH Gold), Softube’s Plexi (Marshall Plexi Super Lead 1959), Friedman BE100, Nembrini Mrh159, or this Suhr SE100? Oh, and Bogner Ecstacy has a Plexi mode so add Nembrini Extasy and Mercuriall’s to the list. Is there a reason to have multiples of this type? Any others I left out? Nevertheless, I’m likely to just pick it up when the price comes down to $15 after voucher.
  9. Here’s the English link: https://www.bestservice.com/deals/united_plugins_autoformer_free_giveaway_4016.html It’s not obvious how to get it for free, though.
  10. Added yet another amp sim (MRH810) to my iOS Nembrini app collection for $10. Discovered that attenuating the guitar input by 15 dB (!!!) made the sim sound more correct (so clean was actually clean). Went back and tried the same on the other amp sims and found that the presets now sounded a lot better). The Sound Master now didn’t have such strident icepicky highs as before.

    BIAS FX 2 LE FREE

    How can that be? ?

    BIAS FX 2 LE FREE

The Spark is basically a hardware version of their old iOS JamUp app (yes, not the current BIAS FX 2) but with a lot of work done on the UI (and new features). The iOS JamUp app is pretty old but cheap (there’s a freebie version and Pro is currently on sale for $10). It’s actually more flexible than the Spark app. If you have an old iOS device laying around, an audio interface, and small speakers, you can make your own, but the Spark excels in its portability and simplicity. For recording, I would recommend just miking the amp just like a real amp combo rather than taking the headphone out or the digital audio out. I got to play with a friend’s and was impressed, but I actually don’t need the portability so I convinced myself that my iOS amp sims (Nembrini) sound better, though without a streamlined and homogeneous workflow. Some people actually upgraded their Spark amp with better speakers, but the built in ones aren’t bad.
  13. Yeah, the prices were above what I've been willing to pay.
  14. OK, I got the message. Now, which one(s) to demo? I don't know what to do with high gain, but I like clean to crunchy rock.
  15. Haven't gotten any Neural DSP products yet. Am I missing out on anything if I already have AmpliTube, Amp Room, PA (9X), and Nembrini (on IOS)?
  16. At least with Electrum, it's cab section is all algorithmic so any IRs would have to be from disabling the cab section and following the plugin with an IR loader. Not ideal if you want any post cab FX.
  17. Downloaded and installed, to go along with PreSonus Tuner, MTuner, and embedded tuners in all the guitar suites I have (AmpliTube, Amp Room, et al). I still haven't gotten bx_tuner, though. Appreciated for being a standalone AUv3 plugin on iOS that can be used in AUM. I was adding ToneStack Pro to the flow to have a tuner, but now this is a much more lightweight option.
  18. Read reviews here: https://web.archive.org/web/20201024082936/https://honestampsimreviews.com/category/developers/brainworx/ (the actual site was shut down) https://guitarandbassplugins.com/reviews/brainworx-suhr-pt100/ Probably any of the $39.99 amps are good. Alternatively, for my mobile rig, I've been getting Nembrini amps for iOS, when on sale for $10.
  19. Nice. My amp experience is primarily with virtual amps (pre-pandemic, I primarily played acoustic guitar) so it’s nice to get nice to hear evaluations of the amp sims from people who’ve played real amps.
  20. I didn’t know the different Dumble models and SSS didn’t mean anything to me. Thanks for the education. I appreciate the background (especially since I have the Fuchs ODS). 21%, yikes! Hopefully it translated to better quality. This amp space can get really deep. It’s fun to learn about.
  21. Re: licensing … https://gearspace.com/board/showpost.php?p=15918387&postcount=15 “Just to answer my own question: I ended up reaching out to support and they will license this on multiple machines. You just need to email them the request key for any additional PC's and they'll manually get one back to you. Usually within a day.” I didn’t find out until reading the thread that it’s an emulation of a Dumble. In retrospect, it makes sense (rhymes with Humble).
  22. I have Analog Lab 4 (which got upgraded to V). My "SPECIAL OFFER Crossgrade to V Collection 8" is for $249.
  23. Some options … bx_bassdude: "Faithful reproduction of an early 1960’s Fender Blonde Bassman guitar/bass amp" Suhr PT-100: "Channel 1 is voiced in the 'American' style, delivering sparkling clean to lightly crunchy tones." Buxom Betty: "This is a stunning, hand-wired, single-channel amp, famous for its creamy clean American and crunchy British tones." Fuchs Overdrive Supreme 50: "From crystal clear and highly detailed clean sounds to its harmonically complex and eloquent overdrive, this amp will hold its sonic integrity at any volume level." Chandler GAV19T: "… inspired by classic British amps like Selmer, Vox and Marshall … this amp’s palette runs from clean to crunchy." The Chandler would be more like a VOX clean. The others above are more along the line of Fender/American clean.
  24. Based on your feedback, I'll pass on the rest of them at the $29.99 price point, then. How do the Orange and Diezels stack up against the AmpliTube equivalents (I have everything in AT5 MAX from the GB)? If anything, I'll just wait on a sale on the newer PA amps. I have enough to play with. Thanks for tempering my GAS.
