Had the same trouble but finally got thru. Installed and registered. But, very disappointed!! Probably EDM or house music folks will like it.

Kind of a down & dirty approach that we have used even on pro level is to export the song as a roughmix mp3 stereo with all parts included for them to hear the intended recording! Then export another copy to each individual musician minus their part allowing them to record their tracks. When they are done, they can send their tracks back to you and you can fly their tracks into your project! While this seems rather archaic, it seems to be the better fail-safe and flexible way. The reason being that you are leaving the actual mixing and mastering steps to the end of the project. You also can keep a folder of every take that was done for that project! If replacing midi, they simply export their midi track, send it to you and you can place it in the project wherever you like. You can use your own plugin! Even replace your original! If recording audio, as far as the plugin problem, they can use whatever plugins they have in their arsenal so they have a comfortable sound to record. When they have what they want they should switch off their plugin and export just the raw track for your use! Of course, if they have THE SOUND then they just send you the audio track and you put it where you want. This way, if you have better plugins or just prefer your own, you fly in their track and apply your plug! Written down, it looks like a pain but it really is simple once you get the flow! One bit of advice! Keep your original project and make a copy of that project strictly to do your collaboration!! You don't want to be left in a position of saying to yourself, "I wish I hadn't replaced that track!!!" Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have had tts since it was made available. Although, I have moved on to shall we say more pro line synths and samplers. I was speaking in terms of new Sonar customers who will no longer have the option of a GM synth right out of the gate!

Just gave the Product Center a spin! Updated the newest version for it and used it to download and install the latest CbB. Pretty nifty! No crashing so far. Although, I saw where Tts-1 will no longer be a part of Cakewalk! I stopped using it myself many years ago but I have a friend that will be devastated by this news. Also, saw on this forum, several people that still love that little plug! Do you think maybe Roland would be up to selling it for a reasonable price? Possibly they could develop it as a VSTi. Just speculation!

Finally, the crickets have chirped! I must thank them for removing that bothersome pop-up from the start screen! It feels a little better now that we have expressed our views on some problems here but someone is listening and took action! THANKS, BAKERS!

Well, CbB has been such a great experience up to now. Who would have foreseen that it would be driven into the ditch this way! I know that they're not worried about losing a small number of users because they will gain a number of new users when Sonar finally drops. I hope that the new users get better treatment than those of us who have been dedicated to this product for many, many years! As I said before, I was so thankful that Bandlab had rescued Cakewalk and offered it free for so long. But now, I have real concerns about what has transpired since this mess as of late. I have and use several other DAWs and I guess I will be seriously considering letting go of my favorite that has been my goto for so long. The silence from the devs is the worst cut of all!
-
Maybe one of the moderators could make sure the developers see this thread! I remember a time not too long ago if there was the slightest problem mentioned on the forum, it was not long before there was SOME response to us! Now, crickets aren't even chirping!

If you must have a popup, why not a tab to click to choose not to see the popup and continue on to work! Why slow my workflow for almost half a minute to see info that we have known for almost a year? I know a half a minute is sort of ridiculous to complain about but when you are trying to focus intently on your work the last thing you want is a distraction that irritates you. As suggested, put the popup at the closing of the project! I think these two suggestions are viable. The silence from the developers is deafening! Where are you, Noel? Or anyone! At least let us know you are listening and if you intend to do something about this mess!!

I concur with F.J.s post! I have been a dedicated Cakewalk user since 8.5! I have preached the gospel of Cake ever since. They even used my review of the Adaptive Limiter in their advertising for said product! I have a close friend of mine who recently built a hot rod computer last year! He was so proud and bragged about how fast he could start Cakewalk and get to work! Now, he spent all that money and time in order to be stopped and waiting on this miserable popup screen to get to work! He is right now as we speak pushing all his projects in to Studio 1. It's going to be hard for me to convince people that Cake is a viable DAW with all of this messiness going on right now. Things are going to have to change before I can recommend Cakewalk to anyone now! This is a sad time for me. I have not missed one upgrade since 8.5! Now I am disenheartened by what I see happening and have been made to feel as a devoted customer that I don't count anymore! I hope to stay with Sonar when it finally arrives but it sure would be nice to have a good clean experience with CbB in the meantime!!

I am afraid that this situation with taking so long to release the new Sonar along with the pop up screen is starting to leave a bad taste in our mouths towards an otherwise wonderful relationship with CbB!!! Glad you got sorted out with the wifi on your phone. I am in an area in Macon, Ga. where there is only one internet company available in our neighborhood and they ruined the 10 year relationship we had with them. Long story!! Anyway, we have been on cellphone hotspot for about 5 years. Slow but solid for huge files. PLEASE, CBB!!! Stop shooting yourself in the foot and give us some definitive info on Sonars progress AND GET RID OF THIS GOD AWFUL POPUP!!!!! With all due respect and affection!!!

