Cores. IO isn't a big issue for me. Obviously you have to have sufficient io or you are dead in the water, but striping isn't much help imho.

Answering the question is a little tricky for me. I had hard disk recorders (one even used a Jazz Drive) that recorded internally. Those were my first computer recorders but they weren't traditional computers. In 1999 I had an Akai DPS12 and in 2004 or so I got a Tascam 2488. With the Tascam, I could export the wave files and mix in Cakewalk which is how I learned to mix. I wasn't using Cakewalk for live recording at that time. Eventually, I got the itch to record in the box and got a sound blaster card. While this was a big step up in the sound of what I was mixing, I had so many latency issues it wasn't worth the trouble. I continued to record with the Tascam. My next effort was an MAudio Fast Track Ultra. That could be sync'd with the 2488 so I could record more tracks at once. This worked ok for a good long while. I could record 6 tracks with the MAudio and 8 more with the 2488. I would record live bands this way and it worked out fairly well. I continued mixing in Cakewalk/Sonar. Most recently, I picked up a RME UCX. I use that with the 2488 and with an Audient ASP880. This gives me 24 tracks if I'm ok to be at 44.1 or 12 tracks at 96K, 10 tracks at 192K which I've only used once on something that mattered. The RME surprised me at how much of an improvement it was over the ones I'd had before. I'm not sure if the next interface will be another big step up or not, but the RME has been awesome for a nice long time. I'm really hooked on it.

Do you "doctor" your guitar picks? How? What picks?
Gswitz replied to Christian Jones's topic in The Coffee House
I begged one of trey anastasio's picks from a roadie in Denver. Big graphite pick. Super thick. Still have it some where. -
Here a crash, there a crash everywhere a crash crash....

Can you hit e to disable all plugins before unfreezing? Does out succeed in that case? -
Interleave appears to be a method to blend the left and right outputs and simultaneously reduce volume by 3db at the end of the signal chain. If the track is indeed mono after fx, interleave should have no effect.

We are all white belts. There are no masters. Well... Scook and bapu maybe.

@Johnbee58 No sweat. I can see how the misunderstanding happened. I'd be glad to make you a video to show how you can use melodyne to inspect your own work. You can also adjust it, which i did to your vocal track. I then measured your bpm manually and fixed the clip to an exact length to fit 80 bpm. After pitch adjusting, i bounced the clip to commit the change. I then looped the clip and played with exciter, compression, side chained limiting, eq distortion... Etc. I was trying to make it awesome from my perspective and have enjoyed it over and over. I don't really think you have any problem or any reason to stop making amazing sounds. Keep rocking. ?

@Johnbee58, I wasn't making a mockery of it, Just so you know. I was trying to do something cool with it. I grabbed. Analyzed it. Messed with it. My tastes may not be yours. I love making things sound edgy. I've actually listened repeatedly to your lyric and enjoyed it. Regarding folks talking about proximity effect etc, I don't see any low end at all. Your voice is very very different from mine. I did apply a little Melodyne and put you in the key of Ab. Idk what you were really doing. I made some pitch adjustments and then twice bounced while twiddling fx to get the result I did. Please don't be hurt. Be flattered I took the time, if anything. ? If you want me to give real advice, the first thing I'd say is lighten up. The second would be to feel it as you sing. Have fun. ? Don't sweat the small stuff and don't quit. I can't imagine why you'd quit.

@Grem I think it's great. ?

<I posted a link to a remix of the vocal but the OP thought it was abusive so I'm removing it.>

idk if this helps, but you can always toggle waveform preview to make it disappear and re-enable. You'll lose the waveform history, but you'll be able to see the envelope, make changes and then renable waveform draw. Alternatively, Sometimes when I want to see the waveform for a track, I'll bounce to track and just look at the wave form there. ? Takes a couple of secs but not too long. Then mute the track and toggle waveform draw as necessary as you work on the envelope.

I started on drums at 10 with lessons. I learned to count and read rhythms from sheet music which has been immensely helpful to me. I tried bass in middle school. Couldn't keep my spot in the band. Switched to guitar in 1988 when i went to the University of South Carolina. I've had one since.

Does recording on your phone count ?
-
I use it on a 15 year old laptop with 4 gb of ram for capturing live recordings. At home i use a desktop built by purrfect audio. https://studiocat.com/

http://gswitz.blob.core.windows.net/tunes/PolarBlue(Geoff8).7z Give this one a try. Strip Label Text under Console View controls the color of it. Geoff

I think the version I posted changes only the background of the processors so you can watch your processors more easily.

Was it Steve Cs? I can't remember.
-
It's not my theme. I'm just tweaking it for you.
-
It's green in trackview... want me to change it to pink there? I'm still hunting for it in console view.
-
Ok hunting for it.
-
Wait a sec. Let me double check. Any color you'd like in particular? I've got theme editor open now.

Try this one... http://gswitz.blob.core.windows.net/tunes/Polar Blue (Geoff).7z

https://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Theme-Editor There is a theme editor that gives you control over most colors.