Might be advantageous to keep an older version on the drive! When talks of paying for CbB started, I tried opening a CbB project in Platinum and it opened right up! No, all the new features and plugins were not there but with a rescan and a little bit of ingenuity, I was able to work almost as if I never left Platinum!
-
If we still are battling with numerous bugs in CbB it is going to be hard for them to sell us Sonar for pay when the bugs are still there!!! That may be what the holdup is all about! I just don't like the suspicious behavior of not being completely up front with their potential buyers and user base!

Hi! At the risk of being pounded on this topic once more! Some of us are on fixed income and have to watch every penny very closely. That being said, I will buy into Sonar if they offer a bare to the bones version at an unbelievably low price. I already own almost every plugin that the bakers have offered since Pro Audio 9! It would be senseless to make me buy a new version containing all those plugs. Those plugins are pretty old by todays standards. Maybe offer upgrades or updates of Sonars plugs and I may consider. I know they offered several different versions at different prices before and they are leaning towards that mindset. I, also am upset about the vagueness of the answers concerning the eventual killing off of CbB. They do need to go ahead tell us, outright that they will keep it available or not. Perhaps to unruffle some feathers they could offer CbB for a very, very low price for those of us who have been invested in Cakewalk for so many years. I would be willing, as .many others I'm sure, to bite at that. For now, more crickets on whether or not CbB survives.

Is there any chance that Cakewalk Z3TA+ will be revived?
Sidney Earl Goodroe replied to Name's topic in Instruments & Effects
This is why I am hoping that there will be a version of the new Sonar at a very reduced price for those of us who still have ALL of the plugs from all these years of using the original Pro Audio, Sonar X, Platinum, etc! I have virtually everything Cakewalk since Pro Audio 9 and don't need all those bells and whistles that a newbie would need! Maybe there will be some new content that will warrant me spending more money on Sonar but it was the fact that CbB was just barebones and my plugs still worked that drew me back to Sonar. Much less it being free! Of course, I have moved on to modern whiz-bang plugs but I don't fancy having to pay again for plugs I already have.- 26 replies

Anyone still(or Ever) using Roland Octa-Capture?

I have used 2 Studio-Captures synced together for 32 ins/20 outs. Had them since 2013 and they have been rock solid! -
Thank you, Johnathan! I hope we get more info soon.

I have never even come close to calling anyone a liar here. I simply feel that to announce so far ahead of release without complete transparency and giving us cut and dried details from management themselves has left room for what is happening now. As far as I am concerned, it is 2 months later and we have questions and speculations building tension that is unnecessary. Myself, I would prefer here is the estimated cost and we shall be shutting down CbB by __________. I can't make it any plainer than that. I would like to remind you it was stated at first that CbB would not be going away, that it would continue to operate til Windows broke it. This was an acceptable scenario for me. Now we have on the forum it is stated that we will give you a reasonable amount of time to decide to move to Sonar but CbB will be discontinued with no idea of what a reasonable amount of time is!!!! Management simply needs to clarify this mess so we don't waste our time having to post like this. I don't do music for funsies! I have made a somewhat comfortable living in the business and am fortunate to have done so. All I say is, there are those of us who rely on whatever our tools are to make a life for ourselves. When someone makes a decision to alter a tool I use on a daily basis, I question it. In this case, we still have no answers. This will be my last post about this as I am tired of explaining myself. I felt someone needed to say something as I have seen so many posts expressing concerns just as I have! Now lay it to rest and get back to waiting!!!

With all respect, the forum has turned into a gossip magazine that is full of speculation ! The fact remains that the two main questions in my mind are still unanswered after festering for over 2 months now. Price is one! I do not upgrade every single time one comes out because the features don't really fulfill my needs or I simply can't afford to. Mainly, the reason I don't is because I had to go out on Social Security early because of my wifes disability and taking care of my father and mother and in-laws, of which 2 had Alzheimer's and one had terminal cancer!!! I do not for one moment regret doing that. I ask for no sympathy from anyone. I ask no favors. All I am saying is affordable for one person is not for another! I have to make careful decisions about what we can afford and what we can't. Not everyone makes 50k a year! The software choices I made were because they operate if I choose not to upgrade for a long period of time. I have gone as long as a couple years without upgrading one of my DAWs and it still purred along. Heck, Platinum still works as well as when I used it last and I haven't touched it since downloading CbB. I know that you cannot continue to make a product completely free forever! I am willing to pay what I can for Sonar to continue. But, I must be judicious about my expenses. Price and termination window has been sadly kept from all of us for too long. I mean no disrespect to anyone here. I am simply saying that treating those two issues as if they were nuclear secrets is really starting to make some of us very uncomfortable! I have said before and repeated that I am so grateful to this company for saving Cake and will always be a vocal supporter of this company! If someone in management could give us cold hard facts possibly on the website, maybe it would calm things. We don't need thousands of people including myself on this forum throwing out speculation, rumors, guessing, etc. For 2 months now! We need management explaining prices and how much longer CbB will be running until they choose to shut it off! I wish us all many more years of happiness using the DAW we all love so much! And I sincerely hope this long post has not been misconstrued as attacking this product or any individual here.
